NCT ID: NCT03481907 Completed - Wound Heal Clinical Trials

Topical Collagen Powder for Healing of Acute Full-thickness Wounds

Start date: March 15, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

We have designed a pilot study to investigate the effect and potential utility of topical NuvagenTM (collagen powder) on the rate and quality of wound healing in healthy volunteers using the punch biopsy method. After inducing an acute full-thickness wound, the rate of complete healing of a wound treated with topical NuvagenTM (collagen powder) will be compared to the rate of complete healing of a wound treated with primary closure with sutures, the current gold standard. Qualification and semi-quantification of histologic and immunohistochemical markers will be used to assess the maturity and structural stability of the wound bed. Positive findings would suggest that NuvagenTM (collagen powder) may be capable of stimulating the healing of acute wounds in a similar or even superior manner to primary closure, suggesting collagen powder may be used in place of sutures, and encouraging further studies to characterize its therapeutic potential in dermatologic surgery.

NCT ID: NCT03480880 Completed - Clinical trials for Traumatic Brain Injury

Bispectral Index Value Changes During Induction and Surgical Decompression in Head Injury Patients

Start date: October 1, 2016
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study was conducted in two parts: 1. This first part was designed to determine thiopentone dose requirement for induction of anaesthesia with and without the use of Bispectral Index monitoring - Participant and Care Provider in appropriate study arm blinded. 2. As a secondary outcome, Bispectral index monitoring was used to observe changes in neuronal function in intraoperative period as well as haemodynamic changes intraoperatively - Participant and Care Provider blinded.

NCT ID: NCT03478059 Completed - Concussion, Brain Clinical Trials

Dual-task Assessment and Rehabilitation for Individuals With Residual Symptoms After mTBI

Start date: October 31, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This research aims to develop an intervention that combines mTBI-specific motor and cognitive challenges into a progressive and challenging rehabilitation program. We plan to develop and refine a combined motor and cognitive intervention using healthy athletic young adults (n=12) and people with a positive history of non-resolving mTBI (n=12). We will conduct limited feasibility testing by conducting 6 week training sessions with each subject group. We also plan to identify best measures for determining readiness for duty or full function by incorporating and testing 3 dual-task assessment measures using state-of-the-art wearable sensors to quantify movement.

NCT ID: NCT03477201 Completed - Clinical trials for Port-site Injury Caused by Stray Energy Transfer

Characterizing Stray Energy Injuries During Robotic Surgery

Start date: February 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Stray energy transfer during laparoscopic surgery is recognized as a cause of potentially serious complications. This will be the first study to demonstrate clinical evidence of tissue injury due to stray energy transfer during robotic surgery. This information can then be used to define surgeon modifiable factors that can reduce the risk of patient injury. In addition, these data can guide the development of future robotic and laparoscopic platforms.

NCT ID: NCT03477123 Completed - Spinal Cord Injury Clinical Trials

Evaluation of Robotic Exoskeletons Therapy for Gait Rehabilitation in Patients With Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury.

Start date: January 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objective of the study is to assess the efficacy of the Exo-H2 robotic exoskeleton for walking rehabilitation of people with incomplete spinal cord injury.

NCT ID: NCT03473873 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Protective Role of Muscle Function for Early Features of Knee Osteoarthritis After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury

SHIELD
Start date: March 9, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

In this longitudinal prospective cohort study including young people with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), the aims are to 1) study the association between different measures of muscle function and early future of knee osteoarthritis (OA) assessed as patient-reported pain, 2) explore potential associations between muscle function and features indicative of early radiographic OA measured with MRI, and early detection of OA in biomarker profiles, respectively, 3) monitor the patients' functional status, and early OA development over time and 4) investigate the prevalence of early knee OA in individuals 1 and 3 years post ACLR, respectively, compared to non-injured controls. The main hypothesis is that knee extensor weakness predicts future symptomatic OA of the knee (KOOS pain).

NCT ID: NCT03472469 Completed - Clinical trials for Nonspecific Pain Post Traumatic Injury

MAST Trial: Multi-modal Analgesic Strategies in Trauma

MAST
Start date: April 2, 2018
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This is a comparative effectiveness study of current pain management strategies in acutely injured trauma patients. Two different multi-modal, opioid minimizing analgesic strategies will be compared [original multimodal pain regimen (MMPR) compared to multi-modal analgesic strategies for trauma (MAST) MMPR].

NCT ID: NCT03469765 Completed - Acute Kidney Injury Clinical Trials

(TIMP-2)x(IGFPB7) to Predict Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in Aortic Surgery

TIGER
Start date: June 19, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

New biomarkers that predict the development of renal dysfunction in patients with aortic surgery are urgently needed. The investigators investigate whether urinary (TIMP-2)x(IGFBP7) predicts postoperative Acute Kidney Injury and/or need for Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) in patients after aortic surgery (including EVAR).

NCT ID: NCT03468816 Completed - Ulcer, Leg Clinical Trials

Wound Dressing With Moisture Sensor

Start date: May 28, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Explorative study of function of a moisture sensor on top of a superabsorbent wound dressing on exuding leg ulcers.

NCT ID: NCT03468621 Completed - Clinical trials for Surgical Wound Infection

Relation of Skin Closure Method to Groin Wound Infections After Proximal Femoral Artery Exposure.

Start date: March 29, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to asses whether the rate of surgical wound infections in vascular surgery procedures involving exposure of the proximal femoral artery can be reduced using a different skin closure technique.
