The goal of this prospective observational study is to estimate the prevalence of brachial plexus injury after prone positioning in patients with ARDS and to evaluate the safety of swimmer position. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Could arm positioning during pronation play a role in the development of any nerve injury at the brachial plexus level? - Is swimmer position safe when adopted during prone positioning? Participants will be studied at selective time points using EMG assessment.

Galectin-3 in Septic and Non-septic Acute Kidney Injury

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common critical condition with high morbidity and mortality. The level of circulating Galectin-3 (Gal3) largely depends on renal function, so it is elevated in patients with AKI or CKD; elevated Gal3 also aggravates the progression of CKD after the onset of AKI. The proinflammatory and profibrotic properties of Gal3 may render it to be one of the key molecules mediating AKI, CKD, and cardiorenal syndrome. In this prospective observational study, the investigators will explore the differences of Gal3 levels among septic AKI, non-septic AKI, and non-AKI patients and its correlation with prognosis, inflammation, and disease severity in the ICU.

Examining the Experiences of Brain Injury Patients in Medical Trials

Historically, participation in clinical trials has been skewed towards certain groups. However, research on the factors that influence participation, both positive and negative, is limited. Brain injury clinical trial patients help us identify these factors by sharing trial experiences during the course of the interventional medical study. This study will include a diverse group of participants to gather a wide range of information on clinical trial experiences. The collected data will then be used to benefit future brain injury patients who are considering participating in a medical study.
