Novel Antimicrobial Dressing in Peripheral Intravenous Catheters (PIVCs)

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare a chlorhexidine impregnated dressing for peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs) to the standard dressing currently used in general medical and surgical inpatient wards. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Study Feasibility - Occurrence of infectious complications related to the PIVC Participants will be randomly allocated to receive either of the below dressings to cover and secure their PIVC: - The standard dressing used at their hospital, or - The intervention dressing which has Chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) on it Researchers will compare standard and CHG dressings to see if the presence of CHG improves the occurrence of infectious complications related to the PIVC.

Violet-Blue Light Inactivation of Bacteria in Chronic Wounds

This four-week prospective clinical investigation will assess the safety and feasibility of a medical device without CE-marking. The medical device is a light-emitting-diode (LED) and is manufactured by VulCur MedTech Aps. Violet-blue light treatment is tested on a total of twenty-two patients with chronic wounds, divided into three groups, each group only receiving one dosage. Three dosages (low, medium and high) of violet-blue light treatment is tested. ID 1-7 are assigned to the low group, ID 8-15 are assigned to medium group and ID 16-22 are assigned to the high dosage group.

Dcr3 Levels in Blood and Urine on Renal and Patient Prognosis in Patients With Acute Kidney Injury

Kidney diseases represent a global public health problem due to the aging of the population, the increasing prevalence of diabetes, hypertension, obesity and immune disorders. TNF-superfamily ligands are heterotrimeric transmembrane proteins with a molecular structure characterized by the presence of a TNF homology domain that binds to cysteine-rich regions of specific TNF-superfamily receptors. The tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily consists of ligands and receptors that modulate adaptive immunity regulation, hematopoiesis, morphogenesis, as well as different disease states, including cancer and diabetes. DcR3 is found increased in a variety of cancer cells and various inflammatory tissues and is considered a potential biomarker to predict inflammatory disease progression and cancer metastasis. While increasing DcR3 expression may be possible to treat inflammatory diseases and enhance tissue repair, decreasing DcR3 expression may increase tumor apoptosis and suppress tumor growth in vivo. The study will be carried out with the prospective examination of patients without anuria and who developed Acute Kidney Injury or on the basis of Acute Kidney Disease on Chronic Kidney Disease. Sixty patients and 30 age- and gender matched control healthy individuals that accept enrollment in the study will be followed up by the Nephrology Department in Kırıkkale University Faculty of Medicine for 2 years. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between blood and urine DcR 3 levels on the effects of renal and patient prognosis in patients with Acute Kidney Injury as a predictor or an auxiliary test in prediction.

The Role of Colchicine in Reducing The Rate of Myocardial Reperfusion Injury

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the role of colchicine in reducing the rate of myocardial reperfusion injury in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction after primary percutaneous coronary intervention. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does colchicine reduce the rate of myocardial reperfusion injury ? - Does colchicine reduce the concentration of markers of myocardial reperfusion injury (NLRP3, ASC, caspase, and troponin) ? Participants will - Be grouped into intervention group and control group blindly. Patients in the intervention group receive loading dose of colchicine 1 x 2 mg followed by colchicine 2 x 0,5 mg daily for two consecutive days. Patients in the control group receive loading dose of placebo (lactose) 1 x 2 mg followed by lactose 2 x 0,5 mg daily for two consecutive days. - Undergo peripheral blood vein examination before primary percutaneous coronary intervention, after primary percutaneous coronary intervention, 24 hour after primary percutaneous coronary intervention, and 48 hour after primary percutaneous coronary intervention. Researchers will compare intervention group and control group to see if colchicine reduces the rate of myocardial reperfusion injury and reduces the concentration of markers of myocardial reperfusion injury (NLRP3, ASC, caspase, and troponin) in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction after primary percutaneous coronary intervention.
