Filter by:The purpose of this research study is to demonstrate that individuals with upper limb paralysis due to spinal cord injury, brachial plexus injury, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and brain stem stroke can successfully achieve direct brain control of assistive devices using an electrocorticography (ECoG)-based brain computer interface system.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate kidney biomarkers and determine if there is a correlation between Erythropoietin (EPO) levels and acute kidney injury after cardiac surgery. An early biomarker for kidney injury may be helpful in identifying, monitoring and managing patients at risk for kidney failure after cardiac surgery. To evaluate Erythropoietin's role as a predictor of poor renal function in the immediate post-bypass period we plan to compare EPO levels to Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL).
The primary objective of this clinical study is to evaluate the use and effectiveness of our 'handheld' fluorescence digital imaging device platform for real-time non-invasive clinical monitoring of chronic wounds for healing and bacterial contamination/infectious status over time. This will enable us to determine if the device can detect and longitudinally track intrinsic changes that may occur during the wound healing process including, but not limited to, collagen re-modeling and bacterial infection of the wound site.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether NNZ-2566 is safe and effective in the treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
This project is the first to use a clinical laboratory method in emerging adults to test the hypothesis that a trauma history with or without concommitant posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) alters response to a stressor and promotes drinking compared to normal controls. The study will be the first to explore whether trauma-exposed (TE) and PTSD groups differ on these outcomes. It will also examine the relationship between stress reactivity and subsequent stress-induced drinking in these samples. The goal of this program is to better understand the relationship between stress and factors related to the development and maintenance of alcohol problems in early adults, so that ultimately, better treatments may be developed that reduce the incidence and severity of alcohol related problems.
The objective of this study is to determine the relative gentleness of two tapes recognized for gentleness. A three-prong multidimensional evaluation consisting of laboratory assessments, expert skin grader and subject discomfort assessment will be used.
The purpose of the WE-HEAL Study is to help researchers use human tissue samples and health records to study the reasons why some patients heal quickly and some have problems healing wounds. All patients seen with an open wound or hidradenitis suppurativa are invited to participate. Information from this research may help to understand how to prevent and treat certain diseases.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a three times per week, 2 month robotic assisted treadmill gait training program, will beneficially affect the fitness, physical and psychological well-being, and the vascular and metabolic cardiovascular risk factors in individuals with complete motor Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).
The clinical study is designed to assess the effectiveness, safety and non-immunogenicity of fish skin wound dressing extracellular matrix (ECM) in treating chronic wounds. The wound dressing is indicated for the management of difficult to heal and chronic wounds. The matrix is cut to fit the wound and is applied to the wound bed. An absorptive secondary dressing is put on top. Further dressing of the wound depends on the etiology. The indications for use are: - partial and full-thickness wounds - pressure ulcers - venous ulcers - diabetic ulcers - chronic vascular ulcers - tunneled/undermined wounds - trauma wounds (abrasions, lacerations, second-degree burns, and skin tears)
