Buyang Huanwu Decoction and Normal Tension Glaucoma

The goal of this clinical trial is to test Buyang Huanwu Decoction in normal intra-ocular pressure glaucoma. The main question to answer is: the effect of Buyang Huanwu Decoction and its safety in patients with normal intra-ocular pressure glaucoma. Participants will take 3 grams of Buyang Huanwu Decoction or placebo for 12 weeks. Researchers will compare treatment group and placebo group to see if the visual acuity, visual field would be improved.

Changes of Visual Field Defects After IAT for CRAO

Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) is an ophthalmic emergency which leads to devastating visual function defects and poor prognosis. Though traditional conservative treatments are widely used, none of them is proved to be effective. A number of meta-analyses and observational studies indicate intravenous thrombolysis to be beneficial in CRAO. Selective intra-arterial thrombolysis (IAT) introducing rt-PA directly into the ophthalmic circulation by super-selective microcatheterization may reduce the complications such as intracranial and systemic hemorrhage. The residual visual field is significant for patients with CRAO who have poor central visual acuity. Thus, it is clinically significant to study the changes in visual fields in eyes with CRAO.

Effect of MEMOPTIC on Visual Field of Patients Followed for a Chronic Open-angle Glaucoma

Open-angle glaucoma is a degeneration of the optic nerve, highlighted by campimetric alterations, and wose only current therapeutic target is the lowering of the intra-ocular pressure (using eye drops, surgery or laser). MEMOPTIC is a tablet combining citicoline, magnesium and Gingko biloba, which have a neuroprotective effect already used in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease for example. Citicoline has also shown several promising results in ophthalmological diseases (glaucoma, amblyopia or more recently in ischemic optic neuropathies). The citicoline used in eye drops (NEURODROP) has already shown results on the preservation of the vision of glaucomatous patients. The purpose of this project is to determine if MEMOPTIC can have an effect, in addition to the conventional treatments, in the preservation of vision of patients treated for an open-angle glaucoma.

Variability in Perimetry Study

Improved Assessment of Visual Field Change is a trial aimed at investigating mechanisms of visual field testing variability. The investigators have found using larger stimulus size substantially lowers short-term variability. In this study, the investigators will determine if larger stimuli detect visual field change at an earlier time. The investigators are also developing a statistical model that accounts for correlations of neighboring test locations.
