Filter by:The purpose of this study is to determine whether FVH1, a DNA-based influenza vaccine, will be safe and generally well tolerated in healthy elderly adult volunteers and will result in greater immunogenicity when used to prime the immune response to a dose of a trivalent inactivated seasonal vaccine.
The subjects eligible for this trial have a type of blood cell cancer, other blood disease or a genetic disease for which they will receive a stem cell transplant. The donor of the stem cells will be either the subject's brother or sister, or another relative, or a closely matched unrelated donor. The Investigators are asking subjects to participate in this study which tests if blood cells from the subject's donor that have been grown in a special way, can prevent or be a effective treatment for early infection by five viruses - Epstein Barr virus (EBV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), adenovirus, BK virus (BKV) and human herpes virus 6 (HHV6). The Investigators have grown T cells from the subject's stem cell donor in the laboratory in a way that will train them to recognize the viruses and control them when the T cells are given after a transplant. This treatment with specially trained T cells (also called cytotoxic T cells or "CTLs") has had activity against three of these viruses (CMV, EBV and Adenovirus) in previous studies. In this study the Investigators want to see if they increase the number of viruses that can be targeted to include BKV and HHV6 using a simple and fast approach to make the cells. The Investigators want to see if they can use a kind of white blood cell called T lymphocytes (or T cells) to prevent and treat adenovirus, CMV, EBV, BKV and HHV6 in the early stages of reactivation or infection.
This is a post-licensure safety observation cohort study to describe the general safety of GARDASILâ„¢ (a quadrivalent human papillomavirus vaccine) in males.
The aim of this study is to investigate the immunogenicity response in adults up to 10 years after one booster dose. Data collected from this study will allow for greater information to prescribers who administer TBE vaccine, so that they can appropriately time the administration of booster vaccinations to individuals who received different vaccination schedules and who live in tick borne encephalitis endemic regions.
The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of concomitant administration of V419 (PR51) with 2 types of meningococcal serogroup C conjugate (MCC) vaccines to healthy infants at 3 and 4 months of age in terms of antibody seroprotection rate (SPR) to MCC. Participants also received a Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib)-MCC vaccination at 12 months of age. It was hypothesized that the SPR to MCC at 1 month post-dose 2 of either tetanus toxoid conjugated Meningo C (MCC-TT) or CRM197 conjugated Meningo C (MCC-CRM) vaccines would be acceptable when administered concomitantly with V419.
Rationale: Classical antiviral therapies target viral proteins and are consequently subject to resistance. To counteract this limitation, alternative strategies have been developed that target cellular factors. We hypothesized that such an approach could also be useful to identify broad-spectrum antivirals. The influenza A virus was used as a model for its viral diversity and because of the need to develop therapies against unpredictable viruses as recently underlined by the H1N1 pandemic. Gene-expression signature-based screening identified broadly effective influenza A antivirals. Midodrine showed great results in inhibiting viral growth and was the most suited to confirm its efficacy in vivo. The main objective of the study is to assess the efficacy of midodrine taken at usual recommended dose (7.5mg/day) versus no treatment on viral replication kinetics of virus Influenza A. Secondary objectives: evaluation of the number of patients with a normalized viral load 2, 3 5 and 7 days post-treatment; description of the anti-viral efficacy of midodrine defined as the delay to obtain a prolonged negativity of viral RNA; description of the tolerance of midodrine, evaluation of the clinical response to study treatment; evaluation of the dynamic of viral replication; analysis of the frequency of emergence of mutants and associated resistance. Methods: This is a multicenter, randomized, open-label study comparing patients aged 18 to 65 years infected by influenza A virus. Nasopharyngeal washing will be performed at day 0 (randomization), 2, 3, 5 to show the viral replication evolution. 161 patients will be randomized as follows : - Arm 1 : Midodrine, 2.5 mg, 3 times a day - Arm 2 : No treatment The recruitment is performed by general practitioners in the Lyon area.
The primary objective of the study is to determine whether the incidence of atopic asthma after three years old may be suppressed in the children who were born as preterm infants and prophylactically treated with palivizumab for respiratory syncytial (RS) virus infections during the infancy. The secondary objective is to determine whether the incidence of recurrent wheezing after three years old may be suppressed in the children who were born as preterm infants and prophylactically treated with palivizumab for RS virus infections during the infancy.
This study evaluates the women cervical samples through molecular tests in order to: 1. Deploy the test careHPV (hybrid capture test) in mobile unities of the Barretos Cancer Hospital to evaluate their performance;
Approximately 600 pediatric patients prescribed palivizumab (Synagis) prophylaxis in usual practice according to the approved Korean product label will be registered into this observational study. Baseline data will be obtained at enrollment including demographics, gestational age, birth weight and underlying diseases and complications especially in regard to respiratory disease and cardiovascular disease. At routine visits for Synagis administration, which will occur according to usual medical practice, information on Synagis prophylaxis, concomitant medication, and adverse events will be collected for up to 30 days after the last administration of Synagis.
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if ribavirin can help to control RSV in patients with immune systems that have been weakened by a stem cell transplant. Researchers also want to compare the effectiveness of the drug when it is given by mouth to when it is inhaled. The safety of the drug in both methods of delivery will be studied. Ribavirin is designed to prevent the RSV virus from making more copies of itself in the body.
