Filter by:The reason for this study is to determine if the study drug LY3471851 is safe and effective in adult participants with active ulcerative colitis (UC). The study treatment will last about 52 weeks.
The objective of this study is to compare standard negative pressure wound therapy with negative pressure wound therapy coupled with instillation for optimal skin graft take. Either the V.A.C ULTA NPWT or V.A.C. VeraFlo Therapy systems with normal saline will be applied intra-operatively to split-thickness skin grafts of upper and lower extremity wounds and kept in place for a duration of four days. Following completion of four days, the skin graft with be assessed for percentage of take/adherence and will be covered with simple gauze dressings as needed.
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and preliminary efficacy of PalinGen® Flow for the treatment of chronic ulcers of the lower legs and feet.
This is a retrospective observational study to investigate the short-term surgical outcomes, and long-term oncological outcomes of patients diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis and rectal cancer.
Background: Alberta's Center of Excellence for Nutrition in Digestive Diseases (Ascend) is dedicated to generating new discoveries regarding the link between nutrition and digestive diseases and mobilizing existing research to change the way physicians treat conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, cirrhosis and intestinal failure. Ascend is a collaboration of excellence within the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology at both the University of Calgary and University of Alberta. Dr. Raman, PI, is the Director of Ascend. One of Ascend's primary initiatives is the development of a digital health platform for patients living with both Crohn's disease (CD) and Ulcerative colitis (UC). Dr. Raman and her team have developed an app called LyfeMD, by translating leading scientific research into a practical and engaging digital format. LyfeMD is meant to help people live and thrive while managing their inflammatory disease with holistic, easy-to-implement, evidence based lifestyle therapies. LyfeMD is one app with multiple features - ranging from customized diet using anti-inflammatory principles identified from recent research led by Dr. Raman's team, and exercise plans to mindfulness and stress reduction programs. It helps patients make therapeutic diet choices to treat inflammation and provides stress reduction strategies when they feel unwell. The LyfeMD app also supports patients to maintain remission even when they're feeling well with trusted resources designed to keep them symptom free. In addition to delivering personalized and interactive support, the app uses behavior science to help patients change their habits, improve their health and reduce the burden IBD places on their lives. With proprietary research and a team made up of internationally recognized leaders in the gastrointestinal field, LyfeMD is poised to be the trusted digital health solution for people living with IBD.
Diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) are one of the most serious complications of diabetes and can lead to amputations in 85% of cases, resulting in physical, psychological, family, social and economic consequences. Psychological interventions can contribute to the improvement of wound healing and, relaxation, in particular, seems to contribute to faster wound healing. More research is needed to assess the effectiveness of different types of intervention on different types of wounds, in particular on chronic wounds such as DFU. This is a Pilot Randomised Controlled Study of a Psychological Intervention that aims to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a muscle relaxation intervention with guided imagery (experimental group - EG) compared to a neutral guided imagery placebo (active control group - ACG) and a group that does not receive any psychological intervention (passive control group - PCG), to inform a future definitive Randomised Controlled Study (RCT) that tests its effectiveness. This study will also examine, qualitatively, the perspectives of patients with DFU on the relaxation intervention, in order to check its acceptability and applicability; as well as the perspectives of health professionals on this adjuvant therapy, its applicability and integration into the care system of multidisciplinary diabetic foot consultations. Participants have a diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetic Foot; one or two chronic ulcers active at the time of assessment; and clinical levels of stress or anxiety or depression. Participants will be randomized by the three conditions - EG, ACG and PCG - and assessed on the day of the first consultation or nursing treatment for chronic DFU (T0), two months later (T1), and six months later (T2; follow-up). Two weeks after T1, an interview will be conducted with patients with DFU that benefited from the relaxation sessions and to the health professionals who provided them the DFU care. The results of the present study will contribute for a better understanding of DFU progression, healing, prevention of re-ulceration and future amputations and, consequently, for the improvement of patients' quality of life.
Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), including Crohn's disease (CD), ulcerative colitis (UC) and IBD-unclassified (IBD-U), are characterised by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Over the past 50 years, the incidence of IBD has increased globally, with the highest increase in industrialised countries. During the last 25 years, the incidence of IBD has increased dramatically among teenagers in northern France, with an increase of 126% and 156% for CD and UC, respectively. Physical fitness is a set of attributes related to a person's ability to perform physical activities that require aerobic capacity, endurance, strength or flexibility and is determined by a combination of regular physical activity and genetically inherited ability. Physical fitness, widely recognised as an important health determinant, plays an important role in growth and development. Due to the evidence-based importance of physical fitness for young people's health status, attention should be paid to the assessment of physical fitness at these ages and whatever the health status. At this time, there is no study on the assessment of physical fitness in IBD pediatric patient.
DL-VSU-201 is a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study in subjects with a non-infected venous stasis ulcer (VSU) that has failed to demonstrate improvement after receiving at least 4 weeks of standard, conventional wound therapy to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Dermacyte® Amniotic Wound Care Liquid (Dermacyte® Liquid).
Thirty patients of 18-85 years of age, with 2-30 cm2 pressure ulcers or post-op wounds, will be recruited and treated with either wound dressing containing silver or wound dressings containing copper oxide microparticles. The efficacy of the two types of dressings in reducing the size and improving the condition of the wounds will be compared.
The investigators aimed to elucidate the effects of UAW debridement on cellular proliferation and dermal repair in complicated diabetic foot ulcers as compared to diabetic foot ulcers receiving surgical/sharp wound debridement. A randomized controlled trial was performed involving outpatients with complicated diabetic foot ulcers that either received surgical debridement or UAW debridement every week during a six-week treatment period.
