NCT ID: NCT02752880 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

YH1 in Poorly Controlled Type 2 Diabetes

Start date: June 2016
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease that seriously affects patients worldwide, and it is always among the top 10 causes of death in Taiwan. To date, still many patients who take more than three kinds of oral hypoglycemic agents could not effectively control their glycohemoglobin levels in clinics. Hypoglycemia as well as weight gain are common side effect with insulin therapy, and many patients in Taiwan are not willing to receive insulin injection. It is common for diabetic patients treated with Chinese herbal medicine in China currently, and some therapeutic effects have been published in international journals. In this study, we will evaluate whether Chinese herbal medicine, YH1, enhances the glycemic control and is safe as add-on medication in poorly controlled type 2 diabetes patients. A total of 46 poorly controlled type 2 diabetes patients with glycohemoglobin ≥ 7% from Endocrinology and Metabolism clinics or Internal Chinese Medicine clinics will be enrolled in this randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial. Subjects will be randomly assigned to receive either YH1 (6 g) or the placebo three times per day for 12 consecutive weeks. All subjects in both groups will also continuously receive their oral hypoglycemic agents without any dose or medicine change. During this 12-week period, the glycohemoglobin, fasting plasma glucose, 2h postprandial glucose, waist circumference, body weight, and body mass index will be assessed. In addition, insulin resistance, β -cell function, lipid profile, liver and renal function will also be evaluated. Independent statisticians will perform the data analysis at the end of the trial.

NCT ID: NCT02750410 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

A Study of Dulaglutide in Japanese Participants With Type 2 Diabetes

Start date: August 2016
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combination therapy with dulaglutide and insulin in Japanese participants with type 2 diabetes.

NCT ID: NCT02748239 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Evaluation of a Diabetes Self-Management Education Program for Non-Intensified Insulin Therapy in Type 2 Diabetes

MEDIAS-2-CT
Start date: February 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A new diabetes education program for the initiation of non-intensive insulin therapy in type 2 diabetic patients (MEDIAS 2 CT) was developed. In the evaluation, this new developed program is compared with an education programs which is currently used for diabetes education. It is expected that the new developed program (MEDIAS 2 CT) can demonstrate non-inferiority with regard to the main outcome variable glycemic control. If non-inferiority can be demonstrated superiority of this program will be tested.

NCT ID: NCT02739984 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Evaluation of Evolocumab (AMG 145) Efficacy in Diabetic Adults With Hypercholesterolemia/Mixed Dyslipidemia

BANTING
Start date: May 17, 2016
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of 12 weeks of subcutaneous evolocumab taken monthly compared with subcutaneous placebo taken monthly on low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and high blood cholesterol on a maximally tolerated oral dose of statin of at least moderate-intensity.

NCT ID: NCT02739971 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Dietary Reduction of AGEs to Prevent Cognitive Decline in Elderly Diabetics

Start date: June 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Basic science and observational human studies suggest that high conentrations of circulating Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs) may promote cognitive decline in older adults. The purpose of this pilot study is to test the methodology and feasibility of a dietary intervention to lower AGEs in elderly diabetics in order to lay the foundations for a future fully powered randomized clinical trial (RCT).To this end, the present study is focused on recruitment strategies, adherence to an innovative intervention in older adults and study methods. An exploratory aim will be the effect of the intervention on cognition and cerebral blood flow in order to obtain necessary data to estimate effect-size for a future fully-powered RCT.

NCT ID: NCT02736084 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Boosting Emotions & Happiness in Outpatients Living With Diabetes

BEHOLD
Start date: August 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators developed a novel, telephone-based, 12-week positive psychology intervention and will assess its feasibility and short-term impact in adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and suboptimal health behavior adherence. Participants will receive a positive psychology (PP) manual, complete exercises (e.g., writing a gratitude letter, performing acts of kindness), and review these activities by phone with a study trainer over the 12-week study period. Specific Aim #1 (Feasibility and acceptability (immediate impact); primary aim): To assess whether PP exercises administered over the phone are feasible and linked with immediate benefit in patients with T2D, as measured by ratings provided pre- and post- each exercise. Hypothesis: The PP exercises will be feasible (i.e., 4 of the 7 PP exercises will be completed by a majority of participants, and participants will have a mean score of at least 7 out of 10 on ratings of ease of completion for the exercises. The PP exercises will also have adequate immediate impact (i.e., mean ratings of 7/10 of exercise utility post-exercise and ratings of optimism post-exercise that are significantly higher than pre-exercise). Specific Aim #2 (Changes in clinical outcome measures): To determine whether the PP intervention is linked to improvements in psychological well-being, during and after the intervention period (6 & 12 weeks), via measures of optimism, gratitude, depression, and anxiety. To examine whether the brief PP intervention is associated with improvements in self-reported outcomes related to health (diabetes self-care, diabetes distress, health related quality of life), during and after the intervention. Hypothesis: Participants will have higher mean scores on all psychological outcome measures at 6 and 12 weeks compared to baseline. Participants will also have higher mean scores on all health-related outcome measures at 6 and 12 weeks compared to baseline.

NCT ID: NCT02733302 Recruiting - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Hope Theory as Ability Determinant to Permanently Change the Adapted Physical Activity (APA) in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

APADIAB-ESPOIR
Start date: April 4, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The control of diabetes is related both to food, treatment but also to physical activity. Despite these recommendations and these positive findings, patients are always sedentary because of brakes in the practice of a regular physical activity. It is therefore interesting to consider the representations of patients and particularly on the way of establishment in order to reach a goal. The Hope Theory highlights the hope as the sum of the will and means that an individual has to achieve its goals. Will be discussed in this study to identify a relationship between the level of hope for patients and their ability to permanently change their behavior in regular physical activity as part of the goals set during the week of therapeutic education patient.

G-CREDIT (Gangnam-Cohort for Risk Evaluation of Diabetes and Impaired Glucose Tolerance)

Start date: January 2007
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The prevalence of type 2 diabetes has consistently increased and type 2 diabetes can cause many types of vascular complications. Diabetes develops due to glucose intolerance. Early detection and intervention in the stage of glucose intolerance makes it afford to prevent overt diabetes and its complications. This study was designed to make a cohort of korean patients with glucose intolerance to construct a long term database about clinical characteristics of these patients.
