Filter by:The investigators hypothesize that TrueRelief will result in improved outcomes for patients with shoulder pain compared to those receiving the sham TrueRelief treatment. Also, it is likely that those with fewer medical comorbidities will experience the greatest improvement.
This is a prospective cohort study that will follow 60 patients treated with Proximal Medial Gastrocnemius Recession for Chronic Mid-Portion Achilles Tendinopathy for 5 years postoperatively.

This study is designed to translate and validate the VISA-A questionnaire to the Urdu language, to interpret its psychometric properties, and to determine the reliability of scores obtained from the population of Pakistan. The translated version of the gold standard tool will be used by the local population as well as Urdu-speaking immigrants across the globe to better understand and report the severity of their symptoms. Hence, to improve quality of life across cultures, there is a need of standard outcome measures in Urdu language.
Overuse shoulder injuries such as rotator cuff (RC) tendinopathy are common with a prevalence estimated to be 14% in the general population of which 23% of the working population with shoulder problems are sick listed. RC tendinopathy is a tendon-related pain in the proximal lateral aspect of the upper arm with weakness, especially during active elevation and external rotation, and painful active range of motion. The prevalence of RC tendinopathy is highest in the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendon. Exercise therapy is regarded as an effective intervention for symptomatic RC tendinopathy for reducing pain and disability and improving function. However, the prescription is diverse and the effectiveness of specific characteristics of exercise programs is unknown. Many contextual factors and prescription parameters, such as external resistance, training intensity and frequency, home versus supervised exercises, duration of the program, etc. have been described. Some of these prescription parameters have been extensively studied, with some conflicting results. Although some level of resistance seems to matter, as well as number of sets and repetitions, the 'optimal' level and volume are unclear. Inducing or allowing pain based on tendon loading during exercises is todays consensus in the treatment of patellar and achilles tendinopathy using a pain-monitoring model. Although a number of shoulder studies report that pain either should be avoided or allowed, not one study ever examined the influence of pain allowance versus pain avoidance during a shoulder exercise program on patient outcome in terms of pain, physical function and disability. The purpose of this project is to examine the effect of allowing pain versus avoiding pain based on tendon loading during an exercise regimen for patients with symptomatic rotator cuff (RC) tendinopathy. This will be accomplished in a Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial, comparing the effectiveness on patient reported and objective outcomes of a "pain allowing" and "pain avoiding" exercise program, performed for 26 weeks. Our hypothesis is that allowing pain based on tendon loading during exercises would result in a better outcome in pain and function measured on SPADI (the primary outcome) compared to avoiding pain in patients with RC tendinopathy.
Although some people are more at risk than others, developing a painful Achilles tendon (known as Achilles tendinopathy) can affect anyone. It is a common and disabling condition affecting walking, running and work. To reduce the pain and disability, exercise is a commonly used treatment by physiotherapists. However, success varies. This is why the proposed research is needed, to identify the factors that predict changes in pain and disability from treatment with a physiotherapist. The investigators' previous research suggests the working relationship or 'alliance' between the physiotherapist and patient, the patient's expectations, and the patient's confidence to carry out exercise might be important, but further research is needed to determine this. The investigators have designed a multi-centre, longitudinal cohort study to assess whether working alliance, patient expectations of treatment success, and confidence to perform exercise (self-efficacy) predict changes in pain and disability from a treatment programme prescribed by a physiotherapist for Achilles tendinopathy at twelve weeks. Patients, diagnosed with Achilles tendinopathy by their treating physiotherapist, will be introduced to the study through a verbal discussion and provided with details of the study's website (www.managing-achilles-pain.com). The website provides password protected information (the participant information sheet, consent form and a questionnaire measuring clinical outcomes and the predictive factors). The participant is asked to complete the questionnaire on three occasions; baseline, six weeks later and twelve weeks after baseline.
Proximal hamstring tendinopathy (PHT) is tendinopathy of the semimembranosus and/or biceps femoris/semitendinosus complex. Previous studies have shown the efficacy of laser therapy in the treatment of tendinopathy. To the best of the investigator's knowledge, no study has compared the effects of high-power LASER therapy with conventional physiotherapy programs in proximal hamstring tendinopathy patients. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the effects of high-power laser therapy on pain and muscle power in proximal hamstring tendinopathy patients.
Pain on the lateral side of the hip is a common condition in general practice, however there is limited evidence on how to best manage the condition. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of a combined treatment before comparing this treatment in a larger clinical trial. For the present study 20 patients with lateral hip pain will be invited to receive a corticosteroid injection in the lateral hip prior to performing our exercise program for 8 weeks. After 4 weeks we will do a short interview to get feedback on the exercise program. After 8 weeks we will evaluate the acceptability of the combined treament.
Study aiming at determining the efficacy of eccentric versus concentric exercises for improving tendon biological characteristics, pain, and shoulder overall function for rotator cuff tendinopathy in patients with Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Moreover, investigation the relationship between RA activity and the severity of rotator cuff tendinopathy. Patients will be randomly assigned into either concentric or eccentric exercise group. Randomizations will be done using computer random generated numbers.
This project will be a Randomized control trial conducted to check the effects of tissue flossing technique versus static stretching exercises of bicep muscle on pain, range of motion and function in patients with bicipital tendinitis, so that we can have best treatment option for them. Duration will be of 6 months. Purposive sampling will be done. Subjects fulfilling eligibility criteria from Allied hospital Faisalabad, will be randomly allocated in two groups via lottery method. Baseline assessment will be done. Group A participants will be given baseline treatment along with tissue flossing. Group B participants will be given stretching exercises along with baseline treatment for two weeks, 3 sessions per week. Post intervention assessment will be done via, Numeric pain rating scale(NPRS),Shoulder Pain And Disability Index (SPADI) and goniometric measurements of shoulder ranges. Data will be analyzed by using SPSS version 20.
