Mindfulness Intervention for Early Childhood Educators

CHIME
Start date: September 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a randomized trial of the 'Cultivating Healthy, intentional, Mindful Educators' (CHIME) intervention designed for early childhood educators. The intervention aims to enhance wellbeing, emotion regulation, and sensitive, responsive caregiving among educators by providing them with mindfulness, compassion-based techniques to alleviate stress and respond to emotional challenges in the classroom. The intervention ultimately aims to enhance children's self-regulation through sensitive, responsive caregiving. Measures of teachers' emotional regulation, wellbeing, and stress physiology will be collected pre- and post- the 8 week intervention and compared to a waitlist comparison group. Measures of child self-regulation also will be collected to assess the relation of teacher stress, wellbeing and emotion regulation to child self-regulation.

NCT ID: NCT04811352 Completed - Clinical trials for Stress, Psychological

Drug Abuse During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Start date: March 1, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The pandemic we live through has put various sectors of the medical system and its tributaries to the test. The accumulation of external and internal stress has been completely correlated with the predisposition to psycho-emotional problems and, in turn, to drug use as an immature response for ego protection. That is why the economic, social, and psychological evaluation can help understand the current situation about drug abuse and how to help patients afflicted by it. The added stress of personal problems, work alterations, daily life in a pandemic, economic and varied responsibilities, and the understanding of the pandemic have predisposed and amplified the use of drugs to reduce emotional distress perceived by individuals. The hypothesis of this study is that the increment of stress and a lack of preparation for the pandemic are associated with increased drug abuse.

NCT ID: NCT04800848 Completed - Sedentary Behavior Clinical Trials

Effects of the Face Mask on Physical Fitness in Children

MaskFIT
Start date: April 1, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of this multicenter randomized crossover design study is to evaluate a sample of 500 boys and girls from public and private schools in the Principality of Asturias, aged between 6 and 12 years, with the objective of determining the level of physical condition, as well as to evaluate the effect of the use of FFP2/N95 face masks during the execution of the ALPHA Fitness battery, and the emotional effects caused by the use of these masks. This is a sample obtained by accessibility, in which the sampling will be stratified by age and academic year.

NCT ID: NCT04797871 Completed - Covid19 Clinical Trials

Resistance Training and Clinical Status in Patients With Post Discharge Symptoms After Covid-19

EXER-COVID
Start date: March 8, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

COVID-19 survivors commonly exhibit a marked extra-respiratory complication affecting the cardiac (arrhythmias and myocardial injury), renal (acute kidney injury), gastrointestinal, nervous (neuropathy, encephalopathy), endocrine and musculoskeletal (weakness, pain, and fatigue) systems. In this context, several studies have found that resistance training intervention promotes important health-related benefits, including cardiac function, compared to aerobic exercise training. Other exercise adaptations include increased skeletal muscle metabolism function, yet physio/psychological adaptations are known to be limited in COVID-19 survivors. Hence, given that resistance training intervention is implemented in a manner that is tolerable to the individual patient, it may be a potential beneficiary "personalized" rehabilitation treatment for patients with COVID-19 syndrome ambulatory. The "EXER-COVID Clinical Study" project aims at determining the role of personalized exercise intervention in the treatment of post-COVID-19 syndrome ambulatory patients.

NCT ID: NCT04797689 Completed - Clinical trials for Stress, Psychological

Managing Our Relationship With Food and Eating

NOURISH
Start date: April 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

There is a need for population-level intervention research to address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on disordered eating and unhealthy eating behaviours. Systematic reviews have demonstrated that psychotherapy and yoga can help to reduce binge eating and disordered eating habits, however, these interventions were tested in person. Studies examining the effectiveness of these interventions in an online, group-based format are warranted. In 2019, the investigators launched a RCT to test gender-stratified group interventions to address mental health and addictive behaviours among community-based adults in southern Alberta. The investigators implemented this intervention with more than 200 adults in person before this study was paused due to COVID-19; In 2020, the investigators adapted this intervention for online delivery to 200 community-dwelling women across Alberta. The most recent iteration of this study indicated the participants were particularly concerned about their relationship with food and how they were engaging in different eating behaviours to cope with the stress of COVID-19.

NCT ID: NCT04791085 Recruiting - Covid19 Clinical Trials

Investigation of Stress Levels and Lifestyle of a Sample of Greek General Surgeons in Covid-19

Start date: February 8, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A new pandemic appeared in early 2020, also known as the coronavirus (Covid-19), affecting all health systems worldwide. Medical and nursing staff make every effort to treat patients resulting in physical and psychological exhaustion, which is exacerbated by the lack of medical and nursing staff, the lack of protective equipment, the increased workload, and increased shifts. In this context, the surgeons had to contribute in turn, in order to help as much as they could in dealing with this new health crisis, as a result of which they find themselves in positions that are not on their subject or in their proper training and to handle patients with a dangerous and highly aggressive respiratory infection. This brought more psychological and physical stress to the surgeons. The pandemic of Covid-19 is not known to be a purely surgical condition, but many patients with coronavirus require surgery due to an additional infection, condition, or complication. The design of this research will be observational and quantitative. Quantitative design involves the provision of numerically coded and analytical measurements, such as self-report questionnaires. The purpose of this cross-sectional research is primarily to record the levels of stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms of Greek surgeons, and their lifestyle. Secondary to correlate the stress levels with socio-demographic data and their lifestyle with other parameters of the study.

Wise Interventions and Responses to Stress

ITP-RSA
Start date: September 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional
