Filter by:Serum pepsinogen (PG) levels are considered reliable markers for progression of atrophic gastritis with a stepwise reduction in the serum PG I level or PG I/II ratio. A combination of serum PG levels and Helicobacter pylori serology are used as a biomarker strategy for detection of individuals at increased risk of gastric neoplasm based on Correa's hypothesis. The investigators aimed to uncover whether this combination method could predict the risk of gastric neoplasms and the progression of chronic atrophic gastritis after 3 years. All the participants will be followed for an expected average of 3 years.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of S-1+Oxaliplatin vs.S-1+Cisplatin First-line Treatment in Advanced or Recurrent Non-intestinal Gastric Adenocarcinoma or Gastroesophageal Junction Adenocarcinoma Patients.
This study was conducted to evaluate the clinical outcomes and toxicities of adjuvant treatment including S-1/cisplatin chemotherapy followed by S-1 based CRT.
Preclinical studies at our institution, using a genetic mouse model of gastric cancer, strongly suggest that innervation of the stomach wall is required not only for the development, but also for the progression of gastric cancer, and that denervation of the stomach either by vagotomy or by injection of botulinum toxin (Botox®) in the stomach wall may represent an effective therapeutic intervention. New treatment options for inoperable cancer in the stomach are urgently needed, and local treatment with botulinum toxin seems to be an attractive possibility. In this pilot study Botox injections will be given by gastroscopy in both the tumor and the surrounding stomach wall. The purpose of the study is to obtain data needed to calculate sample size in a larger controlled trial.
Statins are commonly used as cholesterol-lowering medications and have shown effectiveness in the primary and secondary prevention of heart attack and stroke. In addition, several recent studies of human cancer cell lines and animal tumor models indicate that statins may have chemopreventive properties through the arresting of cell-cycle progression. The chemopreventive effect of statins was demonstrated in some kind of human tumors including colorectal cancer. In addition, recent one large epidemiologic study showed that statins decreased risk of gastric cancer. On the other hands, it has been well known that Helicobacter pylori infection induces gastric atrophy and intestinal metaplasia, which are premalignant lesions of gastric cancer. Progression of these premalignant lesions could be limited by H. pylori eradication. In addition, a recent double blind randomization study revealed that simvastatin as adjuvant to standard therapy improves significantly the H. pylori eradication rate. Therefore, investigators conjecture that statins may have an adjuvant role for inhibition of gastric carcinogenesis. investigators aim to evaluate the role of statins in gastric carcinogenesis by observing the changes of gastric inflammation under statins.
Laparoscopic sentinel lymph node biopsy and stomach preserving surgery in early gastric cancer is less invasive method which can increase quality of life. For last two years, multicenter quality control study (Phase II) has been performed in Korea and tolerable results were observed. Based on these results, multicenter phase III trial is required to validate the clinical role of laparoscopic sentinel lymph node biopsy.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the antitumor effect and safety of clinical effectiveness dendritic cell activated Cytokine induced killer treatment (DC-CIK) plus S-1 based chemotherapy for advanced gastric cancer.
This non-interventional study will assess the occurrence rate of non-small cell lung cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, gastric cancer and malignant melanoma in Turkey, and the diagnostic methods and treatments used. Data will be collected over 36 months.
This double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, multicenter, international, parallel arm study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of pertuzumab in combination with trastuzumab, fluoropyrimidine and cisplatin as first-line treatment in participants with HER2-positive metastatic gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) or gastric cancer (GC). Participants will be randomized to receive pertuzumab 840 milligrams (mg) or placebo intravenously every 3 weeks (q3w) in combination with trastuzumab (initial dose of 8 milligrams per kilogram [mg/kg] intravenously [IV] followed by 6 mg/kg IV q3w) and cisplatin and fluoropyrimidine (capecitabine or 5-fluorouracil) for the first 6 treatment cycles. Participants will continue to receive pertuzumab or placebo and trastuzumab until disease progression occurrence of unacceptable toxicity or withdrawal from the study for another reason.
