Pelvic Floor Exercise Before Surgery in Women With Pelvic Organ Prolapse

The lifetime risk for a woman to undergo surgery for either vaginal prolapse or urinary incontinence is high. There are many different surgical techniques for treatment of prolapse, but there is a lack of knowledge about factors that contribute to objective result and patient satisfaction after surgery. The aim of the study is to investigate factors that could be related to patient satisfaction and objective result such as pelvic floor muscle contractility/strength and muscle injury, objective measures of prolapse and women's symptoms. This study will investigate whether systematic pelvic floor exercise and life style advise before surgery can improve outcomes after surgery for either vaginal prolapse. Another aim is to determine an ultrasound scale for measure of pelvic floor muscle contraction.

Laparoscopic Ventral Mesh Rectopexy Combined With or Without Stapled Trans-anal Rectal Resection for Obstructed Defecation Syndrome

Obstructed defecation syndrome (ODS) is a common problem in women. Rectal prolapse and rectocoele are frequently identified in patients with ODS. Surgery is the only definite treatment for those patients and is preferably performed minimally invasive. The most used procedures are laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy (LVMR) and stapled trans-anal rectal resection (STARR). However, high-level prospective studies on treatment strategies for ODS currently are lacking and, thus, no consensus exist regarding the optimal treatment for patients with ODS. This study aimed to compare LVMR alone and LVMR combined with STARR evaluating functional and anatomical results.

The Effect of Pessary Post Vaginal Prolapse Repair, for One Month, to Reduce the Recurrence Rate of Prolapse

Genital prolapse is a common complain. 30-40% of women will complain of uterine prolapse or cystocele or rectocele, or mixed. About half of them will require surgical repair for the prolapse, with or without hysterectomy. Of these patients about 30-40% will have recurrence of the prolapse, which in some cases requires second operation. In this study the investigators want to investigate whether a vaginal pessary inserting in the end of the primary surgery, for 4 weeks, will reduce the recurrence rate.

The LIFT study will document the first clinical use of the ZiftLift Tissue Anchor in a browlift for patients with age-related brow ptosis. It is a single arm, open label multicenter study, to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Zift Lift System. Up to 20 subjects in up to 3 sites will be enrolled in this study. Data from this trial will be used to confirm the device safety and efficacy and provide inputs to further refine the device design and procedure technique for future device iterations

Comparison of the Efficacy of Sacrocolpopexy, the Amreich-Richter Procedure and Transvaginal Mesh

Pelvic organ prolapse, POP, is a common health problem affecting up to 40% of women. Very little is known about the factors associated with surgical failure. Studies have identified a variety of risk factors: younger age, high body mass index and advanced preoperative prolapse (grade III-IV) have been associated with an increased risk of reoperation in some studies. According to some studies patients had poorer anatomical outcome after traditional repairs but were able to enjoy the same quality of life as after transvaginal mesh surgery or laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy. The purpose of this study is to assess and compare the efficacy of these three procedures in a randomized controlled trial.
