Filter by:A prospective, single arm, multi-center clinical study to evaluate the safety and performance of the SRS (Lyra Medical) vaginal mesh in POP patients
Our study is a non-randomized prospective study compared two groups matched for anterior/apical POP-Q grade: 84 received Elevate Ant™ single-incision mesh (group A) and 42 Perigee™ transvaginal mesh (group B). The study hypothesis was that the Elevate Ant™ mesh would provide better apical correction than the Perigee™ mesh. One- and 2-year follow-up comprised anatomic assessment (POP-Q) and QoL (PFDI-20, PFIQ-7, PISQ-12). Success was defined as 2-year POP-Q ≤1. Secondary endpoints were function and complications.
The objective of the Preoperative Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification (POPQ) versus Simulated Apical Support as a Guideline for Anterior or Posterior Repair at the Time of Transvaginal Apical Suspension (PREPARE) trial is to compare surgical outcomes of POPQ-based surgery with simulated apical support-based surgery for anterior or posterior vaginal wall prolapse at the time of transvaginal apical suspension.
Female pelvic organ prolapse (FPOP) is one of the main diseases affecting the quality of life of middle aged and elderly women in non-neoplastic diseases. An aging population makes the incidence of this disease to increase year by year. Surgical operation is the main treatment. While the recurrence rate of classic repair surgery is high, the method of patch implantation reinforces the supporting force, which significantly reduce the recurrence rate. However, this method is costly and is associated with complications which may trigger new symptoms. As such, there is still no perfect surgical method. The main reason for this is that the assessment method of pelvic defects is crude and indirect, which results in the diagnosis of FPOP only representing external problems whereas, inner defected parts are not properly assessed. In recent years, research with the use of 2D and 3D MRI reconstructions on the anus levator muscle and ligament has become a hot topic. It found that the characteristic of the high resolution of soft tissue in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has a big advantage in pelvic floor study.The investigators commenced the study of 3D reconstruction technology based on the MRI datasets in 2009. The investigators have mastered the most common, key technologies of MRI three-dimensional reconstruction. The investigators have done research targeted on the reconstruction methods of the normal pelvis, viscera, ligaments, pelvic floor muscles. This project is aimed at 3D reconstruction of the whole pelvic base on static and dynamic MRI images from FPOP patients, and establish the corresponding space coordinates assessment system to do location and quantitative research of the pelvic viscera and its support structure, thus providing a FPOP diagnosis platform that is more precise, direct and comprehensive.
Purpose: To assess the impact of gabapentin versus placebo on overall postoperative pain and gluteal pain at 7 days after vaginal sacrospinous ligament suspension for apical pelvic organ prolapse. Participants: English-speaking women planning to undergo a vaginal SSLF. Concurrent procedures can be performed except total vaginal hysterectomy, colpocleisis, anal sphincteroplasty, fistula surgery, or urethral diverticulectomy Procedures (methods): Patients will be randomized to receive either 2 weeks of gabapentin or placebo for 2 weeks post-operatively. Standard of care pain medications will be given to both groups. Patients will be followed for 6 weeks post-operatively.
This is research in which students are queried by questionnaires on their satisfaction with and experience with certain educational practices (use of a camera image projecting during a live surgery) or with pre-recorded video. As data collection only involves survey data collection and satisfaction with an educational experience, and randomization/intervention is only involving use of one type of educational method versus another .
Mitral insufficiency (MI) accounts for 24% of adult valvulopathies and affects 7% of subjects older than 75 years. They are the second leading cause of valvulopathy in Europe. The most common etiology is the associated valvular prolapse. Mitral surgery remains the reference treatment for symptomatic MI. The success of this procedure depends on the mitral valve geometry and the location of the prolapse. The site of the prolapse, whether monovalvular, localized to the posterior or anterior leaflet, or bivalvular, influences the possibilities and probably the long-term results of the plasty.
To date no study has determined prospectively which technique is superior to prevent recurrent Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) after vaginal hysterectomy- a major unmet clinical need. The aim of the study is to determine objective anatomical recurrent prolapse after Sacrospinous Ligament Fixation (SLF) vs McCall.
Pelvic organ prolapse repair involves conservative treatments and surgical treatments. Conservative treatments are for patients with moderate prolapse. Treatment of symptomatic prolapse remains essentially surgical. According to detailed medical history and a thorough physical exam, surgical techniques may be performed by high abdominal, low vaginal or mixed routes with or without the use of a reinforcing implant. Restorelle Direct Fix is indicated for transvaginal anterior and posterior surgical repair either as mechanical support or as reinforcement of pelvic floor defects. Advantages and disadvantages of vaginal prostheses are known but only limited data have been reported on the use of Restorelle® in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse. This study is designed to collect data on the safety and efficacy of Restorelle® Direct Fix in pelvic organ prolapse repair.
The primary purpose is to evaluate the quality of post-operative recovery and post-operative pain in elderly patients (more than 75 years) who undergo laparoscopic surgery for uterine prolapse.
