Since there have been no published dose-response studies investigating the effective analgesic dose of ropivacaine for use in a TAP block for post-Cesarean delivery analgesia, the investigators propose a study primarily examining the effect on 24 hour post-Cesarean delivery opioid consumption of using either a placebo, 0.25% ropivacaine, 0.5% ropivacaine, or 0.75% ropivacaine for TAP blocks.

Postoperative pain, nausea and vomiting (PONV) are the most common complications after anesthesia and surgery. Women undergoing mastectomy with axillary dissection are at a particularly high risk for the development of PONV and an incidence of 60-80% in patients receiving no antiemetic has been reported. Emetic episodes predispose to aspiration of gastric contents, wound dehiscence, psychological distress, and delayed recovery and discharge times. These justify the use of prophylactic antiemetics in women scheduled for mastectomy. Most of the currently used antiemetics, including antihistamines, butyrophenones and dopamine receptor antagonists have been reported to cause occasional undesirable adverse effects, such as excessive sedation, hypotension, dry mouth, dysphoria, hallucinations and extrapyramidal signs. Antiserotonins (e.g., ondansetron) are available for the prevention and treatment of PONV in patients undergoing various types of surgery [4]. However, the use of prophylactic antiemetic therapy with antiserotonins has been criticized for being too expensive. Dexamethasone was first reported to be an effective antiemetic regimen in patients receiving cancer chemotherapy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of dexamethasone treatment for reducing pain and PONV as well as analgesic and antiemetic requirements in women undergoing general anesthesia for mastectomy with axillary lymph node dissection.
Objectives: Primary objective: - To demonstrate that the treatment with OXN PR tablets up to 72 hrs after surgery is superior to the treatment with OxyPR with regards to constipation in subjects with postoperative pain after laparoscopic hysterectomy based on interviews 24h, 72 h and 1 week postoperatively. The secondary objectives: - Analgesic effect (including registration during the first 24 hrs) - To asses the frequency of pain rescue mediation use (in the double-blind phase, 0-72 hrs) - Frequency of nausea and vomiting - Frequency of other adverse events - Appetite - Mobilization The exploratory objectives: - Overall patient satisfaction at 24, 72 hrs and 1 week
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of 125 mg methylprednisolone, given intravenously 60-90 minutes before abdominal surgery,on the postoperative rehabilitation after abdominal hysterectomy.Sodium Chloride is the placebo. The following parameters are registered: 1. Pain 3, 6 and 24 hours postoperatively and 2-7 days after surgery. 2. The postoperative use of additional analgesics. 3. Inflammatory parameters before and after surgery. 4. Time until mobilization. 5. Time until discharge.

The purpose of this study is to determine the incidence of pain, emergence delirium and the combination of those postoperative negative behaviours during the first 15 minutes after awakening from sevoflurane anesthesia in pre-school children.
