NCT ID: NCT05072743 Recruiting - Sleep Disorder Clinical Trials

Improvement in Sleep Symptomatology and Neurocognitive Function Using Photobiomodulation in Post-Concussion Patients

Start date: October 20, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The emphasis on this study is to review the use of PBMT as a potential treatment modality to improve both sleep symptoms and consequent neuropsychological functions affected by sleep disturbances in a cohort of post-mTBI patients with sleep issues not secondary to sleep apnea.

NCT ID: NCT05062148 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Traumatic Brain Injury

Fundamental and Applied Concussion Recovery Modality Research and Development: Applications for the Enhanced Recovery

Start date: September 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This research is being done to understand the role of different recovery methods in healing time after athletic or sports related concussion.

NCT ID: NCT04982562 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Post-Concussion Syndrome

Interest of the 7 Tesla MRI in the Diagnosis of Post-concussion Syndromes Among Patients With Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

SPIN
Start date: June 26, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

We aimed to conduct a prospective longitudinal interventionnal monocentric study to assess the ability of seven tesla MRI to detect diffuses axonal lesions in patients presenting a post concussional syndrom (PCS) at seven days about a mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI). Our first objective was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of seven tesla MRI runned at seven days after MTBI among patients presenting a PCS.

NCT ID: NCT04978571 Recruiting - COVID-19 Clinical Trials

Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Field Stimulation (PENFS) in Patients With Post Concussion Syndrome (PCS)

Start date: February 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to test the effect of Auricular Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Field Stimulation (a Neurostim device) on children with pain and Post Concussion symptoms. An additional purpose of this study is to demonstrate that PENFS improves functioning in children with post Covid-19 symptoms.

NCT ID: NCT04820192 Completed - Clinical trials for Post-Concussion Syndrome

Craniosacral Therapy for Concussion Symptoms

Start date: January 15, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study investigated the utilization of CranioSacral Therapy (CST) in patients with Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) and capture patient-reported perceptions of their lived experiences of treatment effect upon their symptoms. The first part part was a 10 year chart review of patients who sought out CST to capture data from the medical records. The second part was an anonymous post treatment survey.

NCT ID: NCT04770116 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Concussion Post Syndrome

Auditory Slow Wave Enhancement After Concussion

Start date: May 31, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The prevalence of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in children and adolescents is around 30% with 70-90% being classified as mild (concussion). Because the brain of a child is still developing, a TBI can have devastating effects and possibly creates lifetime challenges. Sleep seems to play an important role in the post-concussion recovery process. Auditory stimulation during sleep has been shown to reliably boost slow waves, a solid marker for the depth of sleep, and can thus be used to deepen sleep. This study aims to investigate the effects of sleep enhancement via auditory stimulation on recovery after a concussion in children and adolescents in their home. Therefore, half of the patients receive one week of auditory stimulation during deep sleep at their home using a mobile device. The other half follows the same study protocol, but no tones are administered (sham). Cognitive tests as well as symptom questionnaires are used to assess the recovery process. It is hypothesized that the patients in the intervention group will recover better than the ones who haven't received the intervention. Additionally, a group of children and adolescents who never sustained a concussion is included as a control.

NCT ID: NCT04760899 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Post-Concussion Syndrome

Cerebellar tDCS for SRPCS Treatment

Start date: March 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is investigating the immediate and long-term effects of bilateral cerebellar transcranial direct current stimulation on cognition, balance, and symptom severity in people with sports-related post-concussion syndrome. The central hypothesis is that tDCS will provide improvements in cognitive deficits, balance, and overall symptom attenuation in people with SRPCS both acutely and at 2 and 4 week follow ups. The researchers further hypothesize that cerebellar tDCS will ameliorate the symptoms of people with SRPCS.

NCT ID: NCT04744051 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Post-Concussion Syndrome

ATCellâ„¢ Expanded Autologous, Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Deployed Via Intravenous Infusion

Start date: February 1, 2021
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This is a Phase 1 Clinical Safety Study intended to provide preliminary assessments of the safety, tolerability, and clinical alleviation of symptoms associated with Post Concussion Syndrome (PCS), also known as Chronic Concussive Syndrome (CCS).

NCT ID: NCT04732338 Completed - Headache Clinical Trials

The Effectiveness of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine in the Management of Headaches Associated With Post Concussion Syndrome

Start date: August 1, 2017
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Pilot study looking at the Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) for various headache types in patients with post-concussion syndrome (PCS). Twenty-six subjects with symptoms lasting >3 months were enrolled and were randomly assigned to a treatment group (n = 13) and a control group (n = 13).

NCT ID: NCT04708522 Not yet recruiting - Depressive Symptoms Clinical Trials

Breath Control and Mindfulness for Post Concussion Anxiety and Depression: a Feasibility Study

Start date: January 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Persistent-post-concussion symptoms (PPCS) is a condition that effects on average one in seven persons following a concussion. Anxiety and depression symptoms are experienced by over one-third of those with PPCS. These symptoms can delay recovery from a concussion. Two techniques used to treat anxiety and depression symptoms are breath control and mindfulness exercises. This 8-week feasibility study will evaluate the implementation and compliance of a remote delivered breathing and mindfulness treatment program for individuals experiencing PPCS anxiety or depression symptoms.
