Comparison of Micro-dose Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) With Human Menopausal Gonadotropin (HMG) in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of low dose human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in combination with clomiphen citrate to induce ovulation and its endocrine response in patients who had previously failed to ovulate on clomiphen citrate alone. The investigators will also compare the effectiveness and endocrine response of this approach with the regimen of adding HMG to clomiphen citrate.

Etiological Factors of Obesity-Associated Hyperandrogenemia in Peripubertal Girls

The purpose of this study is to learn if obese pre- and early pubertal girls with hyperandrogenemia (HA) are more insulin resistant (i.e., have lower insulin-stimulated glucose disposal) compared to obese peripubertal girls without HA; and that overnight mean luteinizing hormone (LH) concentration is also an independent predictor of free testosterone concentrations, especially in mid- to late pubertal girls.

Effects of Fenofibrate on Metabolic and Reproductive Parameters in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

This is a prospective randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial of 6 months' duration evaluating the effect of fenofibrate (200 mg/day) in females with polycystic ovary syndrome and mild hypertriglyceridemia. The investigators primary objective will be to determine whether fenofibrate will reduce hepatic adiposity as measured using MRI, and our secondary outcomes will be to delineate the impact of fenofibrate on biochemical or clinical parameters for insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, and reproductive status.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): A Comparison Between Standard Long Protocol Versus an Antagonist Protocol Starting on Day 1

The aim of this study is to compare two different IVF-stimulation protocols in patients affected by PCOS: the use of a Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) - antagonist starting on day 1 of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) versus a standard long agonist protocol; in order to assess whether it affects the number and quality of Metaphase II (MII) oocytes while reducing the risk of hyperstimulation. Since PCOS patients are also likely to be insulin resistant we also aim to evaluate how metformin affects tha IVF stimulation outcome.
