Filter by:The purpose of this study is to provide a go/no-go decision for a randomized expansion study by assessing the disease control rate (DCR) at 6 weeks for the combination of olaptesed pegol on top of pembrolizumab and (Arm 1) nanoliposomal irinotecan, 5-FU and leucovorin or (Arm 2) gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel, to assess safety and tolerability and time-to-event endpoints.
Nowadays pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest oncological pathologies. The only effective curative tool is the surgery. Before the intervention, an endoscopic ultrasound is performed on the patient to carry out the biopsy of the main tumor. In this study, the echoendoscopie will be extended to lymph node staging away from the surgical field in order to implement a simple classification of lymph nodes, based on non-invasive ultrasound criteria. This would facilitate the location and qualification of peripancreatic lymph nodes and distant from the tumor, and therefore the staging of the tumor.
Since patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer have a limited life expectancy, it is important to determine the timing of when to start chemotherapy in order to optimize the benefits of chemotherapy relative to the side effects. Therefore, two treatment strategies can be considered: chemotherapy started immediately at diagnosis, or delayed until disease-related symptoms occur.
Background: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal types of cancer. ASCP is a highly aggressive type of pancreatic cancer. It is very rare. Researchers want to see if a drug called Minnelide can be used to treat ASCP. Objective: To see if Minnelide is an effective treatment for ASCP. Eligibility: Adults ages 18 and older with ASCP whose cancer did not respond to previous treatments. Design: Participants will be screened with: Medical history Physical exam Blood and urine samples Evaluation of ability to do daily activities Electrocardiogram to test heart function Body and/or brain scans. For these, participants will lie in a machine that takes pictures of the body. They may have a contrast agent injected into a vein. Tumor sample. If one is not available, participants will have a tumor biopsy. The biopsy will be taken with a small needle put through the skin into the tumor. Treatment will be given in 28-day cycles, for up to 12 cycles. There is a 7-day resting period between cycles. Participants will take Minnelide by mouth every day for 21 days of each cycle. They will keep a medicine diary. Participants will have at least 1 study visit every cycle. They will review their medicine diary. They will repeat some screening tests. Participants may have optional tumor biopsies. Some participants may need to take birth control during the study and for up to 6 months after treatment. Participants will have an end-of-treatment visit 4 weeks after they stop taking the study drug. They will repeat some screening tests.
This is an interventional, single arm, open-label, feasibility trial with gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel, followed by concomitant proton therapy and capecitabine, followed by re-evaluation and surgery (when feasible) for patients with borderline resectable pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is mainly seen among elderly subjects as more than 85 % of all patients are diagnosed after 60 years of age. Pancreatic surgery in the elderly is usually well tolerated, and the postoperative mortality has decreased and today is less than 5 % in high-volume centers. When offering an old patient pancreatic surgery for a malignant disease it is important to evaluate not only the probability that the patient may survive the operation, but also the relevance of an operation in relation to the patient's remnant life expectancy and other treatment options than surgery. This problem has not been addressed in most studies on pancreatic surgery in the elderly, in which the outcome after surgery was the end point. The endpoints of the present study are the post-operative survival and surgical complications after major pancreatic surgery in all patients operated in the study period, and the long-term survival of patients operated for adenocarcinomas. These endpoints were set from the assumption that the postoperative mortality is related to age and comorbidity, while the long-term survival is influenced by the primary disease.
GMG ArcData will create a mobile-based application to improve communications and data exchange among patients and navigators involved in new pancreas surgery oncology episodes of care. Functionality will align with care processes using smartphone and the EHR patient portal. GMG will apply user-centered design theory and behavioral psychology approaches to co-design, develop, and test usability of features that optimize patient navigators-patient encounters on scheduling issues, nutrition guidance, pain management, wellbeing assessments, and activity tracking. Evaluation endpoints will reflect how the application improves the efficiency of workflows and lessens cognitive burden. Study will assess how patients and navigators perceive the tool's ability to provide more control and easier access to information about surgical care. The key project innovations are based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR)-based engineering standards that enable interoperability among digital health platforms, apply 'recommender' functions based on similar patients' experiences, and exploit microeducation tools to enhance patient understanding about their surgical care. The research team has partnered with MedStar Health and Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center to co-design the software and access patients for usability testing. Successful implementation will lead to exploring a joint venture for scaling to other care episodes, expanded functionality, and co-creating business models for commercialization.
This study investiagates deep-regional or superficial hyperthermia to enhance radiotherapy or chemoradiation in patients that suffer recurrent disease after previous radiotherapy.
To collect and characterise the incidence of adverse events related to the safety specifications of the maintenance treatment after platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with BRCA mutated pancreatic cancer under the actual post-marketing use of LYNPAZA.
This phase II trial studies the effects of lenvatinib and pembrolizumab maintenance therapy in treating patients with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other places in the body (advanced) and cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable). Lenvatinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as pembrolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving lenvatinib and pembrolizumab may be effective as a maintenance therapy in patients with pancreatic cancer.
