EpiDetect Study: Clinical Validation of a Pancreatic Cancer Detection Test in New-Onset Diabetes Patients

Bluestar Genomics has developed a non-invasive test that aids in the qualitative detection of occult pancreatic cancer in patients with new onset type II diabetes (NOD) who are 50 years old or older. The purpose of this study is to validate the performance of Bluestar Genomics early-detection pancreatic cancer test. The study is prospective, longitudinal and interventional; tests will be ordered and results returned to site-investigators. If the assay returns a pancreatic cancer signal "detected" result, the study participant will undergo MRI imaging to evaluate for the presence of pancreatic cancer. The study is planned to enroll 10,000 newly diagnosed type II diabetic subjects according to inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Correlation Between Elastic Modulus of Ultrasonic Shear Wave and Tumor Stromal Component in Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is a gastrointestinal tumor with a high degree of malignancy. Currently, there are many first-line chemotherapy regimens in clinical practice, but the individual selection of chemotherapy regimens has not been unanimously recognized.This study is aimed at exploring the correlation between the two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D - SWE) parameters and pancreatic cancer stromal elements proportion through an ultrasound scan for resectable pancreatic cancer cases and postoperative pathological specimen analysis. Then determine if the pancreatic cancer two-dimensional shear wave elastography can guide clinicians selecting chemotherapy scheme by predicting tumor stromal elements .These results are expected to provide an effective non-invasive diagnostic basis for individualized treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Radiation Therapy (RT) and Chemotherapy for the Treatment of Pancreatic Cancer With Homologous Recombination Deficiency That Has Spread to the Liver

The researchers are doing this study to test the combination of radiation therapy (RT) and low dose chemotherapy in people with metastatic pancreatic cancer that has a homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) and has spread to the liver. The researchers will try to find the highest safe and effective dose of individualized dose-painted RT that can be given to the liver when combined with standard low dose chemotherapy. The conformal dose painted RT treatment plan will include higher doses of radiation to the areas of the liver where tumors can be seen, and a lower dose to the entire liver. The study will also look at blood samples from participants to learn why some people may respond to study treatment (whole liver RT in combination with low dose chemotherapy) better than others.

Survival Analysis After Neoadjuvant Therapy in Patients With Resectable Pancreatic Cancer and Risk Factors

Resectable Pancreatic Cancer represents an important health problem not because of its incidence, but because of its high mortality. Diagnosis in the initial stages is difficult, since the first symptoms of disease are often nonspecific. Only 15 - 25% of patients would undergo surgery with curative resection at the time of initial diagnosis. There is no an effective screening test for early diagnosis. A characteristic that defines the pancreatic adenocarcinoma is its aggressiveness. There is a high prevalence of patients who present metastatic disease at the time of diagnosis, therefore, it is evident that this tumor is capable of early systemic spread. Starting from the high prevalence of patients who experience metastatic disease shortly after undergoing a potentially curative resection, it is likely that at the time of diagnosis, the majority of pancreatic adenocarcinomas have progressed to systemic spread. The overall 5-year survival of the patients is 5.8% and has not increased in the last 10 years; the 5-year survival rate after curative surgery is not higher (7%). Patients with resectable adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, only 15% are diagnosed at an early stage (T1, T2 without lymph node involvement), these are associated with improved survival. The surgery required to treat pancreatic cancer is aggressive. To optimize results, you need to follow a series of guidelines strictly. The current standard treatment regimen for resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma is based on surgery plus adjuvant chemotherapy. With all this, the survival rate at five years after surgery is not greater than 7%, and in addition, there is a high percentage of patients who experience metastatic disease after surgical resection with curative intent. This indicates that at the time of diagnosis, it is likely that most adenocarcinomas pancreatic diseases have progressed to systemic spread. For this reason, for years there is a growing interest in investigating new therapeutic approaches, such as the role of neoadjuvant therapy.

Intraoperative Radiation Therapy for Resectable Pancreatic Cancer

This phase II study is designed to investigate the efficacy of intraoperative radiotherapy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with resectable pancreatic cancer. The purpose of the study is to show the local recurrence rate after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and IORT is superior to that of surgical resection alone from the historical control. A total of 80 patients will be enrolled, and these patients will receive IORT of 10 Gy at 5 millimeter depth of the tumor bed, following neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

This is a prospective, randomized, multicenter, open-label, blinded-endpoint Phase III clinical trial to investigate the impact of thromboprophylaxis using innohep, beyond anticoagulation in the improvement of the clinical outcomes in active pancreatic cancer patients receiving systemic anti-neoplasmatic treatment. The number of patients that will be enrolled is 450. The enrollment period is 24 months and the follow up period is 10 months.

PET Imaging of Solid Tumors by a Novel Tracer, 68Ga-FAPI

Cancers of the pancreas, bile ducts, stomach and ovaries are dismal diseases with most patients being diagnosed in advanced stages leading to a bad prognosis. These cancers can be difficult to diagnose and sometimes impossible to differentiate from underlying benign conditions. Establishing the correct diagnosis of primary cancer lesions and possible spread to other organs in time is pivotal for choosing the right therapy. Routinely applied staging procedures are however not always reliable. The main aim in this study is to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of PET/CT with a novel radiotracer, FAPI, in the primary diagnosis of cancers in the pancreas, stomach and bile ducts as well as in patients with primary and recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).
