Testing the PD-1 Antibody, MK3475, Given With Ziv-aflibercept in Patients With Advanced Cancer

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of ziv-aflibercept when given together with pembrolizumab in treating patients with solid tumors that that may have spread from where it first started to nearby tissue, lymph nodes, or distant parts of the body (advanced). Ziv-afibercept works by decreasing blood and nutrient supply to the tumor, which may result in shrinking the tumor. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as pembrolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving ziv-aflibercept together with pembrolizumab may be a better treatment for patients with advanced solid tumors.

This study hopes to improve early detection of ovarian and endometrial cancers. It will determine if women with bloating, abdominal distension, abdominal/pelvic pain, increased urinary frequency and/or early satiety, benefit from earlier surgery after screening by CA-125 ovarian cancer biomarker and transvaginal ultrasound.

In this prospective, observational study the investigators assess the perioperative course of right ventricular function in combination with the venous return in patients undergoing major non-cardiac surgery. The study aims to investigate if patients undergoing major non-cardiac surgery develop an impairment of right ventricular function and/or venous return. Furthermore, the study evaluates if an impairment of right ventricular function and/or venous return is associated to left ventricular function, arterial side of the circulation and to postoperative clinical outcome.
