Filter by:Non-interventional, multicenter, prospective, European study to describe the effectiveness of trabectedin + PLD in the treatment of relapsed ovarian cancer (ROC) patients according to SmPC regardless of previous use of an antiangiogenic drug
This is a prospective, gold standard observational trial designed to enroll consecutive, consenting ovarian cancer patients for the purpose of determining sensitivity of an assay that detects circulating tumor DNA. This observational pilot trial will also be used to examine the genetic variants/mutations present in the tumor tissue DNA.
Ovarian cancer is a major cause of cancer related death among women. The disease is usually advanced at diagnosis, because specialist referral is delayed due to vague nature of presenting symptoms. Primary treatment is successful, but most patients experience recurrence. Complaints due to disease and therapy overlap. Furthermore treatment schedules are similar in response rate and survival rates. Toxicity of therapy as scored by the physician is best documented, but varies depending on type of chemotherapy. Moreover most knowledge is acquired in clinical trials and not in daily practice. Patient reported outcome (PROs) concerning effects on symptoms, velocity of relief and quality of life (QoL) by the different regimens is sparce. Also it is unknown which symptoms are best relieved. Most trials take into account progression or survival as primary endpoint but not often symptom relief, which is especially important for patients with recurrent disease, without no chance of cure anymore. Knowledge on rating of problems and needs of patients with recurrent ovarian cancer (ROC) to support them in the course of their disease is needed to come to an evidence based and patient centered treatment of choice together with the patient. Physicians most frequently use the Common Toxicity Criteria (CTC) scale for grading of side effects of treatment, but discrepancies with patient experiences is high. Routine collection of PROs may therefore improve patient expectations and management. In this project the investigators intend to augment knowledge by PROs of different chemotherapy schedules for recurrent ovarian cancer in order to improve shared decision making with the physician. Objective: primary objective of this project is to explore the relief of symptoms due to ROC, the speed with which this occurs by different chemotherapy schedules and development of complaints due to the regimen of chemotherapy. Secondary the investigators intend (1) to assess preferential symptom relief by patients, (2) to correlate toxicity and symptoms of disease to tumor assessed response to chemotherapy and (3) to correlate symptom relief by psychosocial context.

This study evaluates the therapeutic response by modern FMRI and PET techniques with the perspective to exploit multimodal data (fusion MRI/PET). The Sponsor would like to optimize the respective performances and to define the early assessment criteria, at the first detox, of the treatment efficacy, with and without antiangiogenic agent.
This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of lenvatinib mesylate when given together with paclitaxel in treating patients with endometrial, ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer that has come back or grown. Lenvatinib mesylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking a protein needed for cell growth and may block the growth of new blood vessels necessary for tumor growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving lenvatinib mesylate and paclitaxel together may work better in treating patients with endometrial, ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer.
To evaluate whether formal referral to The Symptom Management and Supportive Care Clinic improves symptom burden in advanced stage or recurrent gynecologic oncology chemotherapy patients compared with symptom management performed by the primary gynecologic oncologist.
The purpose of this study is to identify the most effective means of follow-up for women who screen positive on B-RST (Breast Cancer Genetics Referral Screening Tool) applied in the standard clinical setting of mammography, to maximize the number who are referred to and receive cancer genetic counseling services. The clinical utility of B-RST 3.0 will also be evaluated by determining the number seen who are appropriate for genetic testing, undergo genetic testing and are found to carry a hereditary cancer gene mutations with medical management implications for the patient and family. The long-term goal is to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with hereditary causes of breast and ovarian cancer among patients seen in the Emory/Winship system.
This is a randomized parallel group trial designed to evaluate the impact of implementing geriatrician-prescribed interventions based on the comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA), on the ability to deliver adequate chemotherapy treatment, as measured by relative dose intensity (RDI).
ANGLE has developed the Parsortix™ Cell Separation System (Parsortix), an automated system capable of harvesting rare circulating cells for analysis from a sample of peripheral blood based on cellular size and deformability. In a small pilot study, scientists at the Medical University of Vienna demonstrated that measurement of a combination of mRNA markers extracted from CTCs captured using the Parsortix system could be used to identify women with ovarian cancer. This study is designed to provide specimens for optimization of an assay using clinical and biomarker information (i.e. demographics, imaging results and/or serum tumor markers) in combination with mRNA extracted from rare cells in the blood of women presenting with a pelvic mass for the detection of malignancy. Primary Objective: Optimization of an assay for the differentiation of women with benign pelvic masses from those with malignant pelvic masses using mRNA markers extracted from CTCs isolated from whole blood. Multiple serum tumor markers and mRNA markers will be measured, and the results will be compared to the actual clinical diagnosis made for each patient through other recognized methods (e.g. histopathology). The blood samples collected in the course of this study will be used to finalize the selection of mRNA and/or serum tumor markers to be evaluated in future prospective studies. Exploratory Objective: Use statistical modeling to determine the need for and/or preliminary design of a mathematical algorithm to combine the multiple serum tumor and/or mRNA markers for estimation of the risk of ovarian cancer.
