NCT ID: NCT00465725 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

A Study Comparing Oral Picoplatin With Intravenous Picoplatin in Subjects With Solid Tumors

Start date: April 2007
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Picoplatin is a new platinum-based chemotherapy drug that has been studied in a variety of cancers. Phase 1 and 2 studies have demonstrated that picoplatin may be effective in patients whose cancer returns or does not improve after treatment with chemotherapy. In these studies, picoplatin was administered intravenously. A capsule containing picoplatin has been formulated. This study will investigate the activity of the oral capsule in humans. Participants with advanced solid tumors will be enrolled.

NCT ID: NCT00461786 Completed - Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trials

A Study of Single Agent Pemetrexed Disodium in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Persistent Ovarian or Primary Peritoneal Cancer

Start date: September 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary purpose of this trial is to estimate the drug effect on tumors in patients with ovarian or primary peritoneal cancers. Patients will receive Pemetrexed every 21 days until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. This medication will be given over 10 minutes and may be administered intravenously (IV), through a vein in your arm. Vitamin supplementation is a required part of this study.

NCT ID: NCT00459290 Completed - Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trials

Mifepristone in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Persistent Ovarian Epithelial, Primary Peritoneal, or Fallopian Tube Cancer

Start date: May 2007
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Progesterone can cause the growth of ovarian epithelial cancer , primary peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer. Hormone therapy using mifepristone may fight ovarian epithelial cancer and primary peritoneal cancer by lowering the amount of progesterone the body makes. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well mifepristone works in treating patients with recurrent or persistent ovarian epithelial cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00453310 Completed - Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trials

Sunitinib in Treating Patients With Metastatic Germ Cell Tumors That Have Relapsed or Not Responded to Treatment

Start date: March 2007
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Sunitinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well sunitinib works in treating patients with metastatic germ cell tumors that have relapsed or not responded to treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00445965 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Iodine I 131 Monoclonal Antibody 3F8 in Treating Patients With Central Nervous System Cancer or Leptomeningeal Cancer

Start date: January 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies, such as iodine I 131 monoclonal antibody 3F8, can find tumor cells and carry tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. This may be an effective treatment for central nervous system cancer or leptomeningeal metastases. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well iodine I 131 monoclonal antibody 3F8 works in treating patients with central nervous system cancer or leptomeningeal cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00445887 Completed - Ovarian Carcinoma Clinical Trials

Levonorgestrel in Preventing Ovarian Cancer in Patients at High Risk for Ovarian Cancer

Start date: March 10, 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This randomized phase II trial is studying how well levonorgestrel works in preventing ovarian cancer in patients at high risk for ovarian cancer. Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs to keep cancer from forming. The use of levonorgestrel may prevent ovarian cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00444054 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

The RECHARGE Low Carbohydrate Diet Trial for Metastatic Cancer

RECHARGE
Start date: February 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is for people whose cancer: - has resisted chemotherapy - are taking a break from chemotherapy - or are looking for an alternative to the toxic effects of chemotherapy The trial is looking to see if a very low carbohydrate diet can inhibit the growth of certain cancers. The two major goals of the RECHARGE study are to determine: - whether a very low carbohydrate diet can help participants reduce the amount of cancer in their bodies (as measured by a PET scan at the beginning and end of the study) - whether participants can feel well while maintaining their weight on a very low carbohydrate diet This research study is for people with advanced cancers who decline chemotherapy or want to take a break from chemotherapy and have cancers that primarily feed on blood sugar. Examples of such cancers include metastatic breast cancer, colon cancer, cervical and uterine cancers, ovarian cancers, and many others. The investigators' intervention consists of a 28-day diet of high protein foods such as fish, poultry, meats, eggs and cheese as well as plenty of vegetables. Participants may eat as much of the high protein foods as they wish and can eat up to two cups of vegetables per day. Participants strictly eliminate carbohydrate-containing foods. These foods include all starches and sweets (breads, pasta, rice, potatoes, cereals, fruit, cakes, candies, soda with sugar, etc.).

NCT ID: NCT00437307 Completed - Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trials

Hycamtin Plus Carboplatin Versus Established Regimens for the Treatment of Ovarian Cancer Relapse

HECTOR
Start date: March 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Determination of progression free survival after 12 months of FU Determination of total survival, response and quality of life

NCT ID: NCT00436644 Completed - Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trials

Lapatinib and Topotecan in Treating Patients With Ovarian Epithelial Cancer or Primary Peritoneal Cancer That Did Not Respond to Cisplatin or Carboplatin

Start date: March 2007
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Lapatinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as topotecan, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving lapatinib together with topotecan may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving lapatinib together with topotecan works in treating patients with ovarian epithelial cancer or primary peritoneal cancer that did not respond to cisplatin or carboplatin.

NCT ID: NCT00436410 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Tumor Necrosis Factor in Patients Undergoing Surgery for Primary Cancer or Metastatic Cancer

Start date: December 2006
Phase: Phase 0
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Biological therapies, such as tumor necrosis factor, may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop tumor cells from growing. Studying tumor necrosis factor in samples of tumor tissue and healthy tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn how tumor necrosis factor works in tumor tissue and healthy tissue. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying tumor necrosis factor in patients undergoing surgery for primary cancer or metastatic cancer .
