Filter by:The goal of this study is to determine the apoptosis-inducing efficacy of TRA-8 in patient ovarian cancer tissues using a tissue slice technology. In addition, we want to evaluate the expression of apoptosis regulatory proteins using multiplex proteomic technology and its correlation with TRA-8-induced cytotoxicity in patient ovarian cancer tissues.
This research study is for individuals who have advanced breast, colon, pancreatic, ovarian or bladder cancer. Celldex Therapeutics, Inc. is testing a form of immune therapy (vaccine) to see if it can be used to make the immune system attack the cancer. The study includes administration of additional treatments, in combination, thought to enhance the immune response effect. (CDX 1307-01)
RATIONALE: Pemetrexed may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving pemetrexed together with cisplatin and paclitaxel and giving them in different ways may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of intraperitoneal pemetrexed when given together with intraperitoneal cisplatin and paclitaxel in treating patients with stage III ovarian epithelial cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer.
Studying samples of blood and tissue in the laboratory from patients with a high risk of developing ovarian cancer may help doctors identify and learn more about biomarkers related to cancer. We hypothesized that (i) preclinical biologic evidence exists for the role of androgens in ovarian cancer development and (ii) flutamide treatment of women at high risk for ovarian cancer may identify meaningful tissue biomarkers of androgen action and of ovarian cancer initiation. This phase II trial studied the effect of flutamide on biomarkers in blood and tissue samples from patients at high risk of ovarian cancer.
The purpose of this study is to determine the safest and maximum tolerated dosing regimens for intraperitoneal oxaliplatin with intravenous docetaxel and intravenous oxaliplatin with intraperitoneal docetaxel for recurrent ovarian, primary peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancer.
Sometimes, cancer comes back after it has been successfully treated—a situation called recurrent cancer. When recurrent cancer is suspected, the standard approach to diagnosis is to perform a combination of imaging tests, such as x-rays, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and nuclear medicine scans. Sometimes, however, after performing these tests it still may not be clear whether or not the cancer has come back. Some studies have shown that a diagnostic imaging test called Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) may be helpful in the diagnosis of recurrent lung, breast, head and neck, ovarian or esophageal cancer or lymphoma. However, it is not clear if PET/CT can offer better results than standard approaches to diagnosis. This feasibility study is needed to determine how common it is for a diagnosis of recurrent cancer to be unclear even after standard diagnostic imaging tests have been completed. If the enrollment goal is reached (~60 patients enrolled in 18 months), a larger clinical trial is being planned to determine if PET/CT is helpful in making the diagnosis of recurrent cancer in situations where standard imaging tests have not been helpful. It is also expected that the results of this feasibility study will help to define exactly which patients should be enrolled in this larger clinical trial of PET/CT.
RATIONALE: A disease management program may be more effective than standard therapy in improving quality of life and controlling symptoms in patients with cancer. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying a disease management program to see how well it works compared with usual care in patients with stage III or stage IV lung cancer, stage III or stage IV pancreatic cancer, stage III or stage IV ovarian cancer, or stage III or stage IV colorectal cancer, and their caregivers.
This study is open to women with recurrent epithelial ovarian carcinoma or primary peritoneal cancer. Subjects will be asked to donate either a piece of their tumor or malignant effusion in order to make the first part of the vaccine or lysate. If enough of the lystate had been collected to make the first part of the vaccine, then subjects may enroll in the study as long as they meet the rest of the entry criteria. After is determined that a subject is eligible to enroll into the study, you will have to donate some blood in order to make the second part of the vaccine. After this, the blood and vaccine are mixed together to make the vaccine called DCVax-L. You will be given two dose of a drug called Avastin every other week (Avastin will be given through your vein) and a oral chemotherapy called Cytoxan. One week after your last dose of oral Cytoxan, you will receive 3 vaccines given every other week for the next month. After the first two doses of vaccine, you will also receive more Avastin. During the study you will be seeing your study team to have physical exams, blood drawn in order to monitor your health and have blood drawn for research. The study team will contact you for the next 5 years in order to determine how you are doing.
This is a Phase II, open label, non randomized correlative study of AZD2281 in patients with recurrent breast and ovarian cancer in both BRCA inherited mutation carriers and non-carriers to identify objective response rate and to assess for early markers of activity and to assess correlative markers that may provide helpful information for subsequent clinical trials. Approximately 110 patients from 7 centers in Canada will be enrolled into this study
Primary objective to determine the maximal tolerated (MTD) of dasatinib in combination with paclitaxel and carboplatin during the first cycle of treatment. Secondary objectives to describe the toxicity of this combination of therapy; to describe the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics parameters related to this combination; to describe the clinical activity as defined as the response rate (complete and partial response rate) and progression-free survival > 6 month; to compare the SRC pathway microarray signature in pre and post-treatment cancer specimens; to evaluate SRC pathway downstream substrates, FAX, paxcillin, and CRK-L in pre and post-treatment cancer specimens.
