The aim of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effect of low doses of antiplatelet medications (aspirin 81 mg/day or clopidogrel 75 mg/day) with or without a combination of antioxidants (N-acetylcysteine 600 mg/day) in a dry AMD patient with large drusen. Participants will divided in to three groups. - Participants who were already taking low dose antiplatelet medications. - Participants who take the antiplatelet drug mentioned above in addition to the antioxidant prescribed by the investigator - Participants does not use any medications.
The mechanisms and effectiveness of a technique to boost the brain's recovery mechanisms will be studied. Brain-Computer Interface (BCI),based on applying magnetic pulses (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, TMS) to the stroke damaged area in the brain, causing twitches in the paralysed muscles will be used. The size of these twitches are then displayed to the patient as neurofeedback (NF) on a computer screen in the form of a game. In the game, the aim for the patient is to learn how to make the twitches bigger by engaging appropriate mental imagery to re-activate the damaged brain region.
The primary purpose of this study is to assess the effect of verekitug (UPB-101) on the endoscopically determined size and extend of nasal polyps in participants with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) and to assess the safety and tolerability of verekitug (UPB-101) compared to placebo.
The purpose of the research protocol is to evaluate the effectiveness of Cinnamomum verum extract for the initiation of labor. Cinnamaldehyde ((E)-3-Phenylprop-2-enal) is an α, β unsaturated aromatic aldehyde, derived from cinnamon (Cinnamomum Verum oil) used as a flavoring; It is a clear yellowish liquid substance, with a strong odor and flavor. It is the main component of cinnamon (63%), giving it its physicochemical properties. Cinnamon has been an element of empirical use for the beginning of labor, however, its effectiveness has not been demonstrated. Cinnamon has been reported for its ethnopharmacological properties in pregnancy, being used to facilitate childbirth, as a lactagogue and for postpartum recovery. In Honduras, its use has been reported to relieve nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, to reduce abdominal pain. , reduction of lower limb edema, to relieve anxiety during labor, as well as a lactagogue without convergent opinions.
BronchConnect is a prospective trial to investigate the impact of support groups on health care related quality of life in those with noncystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (NCFBE). It has been well demonstrated that participation in patient support groups improves quality of life in those who suffer from interstitial lung disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, but the impact is largely unknown for those who live with NCFBE, a chronic lung disease with rising prevalence with no targeted FDA-approved therapy. NCFBE causes chronic cough, dyspnea, recurrent infections, and leads to anxiety and uncertainty. This study seeks to evaluate the impact of a virtual patient support group for patients with NCFBE through questionnaires to assess change of quality of life and anxiety, and exacerbation rates through clinical assessment.
To evaluate and compare the 2-year clinical performance of Class V restorations using various restorative systems with ion-releasing and non-ion-releasing composites, utilizing fluoride-free and fluoride-releasing universal adhesives for bonding
This is a multicenter, open Phase Ib clinical study to evaluate the safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics of BEBT-908 combined with Rituximab (R) or combined with Rituximab-Gemcitabine-Oxaliplatin (R-GemOx) or combined with Rituximab-Ifosfamide-Carboplatin-Etoposide (R-ICE) in the treatment of Relapsed/Refractory Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (R/R DLBCL).
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is an alteration of brain function caused by an external force. Long-term mortality in TBI is substantial, TBI survivors can develop chronic progressive disabilities and have a life expectancy shortened by 6 years. Treatment consists in supportive therapy directed at prevention of second insults, but no neuroprotective therapy is available. Given the multifaceted nature of TBI, mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are an ideal candidate: they release multiple soluble factors shown to ameliorate the injury microenvironment through immunomodulatory, protective, reparative and regenerative processes. Preclinical data across a range of different TBI models and injury severities show that human MSCs improve outcome through pleiotropic mechanisms of protection and repair. Thus, data indicate MSCs as strong therapeutic candidate and support a clinical study in TBI. Aim: the study is designed to assess the safety and the efficacy of the MSCs, intravenously administered in severe TBI patients within 48h from injury. The study will be conducted in a stepwise manner. Step 1 will enroll 36 patients (randomized 1:1:1 in arms 80 x 10^6 MSCs vs 160 x 10^6 MSCs vs placebo) to define safety, and will allow to select the most promising dose. Step 2 will enroll 30 patients (1:1 in arms MSCs selected dose vs placebo) to define the MSC activity based on the quantification of the plasmatic levels of the neurofilament light (NFL) at 14 days, as biomarker of neuronal damage. Secondary objectives are aimed to assess: 1. brain injury evolution and white matter damage by longitudinal neuroimaging (at 4 days and 14 days post-TBI and at 6 months) 2. brain immunomodulatory changes by temporal profiling of circulating biomarkers of brain damage and neuroinflammation (daily for 3 days after TBI, at day 7 and 14, and at 1, 6 and 12 months) 3. clinical outcome by a structured clinical and neuropsychological assessment at both 6 and 12 months Methods: a multicenter, double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, adaptive phase II dose finding study. Duration of the study: 36 months (24 of enrolment and 12 of follow up). Funding: Fondazione Regionale per la ricerca Biomedica, FRRB (Call "Unmet medical needs", proposal number 3440227) and Italian Ministry of health (Ministero della Salute, Bando di Ricerca Finalizzata 2021; proposal number RF-2021-12372642).
The study is a prospective, longitudinal, non-interventional, multicenter study of participants with HNSCC who will have tissue and blood based molecular biomarker profiling during their standard of care treatment.
