Stromal Vascular Fraction for Treatment of Xerostomia

Prospective, single center, double armed, randomized treatment with observation only (standard of care) control group. Subjects receiving study treatment will have 6 months of study follow-up. Stromal vascular fraction (SVF), an adipose-derived tissue preparation, will be injected into salivary glands to determine safety and efficacy to restore saliva production in head and neck cancer patients with chronic xerostomia resulting from radiation therapy.

The aim of the proposed project is therefore to utilize the CEUS technique to assess cerebral perfusion changes before and after ventricular shunting in neonatal cases of PHH. The expectation of the proposed project is to validate statistically significant cerebral perfusion differences before and after shunting in neonates with PHH, as a preliminary feasibility study prior to conducting a large scale, prospective clinical trial incorporating therapeutic interventions using the CEUS technique.

This is a multicenter, randomized (2:1; oral treprostinil:placebo), double-blind, placebo-controlled event-driven (time to pulmonary hypertension [PH] clinical worsening) study in subjects with PH associated with sickle cell disease (SCD). Once enrolled, subjects will be evaluated at Weeks 6, 12, 24, and then every 12 weeks for the duration of the study. Subjects will be permitted to enter a 48-week open-label extension period if they experience a PH clinical worsening event.

Given the prevalence of localized psoriasis and dissatisfaction with treatment, investigation of localized treatment should be a priority for researchers with goals to improve the current standard of care.

PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the Composite Clinical Success of the study group receiving the Superion® IDS is not inferior to the success rate observed in the study group treated by direct decompression at 60 months follow-up. Secondarily, the trial is intended to establish that Composite Clinical Success of the study group receiving the Superion® IDS at 24 months is not inferior to the success rate observed at 24 months in patients treated with the Superion® IDS in the original IDE trial. Thirdly, the trial is intended to establish that Composite Clinical Success of the population receiving the Superion® IDS in this trial at 24 months is not inferior to the success rate observed at 24 months in patients treated with direct decompression.

Vancomycin Treatment in Recurrent PSC in Liver Transplant Patients

The purpose of the study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of oral vancomycin in patients with recurrent Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) after liver transplantation. The primary endpoint is looking at the effect of the drug on liver function tests, an important surrogate of PSC disease activity at 12 weeks on treatment. Secondary endpoints include a decrease in liver function tests at 1 year, changes in bilirubin and adverse events. Effective treatment at the onset of PSC recurrence may lead to decreases in disease progression, recurrent liver failure, and repeat liver transplantation.

With increasing awareness of the importance of DHA, many people realize that they need to make a change in their diet by adding DHA-rich foods or supplements. The aim of this study is to learn the effect of different supplementations from the omega 3 group on the maternal and fetal fatty acid profile during pregnancy and to study their epigenetic influence.
