Correlation of Preoperative Global Olfactory Function With Frailty, Perioperative Neurocognitive Disorders and Mortality

The aims of this research project are to evaluate whether global olfactory impairment is a reliable indicator of preoperative frailty and cognitive impairment, and whether it may predict postoperative neurocognitive disorders, morbidity and mortality in a population of older patients scheduled for elective intermediate- to high-risk elective surgery. 1. We will measure preoperative global olfactory function (threshold, discrimination, identification) and evaluate whether olfactory impairment predicts preoperative frailty (using the Edmonton Frail Scale, the Clinical Frailty Scale and handgrip strength) and postoperative complications and mortality. 2. We will address the question whether preoperative olfactory impairment may be associated with a preoperative cognitive impairment (through a neuropsychological test battery) and whether it may predict a decrease in postoperative neurocognitive function.

Application of PCSK9 Inhibitors in Patients With Heterozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia

This study plans to enroll several patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, randomly assigned to different dose groups, and randomly receiving subcutaneous injection of IBI306150 mg or placebo every two weeks: or subcutaneous injection of IBI306 450mg every four weeks (n=49) or placebo (n=25) treatment, treatment lasted for 12 weeks. During randomization, the LDL-C level (<4.8mmol/L or ≥4.8mmol/L) observed during the screening period visit (VI), and whether ezetimibe was used for stratification. After 12 weeks, each group entered the 12-week open-period treatment, in which subjects in the IBI306 group continued to receive IBI306 treatment, and subjects in the placebo group stopped using placebo and received IBI306 treatment. The exploratory endpoint is the population pharmacokinetic characteristics of IBI306 in Chinese heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia population.

Erdafitinib for the Treatment of Patients With Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer

This phase II trial studies the effect of erdafitinib in treating patients with prostate cancer that grows and continues to spread despite the surgical removal of the testes or drugs to block androgen production (castration-resistant). Erdafitinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving erdafitinib may help control disease in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer. In addition, studying samples of blood, tissue, plasma, and bone marrow from patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and identify biomarkers related to cancer.

Fluciclovine and PSMA PET/CT for the Classification and Improved Staging of Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer

This phase I trial studies how well fluciclovine positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) and PSMA PET/CT work in helping doctors understand and classify invasive lobular breast cancer in patients with invasive lobular breast cancer that is suspicious for or has spread to other places in the body (metastasized). Fluciclovine and PSMA are radiotracers used in PET/CT imaging scans that emit radiation. The PET/CT scan than picks up the radiation being released to create a picture from within the body. Information learned from this study may help researchers learn how to better identify metastatic disease in invasive lobular breast cancer patients which will impact appropriate staging.

An open label multi center study to assess the safety and efficacy of BST-236 as single agent in adult patients unfit for standard therapy with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) or higher-risk (HR) Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) who fail to respond or relapsed following first line therapy. Approximately 20 adult patients with relapsed and/or refractory AML and approximately 20 adult patients with relapsed and/or refractory HR MDS, will be enrolled into the study. Patients will be treated with 1-2 induction courses and 2-4 maintenance courses. All patients will be followed for 1 year in the study and additional 1 year post study follow-up.
