The primary progressive aphasia (PPA) is a neurodegenerative condition characterized by a gradual, irreversible decline of language function (Mesulam, 2001). There are no known treatments for PPA so far. The relentless progression of PPA symptoms eventually leads to a profound impairment in communication ability and, ultimately, to more generalized deficits of cognition. Some cases and small studies reported that Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), one of the non-invasive neuromodulation tech, can be employed to facilitate language production and improve the language ability in patients with PPA. Herein we will explore the tolerance and efficacy of TMS for the treatment of PPA by the randomized controlled trial .Meanwhile the functional MRI tech will be used to investigate the neural network changing in the procedure
Vaccine-preventable diseases such as hepatitis A and meningitis, as well as cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) disproportionately impact young Black men who have sex with men (YBMSM). Traditional techniques of vaccination promotion have been unable to address the racial disparities in vaccination rates. One promising method for influencing behavior change within YBMSM networks is diffusion of information through Popular Opinion Leaders (POLs). The POL model engages persons who are leaders within their own networks/communities to promote behavior change. The objective of this project is to develop and pilot test a POL intervention to increase routine HAV, HPV and meningococcal conjugate vaccination among YBMSM, ages 18-26. research (PAR) framework to facilitate community support and ensure intervention strategies are salient. PAR includes community members as equal collaborators in the research process. Outcomes from these aims are expected to have an impact on health outcomes by identifying effective strategies for increasing vaccination and routine healthcare engagement among YBMSM.
This research project aims to evaluate use in a clinical context of a novel imaging instrument, the Metabolic Hyperspectral retina Camera (MHRC) from Optina Diagnostics. This camera enables the acquisition of retinal images at multiple colors (up to 100 specific colors) and therefore extract way more information that can be captured with a conventional retinal camera (up to 3 colors). This additional color information available for each pixel of the image could be useful to identify signs of pathologies having manifestations in the retina. The performances of this new prototype camera will be evaluated and the acquisition procedures optimized in a diverse population of subjects.
This randomized phase II trial studies how well multi-antigen cytomegalovirus (CMV)-modified vaccinia Ankara vaccine works in reducing CMV related complications in patients with blood cancer who are undergoing donor stem cell transplant. Vaccines made from a gene-modified virus may help the body build an effective immune response to kill cancer cells.
This phase II trial studies how well epacadostat and pembrolizumab work in treating participants with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other places in the body. Epacadostat may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as pembrolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving epacadostat and pembrolizumab may work better in treating participants with pancreatic cancer.
The primary objective of this study is disease free survival rate at 5 years in stage IA2 (T1aN0M0 or T1bN0M0 only) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated either by surgery or stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).
This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of talimogene laherparepvec and to see how well it works in treating patients with non-muscle invasive bladder transitional cell carcinoma. Biological therapies, such as talimogene laherparepvec, use substances made from living organisms that may attack specific tumor cells and stop them from growing or kill them.
The weaning of mechanical ventilation is difficult period. This period is particularly difficult for patient with obstructive chronic respiratory disease and a long mechanical ventilation is associated with an increased risk of infectious complication, cardiac dysfunction, muscular weakness or barotromatism. No guideline is available on the ventilator mode to use during the night. In weaning period, some studies have demonstrated that nocturnal control ventilation during the weaning period improved the quality and the quantity of sleep. The hypothesis is that use of nocturnal controlled mechanical ventilation could decrease the weaning period duration and the ventilation weaning failure because of a sleep improvement. The main objective is to compare mechanical ventilation weaning period duration according to the nocturnal ventilator mode (pressure controlled ventilation versus pressure support ventilation) in patients with an obstructive respiratory disease. A secondary objective is to evaluate the rate of weaning failure after the first extubation according to the nocturnal ventilator mode and to evaluate the sleep during the weaning period according to the nocturnal ventilator mode.
To assess the safety and efficacy of two forms of Talazoparib therapy (injections subcutaneously Talazoparib and oral form for the treatment in the equivalent therapeutics dose
