Filter by:FDA currently allows patients 12 years of age and older with various gastrointestinal (GI) conditions to be treated with Domperidone through the Expanded Access to Investigational Drugs program. These conditions include gastroesophageal reflux disease with upper GI symptoms, gastroparesis, and chronic constipation. Patients must have failed standard therapies to be eligible to receive Domperidone. This program facilitates availability of investigational drugs, (such as Domperidone) to patients with serious diseases or conditions when there is no comparable or satisfactory alternative therapy to diagnose, monitor, or treat the patient's disease or condition.
Gastroparesis is a digestive disorder in which motility of the stomach is either slowed or absent. The gastroparesis prevents normal digestion from occurring. The purpose of this study is to provide oral Domperidone offered under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded access program, to patients that, based on the treating doctor's assessment, could benefit from , a prokinetic effect for the relief of refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease with upper gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, gastroparesis, and chronic constipation.
The main objective of this EAP is to ensure that participants participating in Study E2007-G000-332, Study E2007-G000-311, E2007-G000-238, E2007-G000-338 or EAP E2007-G000-401 continue to have access to perampanel until such time that the appropriate formulation of perampanel becomes commercially available in the country in which they reside or until no participants remain in the EAP.
Preoperative evaluation of future remnant liver function is critical for patients undergoing hepatic surgery. Overestimation of the remnant liver function can lead to life-threatening postoperative hepatic failure, and its underestimation can lead to a lost opportunity for potentially curative surgery. Conventionally, post-hepatectomy remnant liver function has been estimated preoperatively using computed tomography (CT) volumetry. CT can provide precise anatomical information, and the remnant liver volume, measured by CT volumetry, has been reported to be an effective predictor of hepatic dysfunction after hepatectomy. However, the indirect estimation of liver function by CT volumetry is reliable only when the function is assumed to be homogenous over the whole liver.
Fanconi anemia is a rare autosomal or sex linked recessive genetic disease. The disease is characterized by bone marrow hematopoiesis failure, multiple congenital abnormalities, and susceptibility to neoplastic diseases. The cells of FA patients are extremely sensitive to MMC and DEB. The symptoms and ages of FA patients are different, so by comparing the exome of FA patients and their parents, the mutations that were accumulated in FA patients could be found, and these genes might be sensitive to repairment and be important for hematopoiesis maintainance.
Background Several studies have shown the effect of osteopathic manipulative treatment on neonatal care in reducing length of stay, gastrointestinal problems, clubfoot complications and improving cranial asymmetry of infants affected by plagiocephaly. Despite several results obtained, there is still lack of standardized osteopathic evaluation and treatment procedures for newborns recovered in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The aim of this research is to provide a guideline on osteopathic approach in treating hospitalized newborns. Specific evaluation tests and treatments have been developed to tailor osteopathic method according to preterm and term infants' needs, NICU environment, medical and paramedical assistance.
The objective of this study is to make T-cell depleted stem cells from a family member who is a half match (haplo-identical) available on an expanded access basis to patients receiving one or two unrelated cord blood transplants who are at a higher risk of not engrafting in a safe amount of time. The purpose of the related stem cells is the give the bone marrow a "jump start" towards recovery. Ultimately, the cord blood cells will grow and permanently rescue the bone marrow.
Patients with unresectable pancreatic cancer in most of cases cannot benefit from percutaneous ablation modalities, due to high risk of procedure-related complications. Ultrasound-guided high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation has been introduced as a feasible treatment option in these patients. However, in other anatomical regions US-guided HIFU has been replaced by the more accurate MR-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) ablation, but the applicability of this latter technique to the treatment of pancreatic cancer is still unexplored. The aim of this study is to explore feasibility and clinical performance of MRgFUS ablation of unresectable pancreatic cancer. Two are the main end-points: Pain palliation and local tumor control. As compared to conventional US-guided HIFU, MRgFUS could represent a more accurate, non-invasive ablation modality even for unresectable pancreatic cancer although, to date, no cases of pancreatic MRgFUS ablation have been reported.
The 10%-15% of breast carcinomas known to be 'triple negative (TN)' (not expressing HRs and not exhibiting overexpression Her2) constitutes 85% of all basal-like tumors, because it is based on three standard immunohistochemical biomarkers. In clinical routine, Docetaxel was widely indicated as first-line therapy for breast cancer patients in adjuvant or neoadjuvant settings. Oxaliplatin, trans-1-diaminocyclohexane-platinum, may offer advantages over other platinum agents. Oxaliplatin promotes formation of DNA adducts, preventing DNA replication and transcription and ultimately causing apoptosis. Oxaliplatin was more potent than cisplatin and the Oxaliplatin-based regimen was active for the patients of lung cancer, colorectal cancer and ect. TNBC patients were more sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy regimens according to the results of some retrospective studies. There was no report about Oxaliplatin in the chemotherapy setting for breast cancer patients. The investigators hypothesized that using Oxaliplatin adding to docetaxel would be feasible and active in patients with TNLABC because in vitro findings suggest synergism between the agents. Metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) is a substance that is taken up by neuroblastoma cells. MIBG is combined with radioactive iodine (131 I) in the laboratory to form a radioactive compound 131 I-MIBG. This radioactive compound delivers radiation specifically to the cancer cells and causes them to die. The purpose of this research protocol provides a mechanism to deliver MIBG therapy when clinically indicated, but also to provide a mechanism to continue to collect efficacy and toxicity data that will be provided. A recent New Approaches to Neuroblastoma Therapy (NANT) phase 2 randomized trial of 131I-MIBG with or without radiation sensitizers for relapsed refractory or persistent neuroblastoma enrolled 114 patients ages 1-30 years showed that Arm A (MIBG alone) had a response rate of 17%, Arm B (MIBG with Vincristine and Irnotecan) had a response rate of 14% and Arm C (MIBG with vorinostat) had a response rate of 32% after the first cycle. After the second cycle, Arm A had a response rate of 33%, Arm B had 30% response rate and Arm C had a 75% response rate. There was an excess of toxicities in Arm B, and no significant SAEs in Arm C. These data were reported at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in June of 2020. Vorinostat has been used extensively in adults and has been granted US FDA approval for the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. The approved adult dose is 400 mg orally once daily. Vorinostat is not FDA approved for use in neuroblastoma.
