Filter by:The training consists of 6 weeks of functional electrical stimulation leg cycling exercise (FES-LCE) program. The training program comprises of 2 visits per week. Each visit consists of FES-LCE for 45 minutes. Throughout the 6 weeks program, there will be testing/assessment sessions on week 1, week 3 and week 6. The FES will be applied via surface electrodes and the stimulation intensity based on the participant's tolerance level.
This study, we are aim to make the Turkish version validity and reliability of the Cranifacial Pain and Disability Inventory, Jaw Functional Limitation Scale-20, and Jaw Functional Limitation Scale-8.
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a significant complication following non-cardiac surgery. The investigators sought to evaluate incidence of perioperative AMI, its preoperative and intraoperative risk factors and the outcomes after this complication.
Heart failure (HF) affects 2-3% of the population, and is characterized by impaired sodium balance which results in fluid overload. Ejection fraction, a measure of systolic function, is reduced in only about half of all HF patients. Incidence of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) has increased in the last 20 years making it a growing public health problem. Currently, most patients admitted to the hospital with heart failure have preserved rather than reduced ejection fractions. However, to date it remains unknown why patients with HFpEF retain salt and water. The hypothesis is that patients with clinical HFpEF have an impaired renal response to salt loading, intravascular expansion and diuretics. Characterization of the salt and water excretory renal response to intravascular salt, fluid and diuretic load in patients with HFpEF will provide insight into the pathophysiology of HFpEF, and may help in the development of novel strategies to target renal sodium handling in patients with HFpEF. This characterization is the primary objective of this pilot project.
This study will be conducted upon the patients with fatty liver disease. Patients who will be diagnosed as a case of fatty liver disease by ultrasound with raised liver enzyme (ALT) will be primarily selected for the study. A total number of 70 patients will be randomly selected for the study that will also be divided into two groups for the study purpose. The patients will be informed about the details of the study. After getting the detail information those who will give informed written consent will be finally included in the study. One group of patients will be treated by both life style modification and Obeticholic acid. Another group of patients by only life style modification. After 3 months of treatment the two groups will be compared of improvement of fatty liver disease and liver enzyme by improvement of fibroscan with CAP value as well as improvement of ALT value.
In twin pregnancies, the maternal iron demands are magnified, estimated at 1.8 times more than in singleton pregnancies due to greater maternal red blood cell mass and plasma volume expansion as well as increased fetal and placental requirements. With a lack of randomized controlled trials assessing the adequacy of iron supplements on twin pregnancy, various recommendations are based on level 3 clinical expert opinions at most.
The investigators would like to include patients consulting in a Accident and Emergency Department (AED) during the permanence of care the week of March 11 to 17, 2018. The data collection would concern socio-demographic data, their consultation to the AED, the follow-up given to the consultation and would take place by telephone contact of patients within 48 hours of the consultation. why patients come to the emergency room, what are they waiting for? what are their main motivations? what do they do in emergencies, do they follow the treatments and recommendations?
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is mainly considered a nutrition-related disease and life-style/diet interventions showed some promising results. But in spite of this, there are no available markers to efficiently guide interventions. the hypothesize put farth by the investigators is that NAFLD patients develop postprandial abnormalities of plasma lipids upon "western diet" challenge, more severe in steatohepatitis (NASH) than in pure steatosis (NAFL), promoting liver injury. Our study aims to evaluate the presence of toxic lipids (such as free-fatty acids, ceramides, diacylglycerols, sphingolipids) in postprandial state after ingestion of a "western diet" in NAFLD patients. Consecutive patients (group 1: NAFL patients; group 2: NASH patients) with biopsy-proven NAFLD (liver biopsy < 6 months) will be recruited during a period of 12 month. Blood samples will be drawn at fasting, 2hours, 4hours, 6hours and 8hours after ingestion of a "western diet" meal. Plasma lipid profiles using lipidomics, circulating markers of liver injury and inflammation will be analyzed. the investigators will also assess the hepatotoxicity of plasma from NAFL or NASH patients in-vitro.
First-in-Human Study of the Safety of AR-13503 Sustained Release Intravitreal Implant in Subjects with Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration (nAMD) and Subjects with Diabetic Macular Edema (DME)
This study evaluates the feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy of an online education course about circadian rhythms and health. Half of participants will be enrolled into the online course and the other half will receive materials on sleep hygiene as a control.
