Filter by:The goal of this study is to evaluate the role of probiotics in the treatment of pediatric NAFLD by evaluating for steatosis and fibrosis with a Fibroscan machine. This will be done by performing a fibroscan during each visit and comparing patients' ALT at various intervals. This is an important study as current pediatric guidelines only recommend lifestyle modifications for the treatment of NAFLD and the use of ALT and sonogram to assess improvement as standard of care. Investigators hypothesized that treatment with a probiotic will demonstrate an improvement in NAFLD as assessed by a fibroscan of liver which is good for the monitoring of steatosis and fibrosis. Additionally, analysis of fecal microbiome results may offer insight into targeted therapy in the future.
The study will compare the short-term clinical performance and wearer and practitioner acceptability of a new-to-market spherical daily disposable (DD) hydrogel soft contact lens to a currently marketed spherical DD hydrogel soft contact lens.
For many patients with spasticity, traditional therapies have not achieved maximal outcomes. Due to common complaints such as pain, limb positioning and hygiene concerns, there has been an increase demand for other adjunctive therapies like surgeries and other interventions. This spasticity multidisciplinary clinic consisting of a physiatrist, plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist is performing a novel approach to refractory spasticity to triage and designed a treatment plan for them as routine medical care. This study will document the efficacy of this novel designed multidisciplinary approaches for intervention in complex spasticity patients, and will develop a decision-making algorithm in spasticity including both traditional treatment (i.e. botulinum toxin , bracing) and novel treatments(i.e. neurectomy , cryoneurotomy).
This is an open-label study, to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SHR1459 in participants with NMOSDs.
The first period of COVID 19 Lockdown Measures (From 18 March to 11 may 2020) change the French people way of life and their medicine knowledges. A study which evaluates the Nancy's Pediatric emergencies population utilization during this time could detect pathological changes. The medical impact of Home Confinement will show an increase (trauma, maltreatment) or decrease (virus disease) of several pathology. The study aims to help clinicians to the children care if another time of Home Confinement happened. The main objective is to evaluate the behavioural changes and the reason consultation in Nancy's Pediatric Emergencies from 18 March to 30 June 2020 comparate to the same time in 2019. We will continue the search after the end of Home Confinement until 30 June 2020 to evaluate what happened just after.
Although tracheostomy is a common technique in Intensive Care Units (ICU), its complications can be frequent (between 5% to 40%). Inadequate fixation could favor decannulation, as well as incorrect alignment of the tracheostomy with respect to the tracheal axis could favor the appearance of tissue alterations such as ulcers, bleeding or fistulas, as well as obstruction of the ventilatory obstruction. Having a device that is effective in fixation and alignment could help in reducing tracheostomy complications, so this study aims to evaluate the effect and safety of a fixation device for tracheostomy through a randomized clinical trial.
The return to work in the military population after surgical reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) has been poorly investigated within the French armed forces. Only American studies are available and show that this surgery has a significant impact on the operational capacity of soldiers. ACL rupture is extremely frequent in active populations. This pathology has already been extensively explored in at-risk populations, particularly in sports. Most studies show that the resumption of sport is greatly affected by this pathology. Furthermore, an over-risk (10 times greater incidence of ACL rupture) in the military has been demonstrated.
This pilot project aims to reduce the prescribing of high-risk medications, such as antipsychotics and benzodiazepines, to hospitalized older adults. To accomplish this, this project consists of two phases. The purpose is to determine whether a novel simulation-based training program reduces prescribing of suboptimal medications for older adults. A 2-arm pilot randomized controlled trial will be conducted to test a simulation-based, principle-driven intervention targeting high-risk prescribing practices versus control.
This research is being done to study the ability of C. difficile to colonize the colonic mucosa of individuals with no prior history of C. difficile infection.
This study included 76 newly diagnosed RA patients and 50 matched controls. Basal JAK2 mutation was assessed by PCR in blood samples, TNF-α and IL 6 were measured by ELISA in serum of patients and controls. All patients started therapy with conventional synthetic DMARDs (including methotrexate). Response assessment at 3rd month was evaluated by DAS28 and ACR response criteria. JAK2 mutation was correlated with different clinical and laboratory parameters of patients.
