Filter by:This study collects information about perception of cure among patients with cancer that has spread to other places in the body (metastatic). This study aims to determine patients' perception (knowledge) before starting immunotherapy and if differences exist in understanding of treatment to stimulate or restore the ability of the body's immune (defense) system to fight infection and disease (immunotherapy) based on social and economic factors or on race/ethnicity.
Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) are common and continue to be persistent problems following general anesthesia. Intranasal lidocaine has been used for the treatment of migraine. The theoretical basis for this effect of intranasal lidocaine on migraine relief is reported to be due to its action on the sodium receptors within the sphenopalatine ganglion. Although there is no reported association between PONV and migraines, injecting lidocaine within the sphenopalatine ganglion has proven to be effective in reducing PONV in endoscopic sinus surgery. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of intranasal 2% lidocaine in preventing PONV.
This study will demonstrate Short-, mid-, and long-term safety in pediatric patients with Parenteral Nutrition-Associated Cholestasis treated with Omegaven®, which is indicated as a source of calories and fatty acids in this patient population
This early phase I trial evaluates the effect of thermal therapy on depression with or without sleep disturbance in cancer survivors. Thermal therapy may help improve quality of life, physical capacity, fatigue, and enhance positive mood and sleep quality. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential of thermal therapy to improve patient's quality of life by reducing symptoms of depression, sleep disruption, fatigue and anxiety in cancer survivors.
The main objective of this trial is to evaluate the activity of pamiparib plus low dose TMZ as maintenance treatment in improving progression free survival (PFS) in patients with advanced BTC who have received first line platinum-based chemotherapy. The primary objective is to test with a one-sided type I error of 10% whether pamiparib plus low dose TMZ as maintenance treatment increases PFS according to RECIST (version 1.1) in the entire study population as compared to standard treatment with Cisplatin-Gemcitabine chemotherapy regimen (or Gemcitabine-Oxaliplatin if cisplatin is contra-indicated). This is an open label randomized controlled multi-center phase II trial. Patients must meet all the criteria to be eligible. Eligible patients will be centrally randomized between the two arms in a 1:1 ratio. Randomization will be stratified by the following factors: - Tumour response CR/PR vs SD vs non-measurable/non-PD after previous platinum-based chemotherapy as confirmed by central review - Tumour location (intrahepatic bile ducts vs. gallbladder vs. perihilar bile ducts and distal bile duct and /ampulla of Vater tumours). Patients will receive treatment until progression or for a maximum period of 2 years.
This phase II clinical trial studies how well giving brentuximab vedotin together with pembrolizumab in treating patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) that has come back (recurrent). Monoclonal antibody-drug conjugates, such as brentuximab vedotin, can block cancer growth in different ways by targeting certain cells. Pembrolizumab is an antibody-drug that stimulates body's natural antitumor immune responses. Giving brentuximab vedotin together with pembrolizumab may work better than brentuximab vedotin alone in treating patients with recurrent peripheral T-cell lymphoma.
Patient-specific, 3D printed models have been utilized in preoperative planning for many years. Among researchers and clinicians, there is a perception that preoperative exposure to 3D printed models, derived from patient images (CT or MRI), aid in procedural planning. 3D printed models for heart surgery have the potential to improve a clinician's preparedness and therefore may reduce surgically-related morbidity and mortality. This randomized clinical trial aims to evaluate whether pre-procedural planning of surgeons exposed to a patient-specific 3D printed heart model will decrease cardiopulmonary bypass time, morbidity, and mortality.
This is an observation study comparing prospective use of Imipenem/Cilastatin/Relebactam (IMI/REL) to retrospective data using Meropenem/Vabobactam (MVB)and Ceftazidime/Avibactam CZA) in treatment of Klebsiella Producing Carbapenemase Enterobacteriaceae infections at a tertiary care hospital. The objectives of the study are to demonstrate successful treatment of KPC containing Enterobacteriaceae infections with IMI/REL including in bacteremia, and to analyze treatment outcomes in use of IMI/REL for KPC-producing infections compared to historical clinical outcome data with CZA and MVB use at the same institution.
This research study is examining whether Neratinib has any activity in participants with prostate cancer that has spread and is no longer responding to hormonal treatment. - The names of the study drug involved in this study is neratinib.
The purpose of this study is to determine if stents placed with only one loop in the kidney move more than stents placed with a loop in both the kidney and a bladder. Participants in this study will undergo placement of a stent into the ureter that drains urine from the kidney into the bladder. The stent will be placed in 1 of 2 ways: either with only a loop of the stent is left in the kidney or in the regular manner where a loop of the stent is left in both the kidney and in the bladder. The position of the stent will be measured at the time of placement. When the stent is removed, the position of the stent will be measured prior to pulling the stent.
