Filter by:The primary goal of this study is to test the hypothesis that oral nabilone treatment will reduce agitation compared with placebo in patients with Frontotemporal Dementia (both behavioural variant frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia). The study population is defined as patients with probable Frontotemporal Dementia that meet the International Psychogeriatric Association criteria for agitation in cognitive disorders.
Anti-Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) are antibodies associated to inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system. The GFAP protein is highly expressed by astrocytes explaining these syndromes, but GFAP is also expressed by immature and non-myelinating Schwann cells. Thus, these antibodies could also lead to damages of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). Moreover, such damages have already been reported on small studies, and there is a need for larger cohorts. The investigators will use the cohort of patients with neurological syndromes and anti-GFAP antibodies identified in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of the "Reference center for paraneoplastic neurological syndromes and autoimmune encephalitis" to determine the frequency of the PNS involvement in these patients.
This study is designed to provide continued access to BCX9930 for subjects currently receiving treatment with BCX9930 in a BioCryst-sponsored clinical study for paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) who, in the opinion of the investigator, would benefit from continued treatment with BCX9930 and who do not have access to other treatment options.
The main objective of this study is to assess pharmacokinetics, safety, and tolerability of ABBV-932 in healthy adult participants.
This study aims to prospectively collect the clinical and radiogical features to investigate the associations between the potential risk factors and secondary complications, adverse long-term functional outcomes, and death in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH).
The aim of this study is to determine whether the fasting duration required for patients after consuming oral jelly is comparable to that after consuming water, prior to elective surgery. International guidelines for perioperative fasting recommend abstaining from clear fluids for 2 hours to minimize the risk of regurgitation and aspiration pneumonia. However, there are no specific recommendations regarding the perioperative management of jelly consumption. Current understanding emphasizes the benefits of minimizing preoperative fasting time, including preventing dehydration and metabolic complications like ketoacidosis, as well as potentially enhancing patient satisfaction. Oral jelly consumption may offer advantages by improving preoperative hydration and providing some nutritional support prior to procedures. This crossover study will involve 25 adult volunteers. In the first phase, participants will be randomly assigned to either oral intake of water or jelly, followed by the opposite intervention in the second phase. Gastric content and volume will be assessed using gastric ultrasound.
This is an open-label, Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating therapy with an oncolytic immunotherapy (RP2 or RP3) in combination with atezolizumab and bevacizumab in patients with advanced Microsatellite Stable and Mismatch Repair Proficient Colorectal Carcinoma.
Bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract can originate from the small bowel. Typically, upper and lower endoscopies are unable to identify the site of bleeding and patients need to undergo special endoscopies with longer cameras to examine the small bowel and find the bleeding site. One of the most commonly used scopes to investigate the first part of the small intestinal is called "push enteroscopy". This is an upper endoscopy that uses a pediatric colonoscope, which is longer. To date, it is unknown what percentage of small bowel can be observed with this technique. Hence, this study aimed to determine the extent of small bowel examined by push enteroscopy. Consecutive patients with suspected bleeding from the small intestine will undergo a push enteroscopy and the depth of the examination will be marked with metallic clips. Subsequently, patients will have a capsule endoscopy, which is a little camera that will take multiple pictures of the whole small intestine. The percentage of small bowel that the push enteroscopy examined will be determined by the percentage of small bowel corresponding to the location of the clips visualized on capsule endoscopy.
Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) and paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) are rare neuroimmune syndromes with a wide range of clinical presentation but without pathognomonic clinical sign facilitating the diagnosis. A lot of differential diagnoses are possible such as neurodegenerative diseases or viral infections. Although rare the diagnosis of AE or PNS is essential because despite severe neurological symptoms, patients can be cured by appropriate immunotherapy. Autoantibodies highly specific of AE and PNS has been described in the serum and cerebrospinal fluid of the patients and can be used as biomarkers of the disease. Their presence can predict an autoimmune origin and in many cases a good prognosis after immunotherapy. However, if some autoantibodies are now well-characterized and industrial kits have been developed to detect them, in numerous cases of highly suspect AE or PNS no specific autoantibodies are identified leading frequently to an inappropriate treatment. Furthermore, as the mechanisms of AE and PNS is still unknown, treatments are not optimal and in some cases inefficient. There is no prognosis biomarker able to predict the patient's sensitivity to immunotherapy and there are only few clues to know how the immune system can provoke the neuropsychiatric symptoms observed in the patients. The investigators will use this project to better characterize AE and PNS patients to identify new diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and develop new diagnostic tools.
This is a phase II, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of velusetrag once a day, compared to placebo, in subjects with CIPO.
