Filter by:Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis are bowel disease (IBS) with an autoimmune component believed to affect approximately 1 in 140 Canadians. Despite this high prevalence, more than 30% patients with IBD have to live with recurrent gastrointestinal symptoms that is poorly relieved by allopathic medicine. Numerous studies have shown that the quality of life of individuals with IBS is lower than that of the general population. Since visceral manipulations have been shown to be effective in reducing the main discomforts associated with IBS during clinical interventions, it seems likely that it may provide similar relief to patients with IBD. To our best knowledge, no study has evaluated the impact of osteopathic manual therapy on neuro-immuno-vascular modulation of intestine to reduce IBS symptoms. The aim of this study is to assess the relevance of an osteopathic approach addressing the brain-intestine axis in order to improve symptomatology in subject suffering from IBD by modulating inflammation and vagal tone.
compare between Quadratus lumborum block and unilateral intrathecal block for patients undergoing inguinal hernia repair regarding the quality of anesthesia and hemodynamic stability of patients.
To evaluate the association of ultrasonographic parameters suggestive of placenta accreta with intraoperative clinical diagnosis of placenta accreta according to the the clinical grading system for placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders proposed recently by FIGO and histopathological diagnosis of placenta accreta in hysterectomy specimens
To determine the safety and efficacy of Sindilimab combined with Paclitaxel and Cisplatin in neoadjuvant chemotherapy for Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer
Novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are both associated with the prevailing upper respiratory tract infections caused by the RNA-containing SARS-CoV2 virus of the genius Betacoronavirus of the Coronaviridae family. As both the viral infiltration and infection progress, the host immune system response can be one of a rapidly developing fatal cytokine storm. In the ARDS or NCP ensuing progression, the patient often succumbs to the effects of the hyper pro-inflammatory response, hence contributing to the associated increased mortality as a result of the cytokine storm and associated pathogenesis.
This study was designed to explore the clinical efficacy of SHR-1210 in combined with Anlotinib in the treatment of second- or above- line advanced or metastatic esophageal squamous cell cancer patients, in order to find a better therapy strategy for esophageal squamous cell cancer patients.
This phase 2 trial studies the efficacy and safety of Avatrombopag for the primary prevention of thrombocytopenia induced by cytarabine-based chemotherapy in patients with lymphoma
Injection of Botox into the bladder is a procedure used to treat neurogenic overactive bladder at the Dianne and Irving Kipnes Urology Centre in the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. A common complication following bladder Botox is bladder infection. There are no well-studied preventative antibiotics given at the time of bladder Botox for the reduction of post-operative bladder infection. We are proposing a research study that will randomize participants into two groups - one receiving antibiotics and the other receiving placebo pills following bladder Botox. The main goal of our study is to determine if preventative antibiotics at the time of bladder Botox injection reduces post-operative bladder infection. It will provide a valuable learning opportunity for a trainee starting their academic career through working closely with established researchers across two disciplines. We hope the results of our study can ultimately be used to improve outcomes and safety for a common Urologic procedure. In addition, findings from our study could help reduce unnecessary use of antibiotics resulting in cost savings in the health care system and reduction in the risk of antibiotic resistance.
This project is to to explore the safety and efficacy of shr-1210 combined with albumin, paclitaxel and carboplatin in the first-line treatment of extensive small cell lung cancer
1. This strategy might suggest a therapeutic option to preserve ovarian function in young patients among which locally advanced cancer cervix is common. Based on previous studies, neoadjuvant irinotecan and cisplatin followed by radical hysterectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy has the potential to improve the prognosis compared the concurrent chemo-radiotherapy(CCRT). 2. To offer an alternative effective treatment line replacing concurrent chemo-radiotherapy to avoid dramatic radiotherapy induced complications which might impede a safe successful surgery. 2- To reduce the proportion of patients who will go for radiotherapy, consequently those patients will still have a chance of probable less complicated surgery in case of local recurrence. 3- This study will involve neo-adjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) in treating patients with stage II-III cervical cancer for reducing tumor size, minimizing blood loss during surgery and eradication of possible micro-metastasis. 4- To Improve the likelihood of achieving complete tumor resection after NACT. 5- Investigators will further follow-up those patients for more detailed assessments to confirm whether NACT can improve patients' prognoses, survival, quality of life, and the standard of care.
