NCT ID: NCT05878587 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Burger Allen Exercises in Knee OA With Type II Diabetes

Start date: March 31, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

There is a potential link between diabetes mellitus (DM) and severity of osteoarthritis .Type 2 diabetes is a part of the metabolic syndrome (Mets) accompanied by ageing and mechanical stress are also a risk factor to osteoarthritis. Every anatomical component of the joint demonstrated faster joint deterioration and elevated inflammation at microcellular environment of individuals with DM. Normal chondrocytes capacity to adapt to the local glucose level is impaired by OA and there is a significant risk of glucose toxicity and increased glucose absorption. The most dependable and effective treatment for mild to early joint osteoarthritis is exercise. Active free exercises i.e. Buerger Allen exercises are used as a conservative perfusion therapy because they rely on how gravity affects the smooth muscles in the valves. Synovial fluid supports the joint's ability to recover while also reducing inflammation and enhancing overall joint function. The aim of the study is to determine the effect of Buerger Allen exercise and low intensity high repetition exercises on pain, range of motion and disability in knee osteoarthritis with type 2 diabetes. The study would be randomized controlled trial. Total thirty-six subjects will be assigned randomly by using lottery randomization into two groups. Group A will receive conventional therapy and an additional Buerger Allen exercise while Group B will be a control group receiving only baseline treatment. Numeric pain rating scale (NPRS), Ankle Brachial Index, KOOS and Goniometer will be used as outcome measure tools for pain, range of motion and disability. Measure will be taken at baseline and at the end of treatment session. The collected data will be analyzed in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 25.0.If data will be normally distributed then parametric if not normally distributed than non-parametric

NCT ID: NCT05877703 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Open Versus Close Chain Exercise Effects With Lifestyle Modification and Education in Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: April 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A randomized clinical trial will be conducted in Gujranwala and 24 patients with grade 3 knee OA will be recruited. After consent, patients will be randomly allocated into 2 groups by lottery method. Group A will do close kinetic chain exercises, including static cycling, lifestyle modification, and patient education. Group B will do open kinetic chain exercises including quadriceps drills with lifestyle modification and patient education. A total duration of 12 weeks with 3 sessions per week will be given. Outcome measures Assessment will be done at 0 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT05875896 Completed - Wrist Arthritis Clinical Trials

Study of Wrist Fusions With the Medartis Aptus Arthrodesis Plate

STIF
Start date: June 6, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The primary working hypothesis of this study is whether wrist arthrodesis leads to an improvement in functional status in both rheumatoid arthritis and post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Functional status will be measured by Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire no earlier than 1 year after surgery.

NCT ID: NCT05872633 Completed - Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Online Self-management in Hand Osteoarthritis

Start date: August 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

NB. This study has been previously registered with the National Trial Registry (NTR6266) that has been cancelled. The registered trial has been automatically transferred to a new "Landelijk Trial Register", which does not contain all correct information on the current study and where no corrections can be made. Hence, the current study has been registered again with ClinicalTrials.gov. The goal of this clinical trial is to study the effectiveness of an online self-management intervention in adult patients with hand osteoarthritis and to explore the possibilities to implement the intervention in clinical practice after the study period. An RCT will be performed, in which 70 participants will be randomized to either care-as-usual (hand osteoarthritis care path, including consultation with the rheumatologist and a 1,5-hour consultation with a clinical nurse or occupational therapist, n=35) or care-as-usual plus the online self-management intervention (n=35). The primary effect constitutes of the difference in change in pain coping between patients in the intervention and control condition from baseline to post-intervention. As secondary outcomes, a number of other psychological and physical outcome measures will be assessed (e.g., health-related quality of life, well-being, pain impact on daily life, pain cognitions). Also, cost-effectiveness of the intervention will be measured, by assessing productivity loss and health care use of participants (using iPCQ and iMCQ).

NCT ID: NCT05872360 Completed - Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

To Investigate Effects of Amway Bundle Combination of Products on Osteoarthritis & Sarcopenia

Start date: May 27, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this interventional study is to evaluate the effects of bundle combination of Amway All-plant protein booster with Nutrilite Lifestyle guideline and/or EMS (Electric Muscle Stimulation) device on Osteoarthritis & Sarcopenia in the middle-aged and elderly (50-70 years old) people. 240 eligible participants will be randomly assigned to 4 equal size study groups (ideally 52 for each group will complete the study) in the two study centers in Shanghai, three site visits will be made during the 6 months of study after screening test. All clinical data will be measured /captured on paper CRF(Case Report Form) and then recorded into CTMS(Clinical Trial Data Management System) for analysis and reporting. It's essential that participants should practice with the assigned guideline and device besides taking the products per day. Researchers will compare the four groups to see if there is significant improvement of Amway study products with bundle combination of Nutrilite Lifestyle guideline and/or EMS on Osteoarthritis & Sarcopenia in the participants.

NCT ID: NCT05870033 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Muscle Activation in Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: April 30, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Muscle activity, as a possible fundamental cause of functional limitation, has been extensively investigated in knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Many trials investigated muscle activity during dynamic movements and functional tasks in KOA. In addition, gender-related differences has been also investigated during functional movements in KOA. However, no trial investigated gender-related differences in muscle activation during static movement in KOA.

NCT ID: NCT05869630 Completed - Depression Clinical Trials

Exercise on microRNA in Osteoarthritis

Start date: August 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The present study is a prospective cohort study. This study will be conducted to determine the change in miRNA levels with exercise in knee Osteoarthritis (OA) patients. The main questions that the study aims to answer are: Question 1: Does exercise therapy affect microrna expressions in patients with knee osteoarthritis? Question 2: Does exercise therapy affect quality of life, pain, functional status and depression level in patients with knee osteoarthritis? Participants; demographic information such as age, height, weight will be questioned. Exercises will performed twice a week under supervision and once a week as home program for eight weeks. Before and after exercise treatment, peripheral venous blood samples will taken from both groups. miRNA-146a, miRNA-155, miRNA-221-3p and miRNA-145 gene expressions will studied with the real-time PCR (polymerase chain reaction) method. miRNA-146a, miRNA-155, and miRNA-221-3p, miRNA-145 gene expressions will studied with the Real-time PCR method. The pain will evaluated with the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), functional status with Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), depression level with the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and quality of life with Short Form-36 (SF-36).
