Filter by:This randomised study evaluates the efficacy of an oral dietary supplement of Hydrolyzed Collagen in reducing pain and improving physical function in subjects with osteoarthritis.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of High intensity laser therapy( HILT) on pressure pain threshold, serum cortisol level, passive knee range of motion, and changes of functional disability in patients with active myofascial trigger points(MTrPs) pain associated wit knee osteoarthritis(OA) .
The purpose of the study is to compare magnitude of postsurgical analgesic effect in different groups following a single dose of study drug when administered via adductor canal block in subjects undergoing primary unilateral total knee arthroplasty.
Knee osteoarthritis has a very high prevalence in the population over 50 years of age. Patients with osteoarthritis often suffer from chronic pain that becomes disabling, affecting both quality of life and mental and physical health. This pathology has also been linked to maladaptive plasticity in the brain, which can contribute to chronic pain. Therapies with neuromodulatory approaches, such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and peripheral electrical stimulation (TENS), have been used therapeutically to counteract the maladaptive plasticity of the brain. Transcranial therapy and TENS can be a possible effective treatment in the rehabilitation services of the health system for the improvement of chronic pain and quality of life in different pathologies, such as chronic low back pain, fibromyalgia or knee and hip osteoarthritis.
The most common cause of hip joint dysfunction in the elderly is degenerative osteoarthritis of the hip. Innervation of the hip joint capsule is provided by the obturator nerve, the accessory obturator nerve, and the femoral nerve. With pericapsular nerve group block (PENG), by blocking the femoral nerve and the accessory obturator nerve, analgesia is successfully provided for the hip joint. Intra-articular injection of corticosteroids; It is used as an alternative to surgical interventions because it reduces inflammation and short-term pain and is a minimally invasive method. The investigators aim to compare and report patients who underwent ultrasound-guided intra-articular steroid injection and PENG block in terms of post-procedural pain scores and patient satisfaction.
1. / evaluation of the fear of falling using an FES-I questionnaire, distribution of subjects according to the score into 3 groups (16-19: little concerned by the fear of falling, 20-27 moderately concerned, 28-64 very concerned by fear of falling) 2. / evaluation of lumbar articular mobility by the schober index, coxofemoral by hip goniometry in flexion and extension (no evaluation of other amplitudes because lack of abduction / abduction / external and internal rotation of the hip remain functional in walking and the balance)
The aim of this research is to compare the effects of Graston Technique, active release technique and PNF stretching on hamstring flexibility in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis. Randomized controlled trials done at Riphah International University, Islamabad.. The sample size was 45. The subjects were divided in three groups, 15 subjects in Graston Technique group, 15 subjects in active release technique group and 15 in PNF stretching group. Study duration was of 6 months. Sampling technique applied was non probability purposive sampling technique. Male and female patients greater than 30 years of age, with unilateral or bilateral OA of grade 1 and 2 in Kellegren and Lawrence criteria for knee OA, having UL/BL hamstring tightness, Pain > 3 on NPRS, ROM > 200 from AKE test were included. Tools used in the study are NPRS, AKE test by goniometer, Lower extremity functional index (LEFI) and WOMAC.
The aim of this observer-blinded randomized controlled trial is the evaluation of the influence of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) on the outcome of patients receiving total knee replacement (TKA).
The study will be a randomized control trial and will be conducted in Pakistan Railway Hospital Rawalpindi. A sample of 60 participants will be taken. Patients will be divided into two groups (A&B) of 30 participants in each group by sealed envelope method. Hot pack will be applied to both groups for 15 minutes at the start of intervention. ERGON Technique(IASTM) will be applied to group A along with strengthening exercise. Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching will be given to group B along with strengthening exercise. A 35 minute session will be given to the patients and 3 sessions will be given once a week. Intervention will be given for 6 weeks. The outcome measure will be Visual analog Scale (VAS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC), and Active Knee Extension Test (AKE) will be measured at baseline and at the end of 6th week. Data will be analyzed by SPSS 22.
The aim of our study is to identify the influence of preoperative pain (NRS pain score and EQ5D pain score) and higher levels of anxiety and depression (EQ5D anxiety/depression score) and their interaction before primary total knee arthroplasty on revision surgery for unexplained symptoms after primary surgery.
