Effect of Functional Electrical Stimulation in Gluteus Medius in Rehabilitation After Total Hip Arthroplasty

Due to the importance of the functions of the gluteus medium, mainly during gait, it becomes essential to strengthening early in the musculature. The association of muscle strengthening with the Functional Electric Stimulation (FES) comes to accelerate stabilization of hip, leading to functional rehabilitation early and improves the quality of life through rehabilitation in social life and activities of daily life. Thus, it becomes a relevant study to assess objectively the implications of FES in muscle strengthening of gluteus medium associated with the Physiotherapy Protocol Total Hip Arthroplasty (PPTHA), through the assessment of motor performance in patients undergoing surgery for Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA), aiming to better rehabilitation strategies for this population. The objective of the research is to assess the effects of functional rehabilitation through PPTHA associated with FES in the gluteus medium compared only with the PPTHA, in patients undergoing surgery for THA. The principal hypothesis is that there is difference between the functional rehabilitation of the patients undergoing PPTHA associated with the FES of gluteus medium, after THA and the patients submitted only to PPTHA.

Multimodal Drug Infiltration in Total Knee Arthroplasty: Is Posterior Capsular Infiltration Worth the Risk?

Multimodal local anesthetic infiltration (LAI) provides effective pain control in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Some surgeons avoid posterior capsular infiltration (PCI) for fear of damaging posterior neurovascular structures. Data are limited on the added benefits of PCI using different combinations of local anesthetic agents. Therefore, the investigator wanted to know the effectiveness of pain control in LAI with and without PCI. Half of participants received LAI with PCI, while the other half received LAI without PCI during total knee arthroplasty.

Bioavailability Study With GLPG1972

This is an open-label study to determine the pharmacokinetics of a new tablet formulation of GLPG1972 and to compare it with this of the liquid solution used during the First-in-Human study (GLPG1972-CL-101). The impact of food intake on the oral bioavailability of GLPG1972 administered as tablet will also be investigated in this study. A dose of 600 mg has been selected. The study is a phase I randomized open-label cross-over study with three single dose treatments: A) 600 mg GLPG1972 oral solution after overnight fast, B) 600 mg GLPG1972 oral tablet after overnight fast, C) 600 mg GLPG1972 oral tablet 30 minutes after high-fat high-calorie breakfast. A washout of at least 6 days between subsequent dosing days is respected so that no measurable plasma levels or biologically significant effects are remaining. There will be frequent assessment of adverse experiences post-dose. Twelve healthy male subjects will be selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and 2 subjects each will be randomized to one of the 6 treatment sequences (ABC, ACB, BAC, BCA, CAB, CBA)

Whole Body Vibration on Running Biomechanics

Assessment of Patients Quality of Life Treated With Three ARTHRUM H 2% Joint Injections

The reduction of functional limits and disablilities induced by knee osteoarthritis as well as improvement of patients quality of life is a public health need registered amongst the priorities established by the French law of August 9th 2004 relative to Public Health policy. However, the response to this need is not limited to treatment with health products. This clinical trial in real life on ARTHRUM H 2% device aims to analyse patients quality of life treated by intraarticular injections, eventually for several years, by difference of usual clinical trials. This open, prospective, multicentric study aims to analyse, in patient care, the impact of three intraarticular injections of ARTHRUM H 2% on quality of life over a period of 6 months (D180) in the symptomatic treatment of knee osteoarthritis.
