Super Skills for Life Effectiveness in the Online Modality

The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the transdiagnostic program Super Skills for Life (SSL). This protocol targets children aged 8 to 12 with emotional problems (anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and lack of social skills). SSL consists of eight sessions targeting common risk factors for internalizing disorders such as cognitive distortions, avoidance, emotional management, low self-esteem, social skills deficits, and coping strategies. The present research focuses on assessing the effectiveness of SSL applied online (through a virtual platform).

Implementation and Evaluation of the ChildTaks+ Intervention in the Czech Republic

Aims of the study. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the ChildTalks+ intervention and to implement it in education and practice. By delivering the ChildTalks+ intervention, i.e. educating parents about the transgenerational transmission of the disorder, informing them about the impact on their children, strengthening their parenting competencies, supporting communication within the family and informing COPMI about their parents' mental disorder, listening to their needs and providing emotional and social support to the family, the investigators expect the following outcomes: improved family communication, including children's awareness of their parents' mental health problems, improved overall well-being of COPMI, heightened perceptions of parental competence, increased family protective factors, including strengthened social support, sustained over time. Part of the intervention consists of early identification of social-emotional problems in children and referral for further professional help. The research questions the investigators will focus on are: - What are the effects of the ChildTalks+ intervention in families where parents have a mental health disorder? - Is the ChildTalks+ intervention feasible for therapists who treat patients with mental disorder? - Is the ChildTalks+ intervention feasible in families where one parent has an eating disorder? - Should the ChildTalks+ intervention be modified for this group of families where parent has an eating disorders?

Analysis of Risk Factors of Neurodevelopmental Disorder in Deaf Infants Under Ten Months of Age.

Among risk factors of neurodevelopmental disorder is congenital hearing loss. However, congenital deafness is neither necessary nor sufficient for the occurrence of warning signs of neurodevelopmental disorder. The investigative team hypothesizes that the co-occurrence of these two clinical entities results from a common origin, within a syndromic diagnosis including other medical issues. These situations would therefore be very different from those of babies suffering from isolated sensorineural deafness. This study aims to identify which factors are statistically correlated with the association of congenital deafness and early symptoms of neurodevelopmental disorder, thanks to a partnership between a regional center for psychiatry of deaf children (Therapeutic Childhood and Deafness Unit of St Maurice Hospitals, UTES) and a pediatric audiophonology department (ENT department of the Necker-Enfants Malades hospital). This work is based on a cohort of 26 children under ten months of age diagnosed with severe to profound congenital sensorineural hearing loss. As part of their pre-implantation cochlear assessment, a consultation was filmed to precisely analyze the interactional and sensorimotor skills of these children (clinical observations, administration of a specific evaluation grid called Olliac Grid), after reviewing the films. The investigative team will then be able to grade the neurodevelopmental risk. In order to clarify what factors are linked with a neurodevelopmental risk, medical data concerning the child's family context, birth, and audiological profile will also be collected, and put in perspective with the assessed neurodevelopmental risk gradation.

A Multi-domain Approach for the Characterization and Early Diagnosis of Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Diagnosis and characterization of neurodevelopmental disorders are considered challenging processes because of their complexity, multi-factoriality and heterogeneity. The present project will consider two of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders (i.e. autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and language disorders (LD)), with the aim to overcome these difficulties, by: a) deeply investigating their neuronal correlates; b) identifying multi-domain biomarkers (electrophysiological, genetic, environmental and clinical); c) developing a machine learning algorithm for early diagnosis. To achieve the above mentioned aims a multi-domain dataset will be used, comprising data collected from typically developing infants, infants at high risk for ASD and infants at high risk for LD. The data that will be used have been already collected within other trials performed at the Scientific Institute E. Medea.

Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Mental Health Service Utilization in Children and Adolescents

Mental health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic may be vast and may potentially overwhelm the mental health system in a long-lasting manner. Evaluating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health in vulnerable groups such as children and adolescents has become an immediate priority. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on use of mental health resources namely 1) prescriptions of psychotropic medications and 2) mental health-related outpatient visits, hospitalizations and emergency department visits in children and adolescents in France. Secondary aim is to evaluate the impact of the pandemic on episodes of fatal and non-fatal self-harm episodes in the same population. This will be a population-based cohort study using data from healthcare claims, administrative medical and outpatient drug dispensation databases in France between January 1, 2016 and June 1, 2021. Findings will inform on the risk of upcoming outbreaks of mental disorders that can result in significant morbidity and mortality and guide timely targeted actions to improve mental health outcomes and wellbeing in the youngest.

Effect of Obstetric Anesthesia and Delivery Mode On Neurodevelopmental And Behavioural Outcomes In A Population-Based Birth Cohort

The study aims to determine: 1. The association between Obstetric anesthesia events at delivery (such as mode of anesthesia, drugs given, desaturation and hypotension) on pediatric neurodevelopmental and behavioural outcomes. 2. Mode of delivery on pediatric neurodevelopmental and behavioural outcomes. 3. Effect of labour epidural analgesia on neurodevelopmental and behavioural outcomes. 4. To determine if these would differ between very preterm, moderate preterm, late preterm and term infants. The study team hypothesise that: 1. Adverse maternal events during anesthesia and labor analgesia may be associated with poorer neurodevelopmental outcomes in infants. 2. Delivery via a lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) combined with a general anesthetic during delivery may be associated with adverse pediatric neurodevelopmental and behavioural outcomes. 3. The use of labour epidural analgesia is associated with poorer neurodevelopmental and behavioural outcomes. 4. These differences may be more pronounced in preterm infants as compared to term infants.

This study is aimed to investigate the effectiveness of functional power training on attention, gross and fine motor skill, participation and quality of life in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) by comparing traditional strength training and their healthy peers. In the literature, there are limited studies that investigate the effect of power exercise in children with ADHD. But there is no randomized controlled trial include power exercises which is designed to the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) criteria and investigate the effects on attention, gross and fine motor skill, participation and quality of life in children with ADHD. This study hypothesizes that power exercises could improve attention, gross and fine motor skill, participation, and quality of life better than traditional strength training in children with ADHD.
