NCT ID: NCT00823303 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Disease

Paricalcitol Versus Calcitriol for Efficacy and Safety in Stage 3/4 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) With Secondary Hyperparathyroidism (SHPT)

PACE
Start date: February 2009
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Secondary Hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) occurs in many patients with kidney disease and leads to bone disease. Active forms of vitamin D, calcitriol and paricalcitol, treat SHPT, but may have different effects on blood calcium. This study will randomize patients with SHPT and stage 3 or 4 CKD to treatment with calcitriol or paricalcitol, and monitor patients for the incidence of high blood calcium, and effectiveness of SHPT treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00821964 Completed - Clinical trials for Stage IV Breast Cancer

Topical Imiquimod and Abraxane in Treating Patients With Advanced Breast Cancer

Start date: December 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This phase II trial is studying the side effects of giving topical imiquimod together with Abraxane (paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation) to see how well it works in treating patients with advanced breast cancer. Biological therapies, such as imiquimod, may stimulate the immune system to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as Abraxane, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving imiquimod together with Abraxane may kill more tumor cells.

NCT ID: NCT00821860 Completed - Metastatic Cancer Clinical Trials

Video-Assisted Surgery or Talc Pleurodesis in Treating Patients With Malignant Mesothelioma

MesoVATS
Start date: September 2003
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Video-assisted surgery to remove part of the tissue layer covering the inside of the chest cavity may be effective in treating pleural effusion and cause less damage to normal tissue. Talc pleurodesis may keep fluid from building up in the chest cavity. It is not yet known which therapy is more effective in treating pleural effusion caused by malignant mesothelioma. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying video-assisted surgery to see how well it works compared with talc pleurodesis in treating patients with malignant mesothelioma.

NCT ID: NCT00820222 Completed - Metastases, Brain Clinical Trials

Lapatinib Plus Capecitabine Versus Trastuzumab Plus Capecitabine in ErbB2 (HER2) Positive Metastatic Breast Cancer

Start date: April 14, 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This open label study was designed to evaluate Lapatinib effect on incidence of brain metastases in ErbB2 (HER2) positive metastatic breast cancer patients exposed to prior taxanes or anthracyclines.

NCT ID: NCT00814021 Completed - Metastatic Cancer Clinical Trials

Sunitinib in Treating Patients With Kidney Cancer That Has Spread to the Brain

Start date: April 2009
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Sunitinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well sunitinib works in treating patients with kidney cancer that has spread to the brain.

NCT ID: NCT00806663 Completed - Clinical trials for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

FOLFIRI and Sunitinib in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

Start date: August 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is an open label single arm prospective multicenter Phase II study in around 20 patients. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate whether the addition of sunitinib to FOLFIRI results in a significant reduction of tumor vessel permeability (TVP) and blood flow (BF) measured by DCE-MRI and DCE-USI, measured on liver metastases. Secondary objectives are antitumor response, time to progression (TTP), effect on pharmacokinetics of sunitinib and biomarkers (VEGF und soluble VEGF-receptor) and drug/treatment safety.

NCT ID: NCT00803712 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Disease

20070360 Incident Dialysis

Start date: February 1, 2009
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Randomized Trial to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Cinacalcet Treatment in Combination with Low Dose Vitamin D for the Treatment of Subjects with Secondary Hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) Recently Initiating Hemodialysis

NCT ID: NCT00799461 Completed - Depression Clinical Trials

Internet-Based Program With or Without Telephone-Based Problem-Solving Training in Helping Long-Term Survivors of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Cope With Late Complications

Start date: August 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: A personalized Internet-based program may help improve fatigue, depression, and quality of life in long-term survivors of stem cell transplant. It is not yet known whether an Internet-based program is more effective with or without telephone-based problem-solving training. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying how well an Internet-based program works with or without telephone-based problem-solving training in helping long-term survivors of hematopoietic stem cell transplant cope with late complications

NCT ID: NCT00798135 Completed - Breast Neoplasms Clinical Trials

A Pilot Trial of Itraconazole Pharmacokinetics in Patients With Metastatic Breast Cancer

Start date: November 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Cancer cells need to be able to make new blood vessels in order to keep growing. This is called angiogenesis. In a laboratory setting, the drug itraconazole was shown to help stop the growth of new blood vessels (anti-angiogenesis). It is hoped that itraconazole will prevent new blood vessels from forming in humans too. The purpose of this study is to look at how the body processes and breaks down itraconazole (called pharmacokinetics). This study will also measure markers in your blood to see if itraconazole stops new blood vessels from forming. The safety of itraconazole will also be tested to see what effects (good and bad) it has on you and your breast cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00795769 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia

Ondansetron in Preventing Nausea and Vomiting in Patients Undergoing Stem Cell Transplant

Start date: August 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Ondansetron may help lessen or prevent nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well ondansetron works in preventing nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing stem cell transplant.
