Cervical Sensorimotor Control Training in Chronic Neck Pain

Impaired cervical joint position sense is associated with neck pain. This study will determine the effects of sensorimotor control training exercises on cervical joint position, pain, ROM and function in nonspecific chronic neck pain. There will be two groups ; experimental and control. Half of study group will receive cervical sensorimotor control training exercises and half of study group will receive conventional physiotherapy protocol.

Effects of Motor Imagery and Action Observation Training on Neck Reposition Sense in Patients With Chronic Neck Pain

This study evaluates the influence of motor imagery or action observation training on joint position error in patients with chronic neck pain. This variable is a measure of proprioception and cervical motor control. A group of patients will receive an action observation training of neck movements, another will receive a protocol of motor imagery of the same movements and the last group will be a placebo group, through the viewing of a documentary video.

Manual Therapy and Exercise With Mixed Reality With Hololens® Exercise Protocol in Chronic Neck Pain Patiens.

Currently, cervical pain is the second most frequent musculoskeletal disorder, which generates an important impact on the function and quality of life. It is estimated that its anual prevalence for the general population can reach 50%. Non-specific cervical pain attends without signs or symptoms of structural or neurological pathology, its etiology is unknown. However, it is related with joint and muscular structures. It has been observed a decrease in the strength and endurace of the deep cervical flexor muscles in 70% of patients with cervical pain; as well as motor control déficit and coordination alterations in the sinergy between the activity of the superficial and deep musculature. Also, phycosocial factors, as for example: behaviors of fear-avoidance, catastrophism, hypervigilancy, psychosocial stress and negative adaptative neuroplastic changes, may have an importante role in chronic musculoskeletal pain. In the last years, RV has been used in clinical rehabilitation, being a reliable and valid tool, which allows the patient distration to virtual world and they have offered results like: decreased pain and fear of movement and also improvements in motor performance and neuroplasticity processes. The aim of this single-blinded randomized novel pilot study is to observe the effects generated in motor variables, when a protocol of manual therapy combined with augmented reality as a method of exercise in subjects with non-specific cervical pain is applied; in comparaison with a protocol of manual therapy combined with conventional cervical exercises. Different variables will be measured at the beginning and at the end of intervention. Also, they will be measured one month after the intervention to observe the changes produced in short term. These variables are: pain, function, satisfaction, propioception, endurance, as well as phychological and somatosensory variables.

INYBI Tool in Chronic Neck Pain

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of using a manual inhibition technique for the suboccipital muscles compared with the use of the so-called INYBI tool in individuals with chronic non-specific neck pain, and the compare the results of using both approaches on pain relief, cervical range of motion neck and vertical maximum mouth opening. Design: Quantitative, experimental, longitudinal, prospective, and double blinded study. Subjects: Patients between 18 and 40 years, with chronic non-specific neck pain of at least 3 months of evolution. Methods: The experimental group will undergo a 5 minutes intervention for the suboccipital muscles using the INYBI tool. The control group will receive a 5 minutes of treatment involving the suboccipital muscles manual inhibition technique.

Acupuncture Relief for Chronic Neck Pain

This study will measure the effectiveness of "usual care" for chronic neck pain as defined in the protocol, compared with usual care plus acupuncture for chronic neck pain. This study's hypothesis is that combining acupuncture with usual care will show a clinically relevant increase in the effectiveness of the integrated therapies, compared with usual care alone. This study will also measure the cost-effectiveness of acupuncture for chronic neck pain. the hypothesis is that in economic evaluation terms, integrating acupuncture with usual care will not create significant overall costs, relative to the benefits which study patients obtain.
