The aim of this study is to examine the effects of neuroscience-based exercise approaches on pain, disability and gait parameters in individuals with non-specific chronic neck pain. Material- Methods Demographic data, gait parameters, Dizabilty level and craniovertebral angle values of individuals were evaluated with clinical data evaluation form, Spatio-Temporal Gait Analysis (LEGSystm), Neck Disability Index and photometer, respectively. The evaluations were performed 2 times before and after the treatment.

Pain Education, Motivational Interviewing and Exercise in Chronic Neck Pain

Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of a complex intervention (COGMO intervention) compared with routine clinical practice in primary care physiotherapy to improve the intensity, severity of pain, and cervical disability in patients with chronic neck pain. Methodology: Design: Pragmatic cluster randomized trial with 12-month follow-up. The unit of randomization is the physiotherapist and the unit of analysis the patient. Scope: Madrid Primary Care health centers. Subjects: Patients 18-65 years old, with neck pain (> 3 months), moderate-severe (>30 mm in visual pain scale). Sample size: 142 patients (71 per branch). Sampling: consecutive of patients who are referred from the family doctor to the Primary Care physiotherapist. Intervention: COGMO Intervention Group (3 components: pain neuroscience communication, motivational interviewing and cognition targeted exercise therapy). Control group: Health education program. Variables: Main: Decrease in intensity of pain: yes / no (> = 30mm on the visual pain scale). Secondary: Related to pain (severity of pain, modulation conditioned to pain, temporal summation, decrease in the disability index, related to psycho-emotional-social aspects: decrease in fear / avoidance behaviour, decrease in kinesiophobia (TSK) and Catastrophism (PCS). Quality of life (Euroqol). Sociodemographic, other treatments, adherence to intervention. Data collection: Baseline visit and 3 follow-up visits (3,6,12 months). Statistical analysis: Intention-to-treat analysis. Difference in the percentage of subjects who achieve success in the main variable at 12 months in the COGMO group compared to control group. A GEE logit model to adjust for other factors.

Effects of Scapulothoracic Stabilization Exercises on Pain and Neck Function in Patients With Chronic Neck Pain

Neck pain is a common musculoskeletal disorder, involving discomfort and pain around the neck region, which results in limited neck function. Due to chronic neck pain, patient's neck function, cervical proprioception, ROM and cervical muscle strength is affected. Exercise is considered as one of the evidence-based modality to decrease pain, prevent further injury, increase muscle strength, endurance and flexibility, improve proprioception, and contribute and sustain normal life activities. In addition, recent studies suggest that exercises including not only neck but also scapulothoracic region might be more beneficial for the management of patients with chronic neck pain.Scapulothoracic stabilization exercises in addition to cervical stabilization exercises have the potential of improving this cervical sensorimotor control, however evidence is deficient Hence, this study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of adding scapula-thoracic stabilization training to conventional physical therapy on pain and neck function in the patients with chronic neck pain.

Additional Effect of Cranial Base Release on Cervical Range and Proprioception in Patients With Mechanical Neck Pain

Mechanical Neck pain is the second most commonly occurring musculoskeletal disorder worldwide, ranking 4th in overall disability. It is referred to as Nonspecific generalized neck pain with mechanical characteristics with a primary location between the supranuchal line and the first thoracic spinous process, includingpatients suffering from mechanical neck pain are reported to have several impairments, including pain, reduced cervical ROM, neck disability, and proprioceptive dysfunction. The treatment indicated involves the use of electrotherapy and thermal modalities. In addition, the use of different manual therapy techniques is advocated; however, the most effective management is still debatable. Evidence suggests that Natural Apophyseal glides have a significant positive effect on mechanical neck pain patients. So the study will identify the additional effect of cranial base release with natural apophyseal glides in alleviating pain and its effects on proprioception.

The goal of this observational trial is to compare the health history and motion capabilities of participants with low back pain disorders to participants with healthy spines. The main question[s] it aims to answer are to: 1. Primary outcomes of this research effort include composite measures that differentiate between control and patient populations, predict injury or reinjury risk, identify low back and neck pain patient phenotypes, and evaluate treatment effectiveness. 2. Secondary outcomes of this research effort include an assessment of wearable motion sensor accuracy, characterization of motion assessment utility, biopsychosocial profiling of control and low back and neck pain patient populations, and differentiation of sincere and insincere motion assessment efforts. Participants will complete questionnaires and wear a motion monitor that will assess your back and/or neck. This session will be approximately 40-70 minutes. The research team will follow up with participants at 3 month, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 5 years to complete a short series of questionnaires and a motion assessment test.
