Role of Exogenous and Endogenous Sex Hormones on Tenofovir and Emtricitabine Disposition in Female Genital Tract

Cervical biopsies will be collected from women aged 18 and over whom are virally suppressed and taking tenofovir as part of their antiretroviral therapy regimen. Blood plasma, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), and cervicovaginal swabs will also be collected. Drug concentrations, hormone concentrations, inflammatory cytokines, and vaginal microbiome will be evaluated to understand the role of hormones, inflammation, and the microbiome in modulating drug efficacy in the female genital tract.

Cachexia in Gynecological Cancer and the Preventive Role of Weight Training

The study aim was to compare the effectiveness of combined training (CT; aerobic + resistance exercises) and high-intensity interval body weight training (HIITBW) on body composition, metabolic and inflammatory profile, physical function and quality of life in older women with gynecological and breast cancer and their pair-matched controls (older women with no cancer). The hypothesis of the present clinical trial is that HIITBW is effective as well as CT for improvements on body composition, metabolic and inflammatory profile, physical function and quality of life in older women with gynecological and breast cancer.

Use of Estriol at Distal Third of Vagina Improving Coital Pain in Post-menopause Women

Hypoestrogenism leads to vaginal wall changes resulting in diminished vaginal lubrication and, consequently, causing pain during intercourse. Topical estrogen therapy (THT) may control this complaint. However, there are limitations on its use, especially in patients with breast cancer and diagnosed endometrial cancer. This randomized clinical trial aims to assess the impact of local estriol therapy in postmenopausal women complaining of coital pain and to assess serum concentrations of estriol in these women after estriol use. One-hundred-thirty-two women aged between 40 and 65 years will be randomized into three groups: Women using estriol 1 mg / 1g at the proximal third of vagina every other night - estriol proximal group (PEG), women in using estriol 1 mg / 1g at the distal third of the vagina every other night - estriol distal group (DEG), gel group (GG) using water-based during intercourse.
