Filter by:The purpose of this study is to investigate if individuals with a cannabis use disorder have an impaired cerebellar function by assessing possible alterations to their implicit adaptation during a visuomotor rotation task.
The proposed protocol is a double-blind, placebo-controlled outpatient study of the safety and benefit of Extended-release mixed amphetamine salt (Adderall-XR, MAS-XR) in the treatment of individuals with Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD) and Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The investigators plan to enroll 50 and randomize 40 of these patients in the trial. The primary objective of the study is to determine the efficacy of MAS-XR in promoting cannabis abstinence among individuals with CUD and in promoting a decrease of ADHD symptoms.
The aim of this fMRI study is to investigate neural indices of relapse in cannabis dependence. The development and maintenance of drug addictions have been associated with deficits in cognitive control, craving and impaired stress regulation. Therefore, neural markers of brain processes underlying the beforementioned components will be studied. Subsequent follow-up drug use interviews will reveal associations between relapse in cannabis dependence and alterations in brain networks of cognitive control, craving and stress.

The purpose of the proposed study is to investigate the effectiveness of cannabidiol for reducing marijuana seeking in non-treatment seeking volunteers. Cannabidiol is a cannabinoid (similar to cannabis, or marijuana) present in marijuana that alters some of the effects of marijuana. Assess the ability of acute smoked CBD pretreatment to reduce marijuana-seeking behavior and increase price-elasticity of marijuana demand.
This pilot study gathered preliminary evidence of the safety and efficacy of four potencies of smoked cannabis to manage chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD among veterans: (1) High THC/ Low CBD (High THC), (2) Low THC/High CBD (High CBD), (3) High THC/ High CBD (THC/CBD) and (4) Low THC/Low CBD (placebo). The study will produce preliminary evidence to help elucidate the potential effects of THC, CBD, or a combination of both constituents to reduce PTSD symptoms. Smoked cannabis will be tested in two stages of three weeks each (Stage 1 and Stage 2), with a two-week cessation period after each stage, verified by blood/urine cannabinoid analysis. The primary objective was to compare three active concentrations of smoked cannabis and placebo on PTSD symptom severity measured by CAPS-5 total severity scores during Stage 1.
Marijuana is one of the most widely used substances. However, marijuana intoxication is not fully understood in relation to driving. This study will help the investigators learn more about the potential impairments related to marijuana intoxicated driving. A combination of MRI and neuropsychological tests (which are computer and paper/pencil tasks) will be used to measure intoxication and impairment. This study will also assess levels of marijuana in blood and saliva samples. This study takes place in Hartford, Connecticut.
This study adapts the Public Health Service (PHS) 5As model for use with adolescent marijuana users and pilot the intervention to test feasibility and acceptability in pediatric primary care settings. The specific aims are as follows: Aim 1: Develop a marijuana screening and brief counseling intervention for adolescents based on the Public Health Service 5As model and previously developed adolescent smoking cessation intervention. Hypothesis 1: The 5As model can be adapted for use as a marijuana screening and counseling intervention for adolescents. Aim 2: Test the feasibility and acceptability of the 5As marijuana screening and brief counseling intervention in pediatric primary care practice. Hypothesis 2a: Pediatric clinicians will find the 5As intervention feasible and acceptable for addressing marijuana use in routine clinical visits with adolescents and their families; and Hypothesis 2b: Adolescents will find the 5As intervention delivered by their clinicians to be acceptable in the context of routine preventive services delivery.
The aim of this functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study is to find out whether and how social and emotional brain function are altered in dependent cannabis users relative to healthy non-using control subjects after a 28 supervised abstinence period. Previous research in cannabis users has predominantly focused on cognitive functions. Moreover, studies have implicated that observed deficits in cannabis users may regenerate after a prolonged abstinence period. Findings might provide important information with respect to relapse vulnerability.
