The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the supplement PEAPROSTIL 600 (FARMITALIA®) composed of Serenoa Repens combined with PEA in single or combined therapy with alpha-blocker in the reduction of voiding symptoms in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients at low risk of progression to obstructing conditioning that need for surgical therapy. Any adverse events, intolerance, allergic reactions, complications related to the products used will be recorded throughout the study period.

Preoperative Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy to Minimize Stress Urinary Incontinence After Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate

The purpose of this study is to allow us to assess the effectiveness (or success) of starting pelvic floor physical therapy (i.e. exercises for your pelvic muscles) prior to HoLEP (holmium laser enucleation of the prostate) surgery for enlarged prostates in order to manage or prevent urinary incontinence (i.e. leaking) after surgery (i.e. post-operatively). Your pelvic floor refers to the muscles under your bladder along your pelvic bones that prevent you from leaking urine or stool. Traditionally, pelvic floor physical therapy is started after surgery and continued until urinary continence (i.e. no leaking of urine) is regained. We want to assess if beginning pelvic floor physical therapy prior to surgery (and continuing afterwards) reduces the time required to regain urinary continence following HoLEP.

Comparison of a Paper and Automated Bladder Diary in Pediatric Patients

The purpose of this study is to compare an automated bladder diary (autoBD) to a paper bladder diary (pBD) on their level of agreement, patient compliance and satisfaction. It is a mixed methods, randomized 2x2 crossover trial. Pediatric patients (6 to 12 years) presenting to the clinic and identified as requiring a bladder diary will be recruited. Participants will be randomized either to group 1, where they complete the paper bladder diary (pBD) and then the automated bladder diary (autoBD), or to group 2, where they complete the autoBD and then the pBD. Both diaries are kept for at least 2 consecutive days with a wash-out period of 2 to 6 days between the two diaries. Mean differences and the level of agreement between the pBD and autoBD will be analysed using Bland Altman plots for key diary parameters. After completion of each diary format, participants will complete a short online survey regarding compliance, satisfaction and their preference, if any. Finally, a selection of participants and their parents will be invited for an open-ended interview. The participating healthcare professionals will be asked to score each pBD and autoBD on patient compliance when processing the diary. Furthermore, surveys and open-ended interviews will be conducted to assess their overall satisfaction of each diary type and their preference, if any.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate and standardize the way providers perform OnabotulinumtoxinA (BTX-A) injections into the bladder for the diagnosis of neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD)/overactive bladder (OAB). NLUTD/OAB is a syndrome that affects many people, and includes urinary frequency, urinary urgency, urgency incontinence, and nocturia. This syndrome can be challenging to treat and often requires procedural management - including BTX-A injections into the bladder.

Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms and School Functioning in Children

Children in primary school often suffer from lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), which may negatively impact their overall well-being. Co-occurring neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) can adversely affect children as well and can cause restrictions in their daily life, especially in their school-environment. The goal of this observational study is to identify the prevalence of LUTS in Flemish primary school children.The main questions it aims to answer are: - How prevalent are LUTS in regular primary education? - Is there a relation with well-being in school environment? - Is there an influence of co-occuring NDDs? Children, parents and teachers will be asked to fill in questionnaires related to this research question.

Brain Activity Among Children With Overactive Bladder and Daytime Urinary Incontinence and Healthy Children

The aim of this study is to investigate whether the activity in brain areas controlling the bladder is different among children suffering from Overactive Bladder (OAB) and Daytime Urinary Incontinence (DUI) compared to age- and gender-matched healthy children without bladder symptoms. Moreover, the aim is to investigate if sacral transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) has a central mechanism of action. Children with OAB and DUI will be recruited from involved pediatric departments, and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) will be performed before and after 10 weeks of sacral TENS. In healthy children without bladder symptoms, only the baseline fMRI will be performed.

Neuflo System for the Treatment of BPH

The goal of this clinical study is to assess the effectiveness and safety of the Neuflo System for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The main questions it aims to answer are: - Can treatment with the Neuflo System lead to at least a 30% improvement in lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) secondary to BPH, as measured by the international prostate symptom score (IPSS) at 3 months after treatment which is sustained for 12 months? - Is treatment with the Neuflo System tolerable to the patient, as measured by visual analog score (VAS) for pain before and after treatment and procedural medication requirements? - Is treatment with the Neuflo System safe, as measured by the incidence and severity of device or procedural related serious adverse events. Participants will be enrolled in the study over a 6 month period. Each participant will be treated with the Neuflo System and assessed at 3 and 12 months following treatment. A subgroup of patients will have an MRI at 1 week to assess the volume and location of ablated tissue. The duration of the study is expected to be 18 months.

Effects of Conservative Management on Relieving Storage Urinary Symptoms and Poor Sleep in Women With Diabetes

Women with type 2 diabetes (n=150) experiencing ≥1 storage lower urinary tract symptoms and poor sleep health will be recruited from the outpatient departments or wards/units of the selected hospitals/clinics. Our study aims to examine the effects of conservative management incorporating urologic health promotion and sleep health promotion on relieving storage lower urinary tract symptoms and poor sleep, and on improving urologic health self-management behaviors and health-related quality of life. Women who agree to participate will be randomly assigned into the intervention group A, intervention group B, or comparison group. The intervention group A receives a 4-month conservative management with sleep hygiene related adjustments, pelvic floor muscle training, and urologic health promotion. The intervention group B receives a 4-month conservative management with brief behavioral treatment for insomnia (BBTI), pelvic floor muscle training, and urologic health promotion. The comparison group receives information related to pelvic floor muscle training and urologic health promotion, and receives a brief conservative management related to sleep hygiene adjustments after the completion of data collection. Information related to intervention effects is obtained by a questionnaire, a wristwatch-like actigraphy, and physical activity/diet/voiding/sleep logs from all participants at 4 data collection points: baseline, and 2-, 4-, 6-month follow-ups. Our study hypothesis is that the intervention effects on relieving storage lower urinary tract symptoms and poor sleep, and on improving urologic health self-management behaviors and health-related quality of life in the intervention group A or B are superior to the changes revealed in the comparison group.
