NCT ID: NCT03759158 Completed - Liver Cirrhoses Clinical Trials

N-Acetyl Cysteine in the Prevention of Contrast Induced Nephropathy in Cirrhosis of Liver-NEPHRO Trial

Start date: December 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Contrast induced nephropathy has an incidence of 7-11 % in patients undergoing Contrast imaging for various conditions. The risk associated with the development of CIN are still under evaluation. Even with patients having normal kidney functions there is a risk of contrast induced nephropathy hence the need for markers which could predict injury. Cirrhosis of liver predisposes patient to Kidney abnormalities as these patients lower renal reserve and can have various conditions like Hepatorenal syndrome, Sepsis, ATN. Contrast imaging is vital for ruling out conditions like Hepatocellular Carcinoma in patients of cirrhosis of liver. Presently there is no study in cirrhosis of liver which studies the Effect of N-acetyl cysteine before and after contrast imaging in the prevention Of CIN. The incidence of CNI is cirrhosis is also an avenue which requires more studies and also there is a need for formulation of a Score to predict this CIN. Hence this study is being done to assess the incidence of CNI and the role of N-Acetyl cysteine in Preventing CNI.

NCT ID: NCT03753438 Completed - Liver Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

Intragastric Balloon in Compensated NASH(Non Alcoholic Steato Hepatitis) Cirrhotics

Start date: August 2, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The study will be conducted in department of Hepatology at ILBS, the patients will be recruited from the OPD or IPD . The obese cirrhotic patients with NASH will be observed for standard of care and also patients who undergo IGB placement as part of weight reduction policy in these group of patients and will undergo an UGI endoscopy followed by placement of intragastric balloon. Then the patients will be admitted for 2-3 days and followed up till 6 months.

NCT ID: NCT03749954 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Compensated Cirrhosis

Detachable String Magnetically Controlled Capsule Endoscopy for Detecting High-risk Varices in Compensated Cirrhosis

Start date: November 9, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Gastroesophageal varices is a serious complication of compensated advanced chronic liver disease (cACLD). Primary prophylaxis to reduce the risk of variceal haemorrhage is recommended if high-risk varices (HRV) are detected. We performed this study to compare the accuracy, patients' satisfaction and safety of detection of HRV by detachable string magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy (DS-MCCE) with esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) as the standard.

NCT ID: NCT03748563 Completed - Liver Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

Accuracy of Magnetically Maneuvered Capsule Endoscopy for Detection of EGV in Patients With Cirrhosis

Start date: January 7, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a diagnostic accuracy study. Eligible individuals will be enrolled and asked to undergo ds-MCE and EGD examinations. EGD is the reference standard against which ds-MCE is compared, and it will be performed within 48 hours after ds-MCE examination. The primary outcome is the sensitivity and specificity of ds-MCE in identifying the presence of esophagogastric (EGV) in patients with cirrhosis, using detection by EGD as the reference. The diagnostic accuracy of ds-MCE in detection of high-risk EV, high-risk EGV, EV, large EV, red signs of EV, GV, cardiofundal GV and PHG compared with the EGD will also be assessed. The incidence of PHE in small bowel under ds-MCE, the examination time of ds-MCE and EGD procedures, patient satisfaction assessment and safety evaluation will also be evaluated.

NCT ID: NCT03746210 Recruiting - Liver Cirrhoses Clinical Trials

Non-Invasive Characterization of Focal Liver Lesions in Liver Cirrhosis

NICETIES
Start date: January 1, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study aims to analyze non-invasive characterization focal liver lesions in patients with liver cirrhosis. The diagnostic accuracy and predictive value of non-invasive methods is studied.

NCT ID: NCT03743272 Recruiting - Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

Repeatability and Reproducibility of Multiparametric MRI

Start date: June 3, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study aims to prospectively assess the repeatability and reproducibility of iron-corrected T1 (cT1), T2*, and hepatic proton density fat fraction (PDFF) quantification with multiparametric MRI using the LiverMultiScan™ (LMS, Perspectum Diagnostics, Oxford, UK) protocol across different field strengths, scanner manufacturers and models.

NCT ID: NCT03736265 Active, not recruiting - Portal Hypertension Clinical Trials

Carvedilol for Prevention of Esophageal Varices Progression

Carvedilol
Start date: October 9, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Carvedilol has been shown to be more potent in decreasing portal hypertension to propranolol. But the efficacy of carvedilol to delay the growth of esophageal varices in chronic hepatitis B patients was unclear.

NCT ID: NCT03731923 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Abbreviated MRI for HCC Surveillance

Start date: November 8, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to investigate the clinical feasibility of abbreviated liver MRI for HCC surveillance in a high-risk group.

NCT ID: NCT03729921 Not yet recruiting - Liver Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

Gastric Variceal Ligation Versus Gastric Variceal Obturation for Secondary Prophylaxis of Gastric Varices

Start date: November 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators establish a randomized controlled clinical trial, comparing the efficacy and prognosis of GVL and GVO in secondary prevention of GVs, especially in patients with portosystemic shunting, and exploring the endoscopic treatment selection of different types of GVs. Outcome expectations: Compared with glue injection, endoscopic ligation for secondary prevention of gastric varices is safe and effective, especially in patients with portosystemic shunting.

NCT ID: NCT03726827 Completed - NAFLD Clinical Trials

A Self Selected Population Study of Undiagnosed NAFLD and NASH, Using an Echosens FibroScan, in at Risk Populations

SUNN
Start date: December 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Liver disease (NAFLD) and (NASH) are a rapidly increasing population health threat driven primarily by diet and lifestyle. Fibrotic liver disease, culminating in cirrhosis, is frequently asymptomatic so it is common for a patient to first learn of what is a life threatening condition by being told that they have cirrhosis. Management and treatment of cirrhosis is complex and very costly with the only current cure being a very expensive transplant for end stage liver disease. The SUNN study seeks to perform Fibroscan wellness testing on at risk but asymptomatic self selected patients in the general population to identify disease early and to triage patients toward care or educational tools based upon test results. No personally identifiable information will be collected but demographic and test results will be imported into a registry for data analysis. Results of the study will guide development of screening protocols to identify early stage disease in a wellness screening model.
