Filter by:In the general population, the percentage of people with at least one digestive disease is 16.7%. Among these digestive diseases, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and patients who should benefit from digestive examinations as part of a screening oriented either by the patient's family history or following the performance of an immunological screening test ( FIT) in the stool will be studied. The aim of this project is to build a biological collection with associated clinical data for research projects.
Descriptive study, in which the haemostatic profile of ambulatory patients with IBD will be analyzed by means of ROTEM and other techniques, such as the thrombin generation test and the study of platelet function by flow cytometry.
In Latin America, inadequate treatment adherence and compliance in IBD patients is around 64% in Brazilians, 54.4% in Mexicans and 50.3% in Argentinians. In industrialised countries, it has been described that in IBD patients, features as younger age, low disease-related knowledge or low treatment adherence and compliance are negatively associated with health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The following research pursues to better understand potential factors related to IBD patients' treatment adherence and compliance as well as patients' IBD-related knowledge level in a Latin American population, and their preferences and barriers when interacting with ICTs for clinical purposes; to develop and to validate an IBD MAHS for Spanish-Speaking patients with Crohn's and ulcerative colitis.
Vedolizumab is a medicine that helps to reduce symptoms of IBD and the associated inflammation in the digestive system for participants with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. In this study, participants with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease will be treated with vedolizumab according to their clinic's standard practice. Participants will receive vedolizumab as either an infusion or an injection just under the skin (subcutaneous). The main aim of the study is to observe real-world treatment patterns in participants treated with vedolizumab. The study sponsor will not be involved in how participants are treated but will provide instructions on how the clinics will record what happens during the study.
Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are chronic inflammatory disorders that can be categorized as ulcerative colitis (UC), Crohn's disease (CD) and indeterminate colitis (IC). Deep remission has been shown to improve disease outcome. There may be a lack of concordance between endoscopic and histologic remission. IBD patients with long standing colitis are at risk of developing dysplasia and colorectal cancer (CRC). However, it can be challenging to diagnose dysplasia in IBD patients during colonoscopy, as dysplasia frequently manifests as non-pedunculated lesions that present with only subtle visible changes or are even invisible due to the surrounding inflammation, scarring, pseudopolyps, or hyperplasia. Although white light endoscopy and chromoendoscopy are the current standard modality of imaging, there is still a gap to be bridged, in terms of improving endoscopic diagnosis of dysplasia and improving concordance of endoscopic and histologic remission. Raman spectroscopy is an inelastic light scattering technique provide specific fingerprints of molecular compositions and structures of biological tissues. It may be able to provide additional diagnostic information over standard endoscopy. A second-generation Raman endoscope system for improving in vivo tissue characterization and diagnosis during colonoscopy has been developed (SPECTRA IMDx system). Preliminary data suggested its utility in the diagnosis of colorectal neoplasia during colonoscopy. There is currently a lack of data concerning the application of this novel technology in the context of IBD. Specifically, whether the spectral signals generated can be used to better classify disease remission, and thus achieve higher concordance with histology when compared to standard endoscopy. It is also unclear whether this technology can be used to differentiate dysplastic mucosa from non-dysplastic mucosal in IBD patients. Hypotheses 1. Raman spectroscopy based artificial intelligence system has the potential to be used to differentiate disease remission from active mucosal inflammation and hence improve concordance between endoscopic and histologic remission, with the potential to decrease the need for random biopsies real-time during colonoscopy. 2. Raman spectroscopy based artificial intelligence system has the potential to differentiate dysplastic mucosa in IBD patients (low grade and high grade dysplasia; colorectal cancer) from non-dysplastic mucosa. real-time during colonoscopy.
The main objective of this project is to assess the occupational insertion of these adult patients with pediatric-onset IBD and to compare it with the general population. The secondary objectives are: 1. to assess the level of education and compare it to that of the general population 2. to assess occupational insertion and the educational level according to: - The disease (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or unclassified colitis) - sex - Age at diagnosis (<or ≥ 10 years) - The occurence of surgery, the location of the disease, the treatments undertaken - Quality of life 3. Evaluate the patient's feelings about the impact of his illness on occupational insertion and the educational level 4. To describe the quality of life of patients in relation to disease activity and health states (QALY calculation) 5. To assess the responsivness to change of the functional handicap score IBD-DI (n = 200 patients)
Inflammatory bowel disease consists of either ulcerative colitis (UC) or Crohn's disease (CD). The main aim of this study is to describe real-world treatment patterns in adults with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease when treated with vedolizumab. This will include the administration choices which can either be an infusion through a vein (intravenous or IV), or an injection just under the skin (subcutaneous injection, or SC). Treatment will be determined by the study doctor according to routine clinical practice.
Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are increasingly becoming interested in nonpharmacologic approaches to their disease. One of the most frequently asked questions of IBD patients is what they should eat. The role of diet has become very important in the prevention and treatment of IBD. Although there is a general lack of rigorous scientific evidence that demonstrates which diet is best for certain patients, several diets have become popular. Aim of the Work To assess IBD patients' knowledge about the role of nutrition in the management of their Inflammatory Bowel Disease and the dietary beliefs, behaviors, and daily dietary practices in adult IBD patients that they make to avoid exacerbation of disease symptoms or to gain more control of bowel symptoms, keeping in mind our traditional and oriental food and food habits in Egypt. Also to evaluate the role of one of the most common dietary regimens; the Paleolithic diet in active mild or moderate inflammatory bowel disease.
The main objective of the present study is to describe the quality of life of patients under 25 years of age with pediatric-onset IBD. The quality of life will be described according to the age and the activity of the disease in order to make it possible to associate with the different states of health a measure of quality of life (utility score) from utility values established in the French context. These data are essential for the realization of medico-economic models.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by severe inflammation of the small bowel and/or the colon leading to recurrent diarrhea and abdominal pain. Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D) is characterized by abdominal pain or discomfort, gas, loose and frequent stools. Butyrate has shown anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties, providing symptomatic relief when orally supplemented in patients suffering from various colonic diseases. The investigator proposes to investigate the effect of a microencapsulated form of sodium butyrate on the fecal microbiota of patients with IBD and IBS-D.
