Filter by:This study is designed to assess the safety and efficacy of Rosmalip® nutritional supplement compared to placebo in subjects with solid cancer for the prevention of infections including COVID-19.
iSpecimen aims to create a clinical partner network of hospitals, laboratories, academic institutions, and other healthcare organizations ("institutions") capable of providing researchers and educators ("researchers") with annotated biospecimens for use in biomarker discovery and validation; diagnostic test and instrumentation development and validation; therapeutics development; other medical research including the impact that various specimen collection and handling methods and conditions have on research results; and in education such as researcher or physician training (collectively "research").
Background: Vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, have been highly effective against preventing severe disease. But the protective effects of these vaccines appear to wane over time. Researchers want to learn why. Objective: To learn more about how the immune system responds to vaccines against infections like SARS-CoV-2. Eligibility: Healthy adults ages 18 or older who are scheduled to receive either a new vaccine or a booster shot against SARS-COV-2 or another emerging infection. Design: Participants will be screened with a medical history and blood and urine tests. Participants will have up to 8 study visits in 1 year. Each visit should last less than 2 hours. At each visit, participants will give blood samples. Some blood samples will be used for genetic testing. They will also give updates on their health. After the first study visit, participants will receive either a first vaccination or a booster shot. They must get the vaccine in their community or workplace. They will not get the vaccine at NIH. This study currently focuses on SARS-CoV-2, but it will expand to other infectious diseases as they emerge and become the target of new vaccines. ...
This study is designed to test the efficacy and safety of combinations of two well-understood agents - famotidine and celecoxib. Each of these agents separately demonstrate clinical activity in mitigating COVID-19 disease symptoms or severity, and each of which appear to have separate and complementary mechanisms of action.
A Randomized controlled trail to To assess the efficacy of povidone-iodine wash before wound closure in preventing surgical site infections.
This master protocol serves as a common reference for the inpatient and outpatient clinical studies that share common elements.
The objective of this trial is to investigate whether a treatment strategy offering bezlotoxumab before FMT in patients suffering from multiple recurrent CDI results in equal efficacy compared with a treatment strategy with initial FMT. Strategy A includes bezlotoxumab as ancillary treatment as first option, and FMT in case of failure. Option B includes FMT as ancillary treatment as first option, and antibiotic treatment with fidaxomicin in case of failure. A secondary objective is to provide a point estimate of recurrence after bezlotoxumab for the treatment of multiple recurrent CDI.
The newly emerged corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread to all over the world, with recent estimates of more than 236 million cases diagnosed and led to 4.8 million deaths as November 20211 .Therapeutic approaches are needed to improve outcomes in patients with COVID-19 since no antiviral agent has yet been proved to be conclusively beneficial in COVID-19 infection, especially in patients with mild to moderate degree of severity There has been growing interest in the anti-parasitic drug, ivermectin, which previously was studied as an antiviral, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer actions2 .It was also reported to have an in-vitro activity against SARS-CoV-23 .Its antiviral properties was due to the action on importin 2/1 mediated nuclear transport. Ivermectin prevents the binding of viral proteins to importin 2/1 rendering the viral proteins unable to enter the nucleus and cause infection4. Several clinical studies have found a beneficial effect of ivermectin in COVID-195-9 However, some study did not find significant difference between the patient group receiving ivermectin and control group10 .Until now, the controlled trials evaluating ivermectin in COVID-19 are lacking. Ivermectin is safe, with reported side effect of less than 1%. Hence it is essential to conduct a clinical trial with ivermectin in patients with COVID-19 .The objective of this study is to establish the efficacy of ivermectin for COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate disease, compare to usual case alone.
The aim of the study is to evaluate the adverse events and the efficacy of virus specific T lymphocytes selected in vitro from a family donor to treat some refractory viral infections as Adenovirus (ADV), Ebstein Barr virus (EBV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV) that developed in young patients (age between 0 and 21 years) after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) performed at the Transplant Clinical Unit of the IRCCS G. Gaslini Institute (IGG).
The effects of frequency and severity of physical complaints and symptoms on general well-being, sleep and quality of life are known. However, in the COVID-19 process, the disease has very different effects, both physical and psychological, and some symptoms persist even if the disease is overcome; In addition to these, the fact that the measures taken throughout the country prompt individuals to take measures to protect themselves from the disease and make it compulsory under some conditions intertwine many different dimensions of the disease on human health and significantly affect daily life. In this context, our first aim in this study is to compare factors such as musculoskeletal problems, physical activity level, endurance and quality of life in healthcare workers with and without COVID-19. Seconder aim is to examine the relationships between factors such as musculoskeletal problems, physical activity level, endurance and quality of life, and to examine the effect levels of the parameters by performing regression analyzes depending on the result.
