Achieve sustained virologic response (SVR) in patients infected with HCV genotype 1, cirrhosis, and early clinical decompensation using 12 weeks of Olysio/Sovaldi/Ribavirin (or known as: Simeprevir(SMV)/Sofosbuvir(SOF)/Ribavirin (RBV). 2. Hepatic improvement during and after Simeprevir(SMV)/Sofosbuvir(SOF)/Ribavirin(RBV) treatment using a new test of liver function, HepQuant-SHUNT.
Participants with chronic HBV infection will receive multiple doses of ARC-520 in combination with entecavir or tenofovir and be evaluated for safety and efficacy.

Neonatal morbidity and mortality from infectious diseases is of global concern. Childhood disease-specific immunisation is irrefutably linked to the decline in deaths from these targeted infections over the last century. However, neonatal immunisation is limited, in part, by the impaired adaptive immune function in this age group. There is now an expanding body of evidence for heterologous ('non-specific') effects of various vaccines used in childhood. This refers to the immunomodulatory capabilities of vaccines to influence immune outcomes beyond the vaccine's specific targeted disease. The underlying immunological mechanisms responsible for these effects are incompletely understood, but evidence is mounting that the innate immune system is central to these observed effects. This study is a randomised controlled trial designed to determine the influence of two commonly administered neonatal immunisations, BCG and Hepatitis B vaccine, given at birth, on the neonatal immune responses to non-specific antigens. The investigators will recruit 200 newborns at the Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne, Australia over a 1-year period. These babies will be allocated randomly to one of 4 groups, receiving these 2 vaccines in different combinations, at 2 set time points. (at birth and 1 week post randomisation) A blood sample will be taken at 1-week post randomisation for in vitro immunological analyses. This study will improve current understanding of the influence of vaccines on neonatal immunity and will help develop strategies exploiting beneficial heterologous ('non-specific') effects to improve protection against infection in the very young.
Globally, hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is the most common form of chronic hepatitis. There are still a lot of uncertainties on how infants acquired HBV leading to the development of chronic HBV infection despite active and passive immunoprophylaxis. The investigators would like to carry out a prospective study to answer the following questions: 1. the paternal, maternal and obstetric factors leading to immunoprophylaxis failure 2. the prevalence of immunoprophylaxis failure in Hong Kong
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir and dasabuvir with or without ribavirin in US veterans with genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C virus infection.
This is a Phase 3b, open-label, multicenter study to evaluate the proportion of subjects achieving sustained virologic response 12 weeks post-treatment (SVR12), in adults with genotype 1 (GT1) chronic HCV infection, who received treatment with ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir and dasabuvir with or without ribavirin.
Steroid is the treatment of choice in patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis. However, null- or partial responder of steroid treatment is recommended to consider liver transplantation. The yearly demand for liver transplants far exceeds the supply of available organs and alcoholic liver disease has been a controversial indication for transplantation. Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) has been reported to have effect of proliferation of hepatic progenitors in alcoholic steatohepatitis. The aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy of G-CSF in patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis with null or partial response to steroid.
