NCT ID: NCT00400179 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

A Safety and Efficacy Study in Patients With Gastric Cancer

Start date: May 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is an open-label, international, two-arm, parallel, randomized, Phase 3 study evaluating the efficacy and safety of S-1/cisplatin versus 5-FU/cisplatin in patients with advanced gastric cancer previously untreated with chemotherapy for advanced disease. Patients will be randomly assigned (1:1) to S-1/cisplatin (experimental arm) or 5-FU/cisplatin (control arm). Patients will be stratified by number of metastatic sites (one vs. more than one), locally advanced or metastatic disease, prior adjuvant therapy (yes or no), measurable or non-measurable disease, and center.

NCT ID: NCT00398398 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Study of XELOX With Cetuximab in Advanced Gastric Cancer

Start date: November 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The combination of capecitabine and oxaliplatin as 'backbone' regimen, adding a newer biologic agent, cetuximab, is a reasonable strategy of further chemotherapy development in advanced gastric cancer, which is the investigators study rationale.

NCT ID: NCT00397904 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Cetuximab, Cisplatin, and Irinotecan in Treating Patients With Metastatic Esophageal Cancer, Gastroesophageal Junction Cancer, or Gastric Cancer That Did Not Respond to Previous Irinotecan and Cisplatin

Start date: October 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies, such as cetuximab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Cetuximab may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for their growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and irinotecan, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving cetuximab together with cisplatin and irinotecan may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving cetuximab together with cisplatin and irinotecan works in treating patients with metastatic esophageal cancer, gastroesophageal junction cancer, or gastric cancer that did not respond to previous irinotecan and cisplatin.

NCT ID: NCT00376987 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Zinc Supplements in Lowering Cadmium Levels in Smokers

Start date: December 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Zinc supplements may lower cadmium levels in smokers and may help prevent DNA damage. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well zinc supplements work in lowering cadmium levels in smokers.

NCT ID: NCT00365508 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Counseling and Nicotine Replacement Therapy in Helping Adult Smokers Quit Smoking

Start date: February 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Stop-smoking plans, including counseling and nicotine replacement therapy, may help smokers quit smoking. It is not yet known whether counseling and the nicotine lozenge is more effective than counseling and the nicotine patch in helping adult smokers quit smoking. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying counseling and the nicotine lozenge to see how well they work compared to counseling and the nicotine patch in helping smokers quit smoking.

NCT ID: NCT00352833 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Safety and Efficacy Study With Catumaxomab in Patients After Curative Resection of a Gastric Adenocarcinoma

Start date: July 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Investigation of the outcome of an adjuvant treatment with catumaxomab as compared to surgery alone in patients after curative resection of a gastric adenocarcinoma in order to gain more detailed information primary on safety, tolerability and feasibility and secondary on relevant efficacy parameters.

NCT ID: NCT00323830 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Phase III Randomized Trial of Adjuvant XP Chemotherapy and XP/RT for Resected Gastric Adenocarcinoma

Start date: October 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The objective of the trial is to compare disease-free survival between adjuvant capecitabine/cisplatin alone vs capecitabine/cisplatin with radiotherapy (chemoradiation) in curatively resected gastric cancer patients.

NCT ID: NCT00313872 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Phase III Trial of DP Followed by FOLFIRI or the Reverse Sequence in Unresectable Gastric Cancer

Start date: May 2003
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To assess the optimal sequence of the palliative chemotherapy regimen (DP --> FOLFIRI vs FOLFIRI --> DP) in metastatic gastric cancer patients.

NCT ID: NCT00313599 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Lapatinib and Paclitaxel in Treating Patients With Advanced Solid Tumors

Start date: February 2006
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Lapatinib may help paclitaxel work better by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug. Lapatinib may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving lapatinib together with paclitaxel may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of lapatinib when given together with paclitaxel in treating patients with advanced solid tumors.

NCT ID: NCT00310115 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Motivational Counseling in Preventing Smoking Relapse After Pregnancy in Pregnant Women Who Quit Smoking During Pregnancy

Start date: April 2002
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

RATIONALE: Motivational counseling may help prevent pregnant women from smoking again after pregnancy. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying three different types of counseling to see how well they work in preventing smoking relapse after pregnancy in pregnant women who quit smoking during pregnancy.
