Filter by:Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive, fatal, fibrotic disorder of the lung. The estimated prevalence is 30-80/100,000 in the United States with incidence estimates clearly rising. A major challenge in the care of patients with IPF is determining prognosis. The natural history of IPF is usually one of inexorable decline in lung function, ultimately resulting in death from respiratory failure. However, longitudinal physiologic decline in IPF is heterogeneous and difficult to predict in individual patients. While some patients with IPF may remain stable for years, in others the disease may progress rapidly over a relatively short time. We hypothesize that peripheral blood biomarkers based on extracellular matrix and matrix-modifying molecules will improve prognostication in patients with IPF.

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of ascending doses of a novel oral formulation of Fenretinide to adult cystic fibrosis (CF) patients, once-daily for 21 days (treatment cycle). This study will include up to three (3) dose levels with minimum 7 day breaks in between treatment cycles. For each dose level, blood samples will be collected for exploratory pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) evaluation.
The primary objective of this study is to determine whether a single overnight, eight-hour administration of a 7% NaCl solution delivered by the Parion Sciences transnasal Pulmonary Aerosol Delivery (tPAD) device has a significant effect on mucociliary clearance in subjects with cystic fibrosis, as compared to no treatment. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety, tolerability, and activity of extended treatment with NGM282 in patients with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis.
This trial aims to provide prospective evidence of the safety and efficacy of mannitol 400 mg b.i.d. in subjects aged 18 years and above. We hypothesize that inhaled mannitol 400 mg b.i.d. will increase the mean change from baseline FEV1 (mL) compared to control over the 26-week treatment period in adult subjects with cystic fibrosis. Any improvement in FEV1 is considered clinically meaningful, however, this trial has set a threshold of 80 mL for the purposes of determining an appropriate sample size for statistical power while retaining trial feasibility in an orphan disease population
