Filter by:Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS); is a complex syndrome characterized by many symptoms such as chronic widespread pain, fatigue and sleep disorders, cognitive dysfunctions and psychiatric disorders. It has been stated that there is an urgent need for studies examining the clinicimetric and psychometric properties of the pain phenotype criteria in terms of patients receiving the most appropriate treatment, clinicians deciding on the appropriate treatment, and contributing to the research of scientists. Despite all this, no study has yet been found that describes the pain phenotypes in fibromyalgia syndrome and how different types of pain affect patients. The primary aim of this study is to determine the chronic pain phenotypes in individuals with FMS. The secondary aim of this study to determine the inter-rater and intra-rater reliability of the algorithm used in the determination of pain phenotypes and to assessment the clinical effects of different pain phenotypes on individuals with FMS in terms of pain severity, disease severity, quality of life and catastrophe.
The goal of this interventional study is to learn about the effect of Medicinal Cannabis (Bedrocan®) on Fibromyalgia patients with pain resistant to conventional therapy. The main question the trial aims to answer are: - Is Bedrocan® effective for treating fibromyalgia-related pain in patients resistant to conventional therapy? - Can a low dosage of medical cannabis taken as a decoction reduce fibromyalgic pain? All patients were trained on how to make the decoction: therapy was started with 100 mg/day (1 folder) and increased to 200 mg/day (2 folders) in non-responders.
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of posterior tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS) in reducing pain, improving quality of life, and decreasing disease severity in patients with fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a disease characterized by widespread pain, fatigue and cognitive alterations, among other symptoms, neck pain being the most frequent and debilitating. Virtual reality (VR) has emerged as a breakthrough for the treatment of such chronic conditions. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of VR in the treatment of chronic neck pain in patients with FM. Material and methods: Single-blind randomized clinical trial study. Patients with FM who meet the inclusion criteria will be recruited and will be distributed into three groups (GC, G1, G2). G1 (VR + cervical mobility exercises), G2 (cervical mobility exercises), control group (CG). The treatment will be administered twice a week for 4 weeks. Measurements of variables such as FIQ, EQ-5D, kinesiophobia, pain (VAS and algometer), range of motion (ROM), fatigue and adherence to treatment will be performed. A follow-up is intended to be carried out 15 days and a month after the end of the study.
This study is a multi-center, randomized, double-blinded, controlled trial with two parallel arms. The aim of the study is to evaluate efficacy and safety of Tongluo-Kaibi tablets in patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome.
This study aims to evaluate the effect of therapeutic exercise on the gut microbiome in chronic widespread pain patients. Our investigation purpose is to improve the quality of life of participants, reduce their disability and optimize their functionality. The intervention will last 6 weeks, with 2 face-to-face therapeutic exercise sessions guided by a professional and a 6-week post-intervention follow-up. The participation will require: 1. Attend the 12 therapeutic exercise sessions 2. Attend the 3 evaluations: at the beginning (A0), post intervention (A1) and +6 weeks after finishing the exercise program (A3). The items to be evaluated will be the following: 1. The Ronald Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) 2. Anxiety (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI)) 3. Depression: Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) 4. Quality of Life: SF-12 5. Pain: numerical scale (0-100) and The Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) 6. Sensory tests: heat pain threshold (HPT), pressure pain threshold (PPT) and pain modulation (CPM) 7. Perform a pre blood test on interleukins IL-18 and IL-1β This study involves the processing of personal data, so the researchers will guarantee confidentiality in their treatment at all times, complying with the personal data protection regulations, in particular, European Regulation 679/2016. , of April 27, general data protection, as well as Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights. In order to maintain your privacy and anonymity during the research, only one person on the research team will know how names were assigned to a participation number.
Accumulating research with human adults suggests that a single session of physical exercise ameliorates different aspects of cognitive function immediately after the end of the exercise period, regardless of fitness level. It has now been more clearly demonstrated that the effect of physical exercise on cognitive performance depends both on the intensity and the duration of the exercise. Fibromyalgia (FM) is a complex clinical syndrome characterized by chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain, sleep disturbances, morning stiffness, fatigue, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of exercise on cognitive functions in patients with FM.
This study will be conducted to examine the superiority of effectiveness between muscle energy technique combined with physical therapy, strain counterstrain combined with physical therapy, and physical therapy alone in terms of pain intensity, pain pressure threshold, cervical lateral flexion and rotation range of motion, and neck function for patients with upper trapezius myofascial trigger points.
PRONACERA THERAPEUTICS S.L. is a young biotechnological company focused on the development of genetic diagnostic tools and treatments for pathologies in different medical areas such as reproduction, fibromyalgia and rare diseases or with deficiencies in diagnosis, with the aim of helping to optimize health systems through improvement in terms and forms of diagnosis. Among the multiple lines of R+D+i that are currently being developed, the reproductive genomic line and endometrial functional molecular biology stand out. Specifically, it develops the design of markers and performs the genetic analysis of infertility focused on female endometrial tissue. Fibromyalgia is a complex and common chronic pain disorder that affects 12 million Europeans. Along with other symptoms, fibromyalgia causes pain and general tenderness to touch. Currently this disease is diagnosed following the criteria established by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) of a combination of relevant symptoms and the description of how the person feels. In other words, in practice it is a diagnosis by elimination. A patient suffering from fibromyalgia usually takes between 2 to 3 years to obtain the correct diagnosis. Health experts consider that fibromyalgia is a disease that is difficult to diagnose and that is associated with an expensive use of health system services. With FIBROKIT, Pronacera aims to design and develop a new diagnostic and monitoring tool for fibromyalgia by designing a panel of specific plasma proteome and intestinal microbiome biomarkers and reducing the number of biological samples used. During the execution of this project, the company will have three leading research and innovation organizations in the sector (Helix BioS, CINUSA and CICbioGUNE) that will support Pronacera. FIBROKIT will have a cohort of 250 participants (206 patients and 44 healthy volunteers) to validate the diagnostic capacity of the tool and perform a robust biostatistical study.
To determine whether a targeted right/left discrimination training program can improve pain perception and functional disability in fibromyalgia patients.
