The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of two body acceptance programs for women. Participants may experience reduction of eating pathology and prevention of future obesity and eating disorders; may derive a sense of altruism and contribution to furthering understanding of a public health problem.

This study will examine the effects of almonds consumed by adults with different body fat distributions on indices of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.
Inclusion Criteria: aged 21 and older, BMI>=25, and presence of recurrent binge eating on the MOVE! Survey. Exclusion Criteria: more than 4 MOVE! sessions in the prior year; active psychosis or suicidal ideation; medical or psychiatric illness, or cognitive deficits that interfere with providing consent or completing assessments, and; pregnancy or lactation. Participants will be recruited from the VA's MOVE! Program at VA Connecticut Healthcare System (both Newington and West Haven campuses). Those participants who meet eligibility and are interested in the study will meet with a research associate who will obtain written consent. A baseline appointment will be made where the participant will complete written assessments, anthropometric measures (weight, height, blood pressure etc.), along with a blood draw. Participants will then be randomized, by luck of a draw, to either MOVE! or MOVE!+clinician-led CBT treatment. For those randomized to the MOVE! condition, participants will continue in the MOVE! program by meeting with the multidisciplinary team in a group setting once a week for 60 minutes, for 16 weeks. The group sessions are lead by a dietician, health psychologist, and physical therapist. For those randomized to the MOVE!+CBT treatments, participants will continue in the MOVE! program as described above, but will also partake in up to 10 individualized sessions over a 3-month period. Participants will be given a treatment manual to read at home, ask to complete daily food logs and work with the study therapist to create goals and complete homework that is geared at examining and changing how participant think about binge eating and how that thinking affects behavior. Lastly, a walking program will also be incorporated into the treatment. For both treatment arms, 3 months from treatment starting, then again at 9 months and 15 months, participants will be asked to complete post and follow up assessments, much like the baseline.
The purpose of this study is to assess a cognitive dissonance-based eating disorder prevention intervention program on its ability to reduce attentional biases in body-dissatisfied women.
A controlled, randomized clinical intervention study which includes the development and activation of an intervention program designed to prevent eating disorders among adolescent female aesthetic athletes. Our hypothesis is that the intervention program will yield improvement in the participants' eating behaviors, drive for thinness, and body image as compared with the age matched control group. Results will be measured using the study questionnaire, to be filled out by the participants before, after, and three months after the completion of the program. The Questionnaire will include validated questionnaires with good psychometric qualities.
Eating disorders (ED) are often undetected in the general population resulting in delayed treatment. The SCOFF questionnaire has been validated for eating disorders screening in primary care, but does not identify the type of eating disorder. Objective: Investigators evaluated the performance of a clinical algorithm (ExpaliTM) combining answers to SCOFF questionnaire with Body Mass Index (BMI) to identify four Broad Categories of ED derived from DSM-5. Design: Clinical algorithm (ExpaliTM) was developped from 104 combinations of BMI levels and answers to five SCOFF questions. Two senior ED specialists allocated each combination to one of the four Broad Categories of ED (DSM-5 diagnostics): restrictive disorder (anorexia nervosa typical, atypical and restrictive food intake disorders), bulimic disorder (typical and with low frequency or duration), hyperphagic disorder (binge eating disorders typical and with low frequency or duration) and other specified ED. The performance of ExpaliTM was evaluated on data from patients referred to the Nutrition Department including a precise DSM-5 diagnosis of ED, a positive SCOFF test (at least 2 "yes" answers) and BMI. Sensitivity, specificity values with a 95% confidence interval (95% CI) and Youden index were calculated for each category.

The purpose of this project is to conduct a multicentre, randomized controlled trial (RCT) with 250 patients diagnosed with an eating disorder (ED). In this experiment, the patients from the experimental group will test an mHealth application (TCApp developed by HealthApp) and then, a clinical efficacy analysis and economic evaluations will be performed. To do this, we have set the following three specific objectives: - To evaluate the clinical efficacy of an intensive intervention that includes both standard face-to-face Cognitive Behavioural Treatment (CBT) (treatment as usual, TAU) plus an online intervention using TCApp, versus TAU alone. - To carry out an economic evaluation (cost-utility and cost-effectiveness analysis) of the new mHealth intervention and identify factors that promote or hinder the implementation of TCApp in mental health settings in Spain. - To analyse the adoption processes of this type of applications by patients and health professionals and identify the determinants of mHealth adoption. General hypothesis: The implementation of the intensive intervention program (TAU + TCApp) would result in a more significant improvement of the ED symptoms compared to the TAU control group. Specific hypotheses: - The application of the intensive mHealth intervention would lead to significantly greater change scores (difference between T0 and T1) in the primary outcome variable of ED psychopathology, compared to the control group. - The mHealth intervention would lead to significantly greater change scores (difference between T0 and T1) in patients' secondary outcome variables: a) depression symptoms, b) anxiety symptoms, c) motivation to change, d) suicidal risk, and e) quality of life, compared to the control group. - Similarly, intensive intervention would result in greater change scores (difference between T0 and T1) in caregivers' variables: a) quality of life and b) caregiver burden.
